Animal Kingdom room request?

We are staying dec 8-11 in Kidani 2 Br savanna view.

First time staying here.

4 adults and 2 year old.

Please give advice on room requests.

You should have a great view on any floor with the savanna category - Kidani hallways can be very long so I would request to be close to the lobby, but I understand this is a common request and can be tough for the room assigners to accommodate at certain times, so I'd include back up requests. If you are going to have a vehicle and drive to the parks you might consider making your second request "near elevator" and if you are relying on bus transportation you might specify "near transportation". We like the animals better on the Sunset Savanna than we do the Pembe Savanna, if that matters to you. To me the "headliners" on those are that Pembe has Okapi and Sunset has giraffes. Others might have better insight on the specific other animals on each Savanna. And the Animal Kingdom Lodge thread over in the "regular" Disney resorts forum has a lot of activity from seasoned Disers so I recommend it if you haven't checked it out yet!

I prefer being on lower floor. It puts you closer to the animals and higher floors can get obstructions ( trees) in the way.

To see giraffes, ask for Sunset savanna view (80% of all savanna rooms face Sunset). For other requests that will accomplish not being far from the lobby: (a) if you want to be near the pool, ask for either near the pool or close to the Rafiki elevator; (b) if you want to be a short distance from bus stop, ask for close to transportation, close to community hall, or close to the Timon elevator.

Note, requesting "near lobby" is these days a request with a high risk of not being met because so many request it, including because it is one of the requests cash guests can make with online check-in (any requests a member makes should be done through MS and do not use the request section of online check-in) . Also, do not ask for just "near elevator." There are three sets of elevators along each wing and such a request can be met by putting you anywhere in the building. You need to name the elevator you want to be close to, like Rafiki or Timon, if you are going to make a near elevator request.
