Animal Kingdom Lodge/Villa's Photo's

I've been watching this thread for what feels like ages! Thanks to you all for posting pics. You've made up my mind. We booked AKL for April & we'll be there all week. When we head down in September for free dining, we're planning a meal a Boma. I'm excited to get my first REAL glimpse of the lodge. Keep posting!!

What a great thread. I love, love, love The Animal Kingdom Lodge. Please more pictures. :) :goodvibes

We just made reservations for Jiko.....depending on how the feel of the place is I will try to get some shots of the food and atmosphere.

Thanks. I am trying to remember I think I used 3 different lenses on those. My canon 28-135 IS, canon 70-200L and my sigma 10-20.

As far as settings - they are all different. I shoot totally manual now unless I am doing something where I need a fast shutter speed then I will turn to shutter priority. I know I did all of these on manual and I would have to go back and look up the settings. If you go to my smugmug gallery you can see the settings - at least you should by clicking on the I in the pop up window when you put your mouse cursor on the photo and not the thumbnail.

I had very little to do with my photos in post processing this year. YIPPEE! :yay: I for the most part - did the usual adjustments with my raw converter - turning them into jpgs then I used elements and did some cropping, sharpening and on a few I darkened highlights and lightened shadows.

My canon 30D usually gets very vivid color - with a lot of red in the photos for some reason - so sometimes I desaturate the reds - but other than that I don't do anything to the colors.

Oh - and I used a circular polorizer on most of my outdoor shots this year. I love how blue it makes the sky and really cuts down on the glare.

Buddozer - What type of camera are you using.. I love the clarity and chripsness ( especially at night!!!! ) Do you use a specific setting for night as well.....

DVCJen - What type do you use too?

I am in the market for a new one, but want something that looks Great! You both have awesome pictures.

I have two dSLR cameras - both canon. My youngest DD was using my Canon XTi on the trip - I was using my Canon 30D.

They are simply beautiful!!! :cheer2: Thanks for posting them! You did all of the post processing of the RAW files in Elements? If so, I need to learn how to do that. I think I have it in my old computer, I just never learned how to do it! (I know, how lame is that?):sad2:

Your greens are the greenest greens! I think the reduction of the glare really enhances the richness of the colors. I love your pictures :thumbsup2

Thanks - I am not sure if this has something to do with the camera - or what it is but I have always gotten really vivid colors with the 30D. Sometimes almost TOO vivid for my tastes. And yes - a circular polarizer is something I do not leave home without. ;)

nooo - I am still using the canon raw converter software Zoom Browser to process my raw files. Then I open the photo in Elements and crop (which I did do to nearly every photo - I always shoot wide) and sharpen if i need to. That is mostly all I had to do this year. Others may not agree - but I feel I get better photos/exposure since I am shooting in full manual. OR - maybe I have just learned something thanks to everyone here. :)
