Animation Academy class at DHS?

Note that the DHS version is with pencil and paper while the DisneyQuest version is with stylus on electronic tablet. This makes the DHS version easier, since you can vary the darkness of pencil lines while you have to do strategic erasing on the electronic tablet to make it look good. Also, you take the paper home at DHS for free; at DisneyQuest you either have to pay for a printout or take a picture with your smartphone. Finally, DisneyQuest typically only does big characters (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Pluto), while DHS may do anything (One option, sadly voted down on our trip, was Louis the Gator from Princess and the Frog).

Thanks for the ideas of how to keep the drawings from getting ruined. My kids are not toddlers and are very good at drawing and will love it. So sorry that we never did it before - there is always too much to do with too little time.
:)

OK.. yea.. the DHS one I thought was actual paper / pencil and rotating lit drawing board just like a 'real' animator. That picture is of computer screens, but the above post explains that. Phew.. I hope they leave the DHS one 'old school'.

And I am so nervous to do this.. I dont have an artistic bone in my body so I'm afraid my picture would come out more of a mutant then a character lol

Mine was awful :rotfl2: We got stuck with Agent P and since I don't know anything about Phineas and Ferb it wasn't as fun as I had hoped, but I would do it again. Next time I'm smuggling in an eraser!

I would be in heaven if I could mutantize Phineas, Ferb, or Agent P.. :cloud9::hyper:

The class at HS was truely a blast...we did it at least 7-8 times on our last trip. We ALL loved it, myself, 15yo Dd, 14yo Ds and 7yo Ds...my older 2 did better then I did. ::yes:: And my youngest had a few that came out pretty good and a couple that we about fell off our stools (watch them, they can be tricky, lol) laughing it. :lmao:
We did Mickey, Tinkerbell, Piglet, Woody, Daisy and a few more, can't remember...but it is SUCH a blast, make a point to do it and you may find yourself there more then once like us. ;)

I was the same way....can barely draw a stick man but after doing the classes and doing some nice drawings I've discovered I can draw! Net you will too!

I didn't know they did it at DQ, but it looks like it is not taught by a person?
At DHS an animator teaches the class. We have drawn Mickey, Minnie, and Pluto. It it not easy, it moves fast and the pencil does not have an eraser. But all of the drawings come out surprisingly well. We have all 18 of ours framed and hanging in a hallway upstairs :thumbsup2

We did it for the first time during our recent trip and had a blast! We got to draw Rapunzel so scribbling (which is what I do best!) came in handy for her hair!

I was surprised at how popular the class was. We had to wait in line through one whole class and almost missed the cut-off for the next one. We had been advised earlier in the day to arrive at least 20 minutes before the hour or half-hour so that's what we did but we had to wait through that class and on to the next one. Worth the wait though, I'd say. Really fun!

Don't worry about it. The instructors have a great line for truly terrible drawings: "That smile (nose, ear, whatever) certainly has a lot of character!"

The one at Disney Quest is taught by a real person :) They had a schedule during the day and drew a different character during each class. My daughter was in the class that drew Donald. She wanted to draw Mickey but that class was hours away from our time.
