Animal Kingdom?

No major smells that I can remember :) . It's not like a farm because they are more spread out. I'm glad I went, and I might come back for a couple of things but for me it'll be a half day trip. It is all about animals, but it has Everest and Kali and Dinosaur. Don't do Tough To Be A Bug if you don't like smells tho!

Wow I love animal kingdom lot of stuff to do. The lion king show is great. tough to be abug awsome 3d there is a stick bug but it is just for a few seconds. The safari ride is realy nice first thing in the morning. It is not a zoo there is no animal smells. You will be glad you went. River rabid raft great cool down ride.:cool1: We will be at Disney Aug25th to 30th.

I guess you think the animals will smell bad because it will be hot? They are so spread out there is really no issue. Now, we used to live in Chicago and we went to the zoo in the winter a couple of times there. They move the animals indoors, like they have "the elephant house", ect. Talk about SMELL BAD! The smallish enclosed habitats were terrible. The smell almost made me sick! No, animals outside with lots of fresh air and room to roam are fine! It will be hot, but we love AK!! If you are not much of an animal lover I guess you could skip it.

If you don't mind me asking, is this your first trip to the world?

Disney is good about keeping its parks clean. No, Animal Kingdom does not "smell," nor does Animal Kingdom Lodge. WDW is aware that animal smells are unappealing to guests and people would complain. I think this is the last thing they would want to deal with.

I think you should definitely visit this theme park. I see that you're spending around 10 days in WDW, so you should have enough time to see the different parks. AK is beautiful and I'm sure you'll have a great time, even in the summer. Plus, the attracations are not around animals (except for the safari obviously). "It's Tough to be a Bug" is fantastic, so is the Lion King show, which has a set that is similar to the Broadway version of "The Lion King." "Kilimanjaro Safari" is awesome in the morning, "Dinosaur" is fun if you're into the more active rides, "Kali River Rapids" is a well-themed white-water rafting ride, "Expedition Everest" is supposed to be great- we haven't been on it yet but we'll be trying it next week. There's so much to experience here and I haven't even gone into the decor and the wildlife. Disney did a fantastic job imitating the wildlife's natural habitats, it doesn't feel like a "typical zoo" at all.

I would also think in the summer that AK is a nice park because there are a lot of leafy trees and nice walkways. I hope this helps. :sunny: Have an awesome trip.

It will be hot so go in the morning and leave when it gets crowded or take advantage of evening EMH. Have a great time! :sunny:

i would worry less about the animals and more about the people your in line with.. lol

Here are my favorites:

Expedition Everest
Kali River Rapids
It's Tough To Be a Bug
Festival of the Lion King
The Bird Show - I forget what it is called...but people who don't really like birds get very, very bored. :)

Everyone in the world but me likes Kilimanjaro Safaris

Dinosaur is OK, but very jerky. And with Ellen at Epcot and Jurassic Park at Universal...I skip it. Enough with the dinosaurs.

is my first time at any of the parks....

I am so excited but I was just curious about AK....

We are animal lovers....

Not so much my husband but he'll do what I want to do....

Is there anything else that you can tell me about AK?

I would not skip AK if I were you. I've only been there once and it will be my second when we go in September and that's one of the parks that I can't wait to visit again. And with this being your first visit, I would definitely not skip it, give each of the parks a try and then determine which is your favorite, least favorite, etc. and then for future visits, you can decide whether or not you'd like to skip a park or spend more time in another... But in my opinion, AK is definitely not to be missed!!

goodness no - AK won't smell. Even on the safari you won't have an "Animal odor" the only smell you might notice is once in a while in the jungle trek (with the tigers and such) i have noticed a slight musky odor, but hardly at all.

now the smell of wonerful bar-b-Q will suck you in at flametree. yummy!

We always do AK b/c there are a few things we don't want to miss there. For example, Dinosaur is one of my faves in all of Disney and i am looking foward to EE next month when we go. Be sure and do KS early in the a.m. or late in the evening to see the most animals. For us it is a half day park.

We were at Animal Kingdom on July 26 and it smelled horrible when we stepped out of the car in the parking lot! We actually walked in with a lady who worked with the animals in the park and she said they use animal "poo" on the plants for fertilizer. She said we'd get used to the smell and I guess we must have because we didn't smell it on the way back to the car! Never smelled anything inside the park either.

All of the above ('cept we haven't smelled the poop fertilizer yet! :teeth: leaves us a new experience to treasure!)
Flametree is nice to eat at--get an early or late lunch--have one of your party get a table way down the path at one of the roofed areas--if you can get a spot by the railing you'll get a close up of the traveling character/music boat & a swell view of EE. Or if you prefer there are spots near a little pond where the kiddies can enjoy the ducks-

We really like the musical groups that play the AK & look for De Vine or Wes Palm.
the CMs are a wealth of knowledge, so feel free to ask questions. :sunny:

We really like the whole feel of AK!

We love AK :thumbsup2 Just keep in mind that if you go during the evening EMH, the exhibits/rides that include the animals (ie. Pangani Forest Exploration Trail and Kilimanjaro Safari) probably will not be open. So maybe take in these attractions in the AM, leave in the middle of the day and return during the PM EMH for things like Kali River Rapids and Expedition Everest.

whatever you decide, ENJOY :cool1:

yes and no......
it does smell and it gets really hot but
it does have 3 good rides, Expedition Everest, Dinosaur, and Khali River Rapids

We have never noticed a smell at AK. However, I've been to Disney in August the past several years and I found walking around AK to be very hot. We always take advantage of the CM's willing to spray you with the water mist bottles. My advice is to make sure you wear good walking shoes, some of the best attractions are spread far apart. However, I would never miss spending a day at AK!

Fav. Attractions:
It's tough to be a bug
The Lion King Show
Dinosaur (I enjoy my 72 year old grandmother on this ride the most)
Safari (I have found this ride is best to do first thing in the morning)

yes...like everyone said, its a great time. its our fav.oviously it will be hot,but all the rides will cool you. make sure you try the barbecue place. we still love pizza fari . we have to go there every trip............take your time to check out all the gorillas, etc.all the little things. the tough to be a bug ,just has a few joke smells ,other wise its my favorite to. i think you will love it here. .
