Animal Kingdom Lodge?

I did go to allearsnet.to check out AKL menus, Boma sounds like it has quite the buffet. In my search for dining options I saw a special regarding a free magic your way dining plan from 8-21 to 10-4-05. I called WDW to inquire about it because I had not included it when I first booked. Now we have free meals for the entire stay. I hope Jiko is on the plan. We are psyched!

Jiko is on the plan but it is a signature restaurant so you will need two TS credits/person for that one.

:sunny: We stayed at the AKL from May 29th thru June 5th. I have nothing but great things to say about the resort.

-booked a standard view but was upgraded to a savanah view on the sunset area. It was very nice and we had alot of animals including Giraffes right outside our window.

-standard views are closer to the restaurants, pool and bus stops. That is one thing to consider when looking at rooms. Their are alot of areas to view the animals throughout the hotel

-Bunk bed room with a queen bed was very roomy and was a fun room to be in as the kids felt like they wear really special with their own beds for them.

-The atmosphere was relaxing and the pool area is spread out so you can catch some sleep in a shaded area. Lots of tree coverage on the outside pool area and was neat to see the animals with a 30 to 40 yard walk from the pool.

I would tell anyone I know to stay here!!!

p.s. Although this is the first Deluxe I've stayed in, I've stayed at All Star Movies, Dixie Landings Riverside, Caribean Beach and the FW Cabins and spent alot of time at the Contemporary, the AKL was hands down the best.

really??? not so sure about this-- the zebra trail is on the side that the pool is on and also overlooks a savvanah - we stayed there 3 weeks ago - we had a great view of the Arusha Savannah and a quick elevator ride down and we were in the lobby near the restaurants and pool.
i agree - it's a fantastic resort!

The front section of the resort has a smaller horse shoe shape than the main resort section in the back. Guests towards the end of the larger horse shoe (all Savannah view) might have a longer walk. Point is, if you have a standard room I felt that a person would be guaranteed a closer room to the non animal resort amenities where a person with a savanah view might be rather far away.

gotcha! i love it either way- it's a great place!!
i really enjoyed our location- it was our second time there. last time (01) we were much further away. this location was perfect for us.

I want to subscribe to this thread as we are staying at the AKL in January :cool1:

My sister and I are planning to stay at the AKL in Nov 2006. We want to stay in a savannah view, but also want to do concierge so we can book the special tour. I understand that you cannot guarantee a savanah view with the concierge. Can I request a 3rd floor savannah, but upgrade to a concierge?
