How likely is it that I will get AKV at the 7 month reservation with OKW as my Home resort? Has anyone gotten into AKV with another resort as their home resort by calling 7 months ahead?

We were able to get a value studio this past March calling at the 7 month mark. Not sure how the recent surge in AKV owners has impacted this, though.

It all depends upon the dates you want and the type of room.

Claire ;)

I've done it twice, actually... once a 2 bedroom standard in May and once a studio savannah view (though I cancelled it later) in January.

I agree, it would probably depend a lot on when you are hoping to book...

I'm am 0 for 2, in booking at AKV (my Home Resort), calling even at 9 & 10 months out. Maybe it was the time of year I was trying to get (one in Dec, one in April).?? Very frustrating though...as I've only been in DVC for nearly 1 year.

We've been incredibly lucky. We make our reservations at one of our home resorts and then decide if/where we want to change later. We currently have a reservation for a 1 bedroom at AKV for August 14-18 that we switched from SSR a couple of months ago.

So far, we have been lucky. Able to switch to AKV and also VWL not more then a month or so before our reservation.

We have done the waitlist and been successful. Of course, if we hadn't gotten what we asked for we still would have been happy. Just being at WDW is fantastic. And we really love SSR and BWV! Being able to try all the other resorts out has been a wonderful experience. Of course, now we want to buy at VWL too....

We're SSR owners & we've gotten standard studios at AKV twice.

We spent Dec. 20-26, 2007 at AKV & we're spending July 27th at AKV before moving over to BCV. We loved spending Christmas there & can't wait to go back!!

I have also just booked at the 7 month window for AKV for Jan with no problem.:goodvibes

Like everyone has stated the dates are going to matter.

December is historically the busiest DVC usage and I would be surprised to find rooms available after 11 months.

SSR owners sitting here in our Savanna Dedicated Studio right now. No problems booking either. We had our choice from value up to club level when I called at 7 months out. Not overly thrilled though, so we won't be taking up any rooms on you in the future!

Oh, no! Care to elaborate?

We had 3 nights in a standard studio June 26-29 and I made the ressie April 28. BTW, we absolutely loved the resort and will be spending 7 or 8 nights there for our 2 week trip next June.

We have been here 7 nights and only planned 2 park days. That meant a lot of resort time. There just isn't enough to do here. There are no jogging trails, no videos to borrow, no community hall, no bikes or boats to rent, no where to walk around and just browse. We have a savanna room and have seen animals all week so visiting the outcrop isn't too exciting. I REALLY don't like the pool. It is very crowded and since it is the only one.... Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike the resort, I just wouldn't put it at the top of my list. We will probably come back for 2 or 3 nights with the kids so they can see the animals from the balcony (we are sans kids this trip), but it won't be the bulk of anymore of our stays.

Sorry you haven't had the best trip. I have heard that Kidani will have more to do. Maybe try that when you go with you're kids. I hope the rest of you're trip is great. :goodvibes

I was a VB owner and was able to get 2 savanna view studiose, 1 me and my GF and one for my parents at the 7 month window during school break in Feb.

We are SSR owners and we were able to get VB for 3 ngts and AKL for 6 ngts at the 7 month window. We are going to WDW for our vacation from 8/24-9/2Just a little over a 1 month wait!!! Starting to really plan. :cool1:

There are DVD's to borrow from the shop if you want.

We're OKW owners too! We just returned from AKL in May, the week of Memorial Day. No problem booking a 2br Savannah view. We loved the resort, and are planning to return next year.
