Animal Kingdom or not? That is the question...

I love Animal Kingdom because it's so different from the other parks. As another poster mentioned, it is just so well themed! I've only been twice, the first was 17 years ago when it was still brand new and had growing to do. When we went back this Easter, I was very impressed with how pretty it is.
We won't be visiting AK when we go next December because it's going to be a short trip with a Christmas focus (MK and Epcot only for that trip). But I swear I could do a short JUST AK trip. Stay at AKL, do some of the special safaris and backstage tours, etc. and eat at all the great restaurants. Especially once Avatarland opens and AK at night becomes more happening. It's just a neat place.

You've done 4 trips and completely skipped a Disney park? It's Disney! Sure it might seem like it's "just a zoo" but it's a DISNEY zoo! I'm sure by now the other parks are becoming old friends. Wouldn't it be fun to meet a new friend? What if you skipped Epcot for 4 years because it was "just a museum"? You'd be kicking yourself for waiting so long! Go! It may not end up being your favorite park, but I'm sure it will be better than any zoo you've ever gone to, just because it's a Disney zoo! :thumbsup2

I will also vote for going. Our girls love love love this park, and almost everything in it. Flights of Wonder, where DD9 has been picked twice to volunteer. Festival is probably the best "free" show IMHO that there is. Nemo is great theater. So as you say the boys like shows, this is a great park. My girls do not do thrill rides, so no EE but KRR and Dino no problem. If there at RD no need for FP for Safari, but we sometimes book a later one and do it twice. You did not say if your staying onsite? You can book BOMA for dinner, short ride and check out AKL at the same time. Great buffet that we don't miss. If you stay late enough there you can do night vision goggles for the boys and see the animals at night, very cool.
Don't skip this park again....lol
Lol @ skipping again!! I think you all convinced me to go this time!
