Animal Kingdom tips

hello!
I've been to Disney a couple times and I have been to Animal Kingdom but I feel like we really haven't explored it very much. Pretty much get in and ride the big rides (safari, Everest etc.)
And leave. I have not been there since pandora opened, so obviously we will be doing that.
Can you guys give me any tips or tricks to getting more out of the rest of Animal Kingdom?

Maharaja Jungle Trek is my favorite of the animal trails. I love the huge fruit bats! Also, take the train over to Rafiki's Planet Watch. There is some interesting stuff there, especially if they are doing a veterinary procedure. The train is pretty cool too and you can see some behind-the scenes views for AK on the ride.

Check out Festival of the Lion King. When you exit the Safari ride check out the nature trails and animals along them. Make it intentional. If you see a path, check out where it leads you. You might find that some areas are peaceful and less populated.

Pangani Forest Trail/Gorilla Falls The Gorillas are a-maaazing. Also, if you have kids (even if you don't) do the Wilderness Explorer thing. You get a book and earn badges (Like Russell in UP) throughout the park and learn about different animals, habitats, etc. Animal Kingdom has become a 2-day park for us.

Both of the animal trails. (Pangani and Maharaja). They are the true essence of AK and allow you to break away from the "rush to here...rush to there" theme park experience. Standing by the glass watching the gorillas (especially if there is a mother and baby) and watching the tigers will warm any heart and give you an experience that is anything but "theme park".

If you are there in the evening, the Awakening is fun.
