Over all do you like Animals better than People? Honestly, I'm curious. Debating this is optional. Just an answer to the poll would be fine.

I like people better than animals. Animals love me but I'm not crazy about touching animals. I love animal shows & storys. I have a cat. I'm a people person.

In general overall random person A vs random animal B. I think I prefer animals.

But in almost all cases people come first. Life of an animal vs. the life/livelyhood/health etc of a person the person wins.

I don't care who you are, I don't care what you mean to me. I love my cat more than you. My cat will come first. She is part of my family just like my mom is. She lives here. You don't. She comes first.

No, I like people more than animals. I do love animals a lot though (became a vegetarian because I love animals so much) but just not as much as people. Well I guess it really depends on the person because at the moment I really dislike some people.

I just don't understand how you can compare animals to people. Don't get me wrong, the world has some nasty people in it, and I in fact have a dog and cat that I both adore, but come on. People come first.

The OP asked, "In *general* which do you *like* best? " Never did she ask if we *loved more* or *put animals over humans*. When I think of this in *general* terms, I take into account ALL people (those I don't know and those I know and don't care for) and considering this, yes, I *like* animals better straight across the board. But I *love* my friends and family and they come first.

I've got to admit I love & TRUST animals over people. In a bizarre lifeboat situation would I save the person over an animal? Well, if I knew the person was a jerk - they'd be toast (or fish food) - but otherwise I would grab the person. Aniamls, like children do not have control over their environment, they need our protection. Most people put themselves in stupid situations through poor choices and I am sick to death of subsidizing poor life style choices (illegitimate kids they want WIC coupons and ADC checks for, drug use, didn't finish school, etc...). Just my opinion - the only people charities I give to are Salvation Army (because their clients work for the help they get) and Girls & Boys Town.

Let's just say that animals don't know how to be jerks. They aren't vindictive or conniving. They don't judge you. They either love you or they don't bother with you. You can't say that about most people.

Of course people come first, but let me say, I'm a HUGE animal lover (just to give you an idea, I just spent $65 getting our goldfish treated for air bladder disease at a vet...I know...crazy to most people- thank God I have an understanding husband!) and I also must add that I feel most animals truly are pretty innocent and don't understand why some jerks abuse them or whatever. When we travel w/o our kids, I usually feel worse leaving my Lab Jake b/c he does't get why we're leaving and if and when we'll be back. And gosh when he sees the suitcases come out, talk about sad looks and pouts coming from him. My kids who are 9 & 11 understand that they are going to Grandma's to be spoiled and that we are going on a trip and we'll call and talk to them a couple of times a day and we will be back on a certain day. As I said, people first, but animals are a very, very close second!

You have not met my cat Toby. He is vindictive...if he gets mad at us he will bite. He thinks we control the ran & bites us.

I prefer humans to animals. I just don't get any enjoyment out of animals, except in the zoo or on my dinner plate.

I feel the exact same way. I love my cat more than anyone. She is my best friend (sounds weird, I know), but I can trust that no matter what I tell her, she will not laugh at me, she will not think I am crazy, and she will never tell anyone. I was talking to my grandma one day and I told her I wanted to do something with animals as a career. She asked why and I said "Because people annoy me. I could be locked in a room with my cat forever and be perfectly content, but lock me in the same room with a person, I don't care who the person is and I will go crazy." She got very offended and was mad at me. My mom was standing right there and when I told my grandma that, she backed me up. My mom said (about me), "She isn't kidding. If she could, she would stay in her room with her computer (DISing obviously, but shhh, my grandma doesn't need to know that) and her cat and be perfectly happy"

I used to be allergic to my cat. We didn't know that, though until after I got her. I would sleep with her in the choke hold (literally) all night. My dad even said that one night, he came into my room and I was sleeping. I had my cat by her neck holding her with like a death grip. My dad told my mom that he had to get the cat out of there or else I would kill her. They both came in and pryed my arms out from around her and my cat wouldn't move. She loves for me, but only me, to hold her real tight like that. Anyways, I would wake up every morning with a rash on my arm from her. The next night, I would sleep with her again and wake up with the rash. I loved my cat that I was more than willing to have my arm be itchy all day just so that I could have her with me at night. If it was a person, I'm not sure I would say the same.
