Animal Kingdom lodge Villas Question

We are considering staying at AKL for our next trip but have a concern regarding the distance from Downtown.
We like to go there some evenings and wonder what the bus transportation service is like and how long it takes
We usually stay at SSR which is sooo close to Downtown.

Personally I would stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge, its magic watching the animals. I would also recommend hiring a car as travelling by bus from or to a park is much quicker by car and you can no longer go from Down Town Disney direct to a park. Also having a car means that you can easily eat off site, thereby saving you a fortune and giving you a much wider choice.

From Animal Kingdom Lodge to Down Town Disney by car is about 15 minutes; I have never done it by bus. If you are staying on site you have free parking at all the Disney parks.

Doesn't take too much longer by bus, say 20 minutes.

We stayed at AKL in 2007 and are returning this year, both without a car. I have read that some feel AKL is too distant form the parks and DTD but this is not a view shared by us. We found the bus service very good. Buses at all resorts tend to run abut every 20 mins and usaully it is whether you just catch one or just miss one is where the difference is.

I would say average tome for us on the bus is 30 mins including walking to stop and waiting for bus.
