I don't think you are able to make reservations for the Star Light Safari currently at Animal Kingdom Lodge. But are you still able to get the night vision binocular for self guided "tour"?

We just got back last week, and I know for sure the night vision goggles are not back yet. I didn't ask about the Safari, but I am pretty sure that is not running either. I can't say for sure on that one, though.

I went on the Starlight Safari towards the end of June and it was amazing. No free night vision goggles for use at the resorts though.

When they had the Free night vision it was by far not a tour. They were only available for a few hours a night in a small section off to the side of the pool. There were cast members that had a lot of knowledge that were nice to talk to. In the end you really did not see much as it was a very small section of the Savannah and they only had I believe it was 4 sets so your time using them was very limited so everyone waiting had a chance. My son told the CM he liked Snakes, the CM took the time to go to back area to get him a sheet about snakes and the ones found at AKL.

When they had night vision goggles available to use for free by the pool, was that at Jambo House or Kidani Village? (Just so people who happen to be there know where to check.)

We didn't do it, but there were a couple of set times for night vision viewing at both Jambo and Kidani when we were there in Feb 2022. It was on the activity calendar.

When we stopped by AKL in January the CM suggested that we use the night mode camera on our phones to spot the animals and it worked!
Many many years ago when folks were waiting and waiting to use we handed our kids our video camera on night mode and it was perfect. AND we could record them if we wanted.

You can also get fairly small for travel, not too expensive binoculars with night vision. If I had a savanna room I would for sure take some of these. And they can be fun to use other places too, even your own backyard.

Not night vision, but I took a very compact monocular with me in my "park bag" (fanny pack) when we were there in June. It is only about 3" long and about 1.5" in diameter so it's easy to throw in a pocket too. I was able to spot stuff all throughout our days with ease. It was even useful in the Hall of Presidents. My wife gave me grief for packing it, but I think she enjoyed using it as much as I did, lol. I'd recommend one to anyone. I think it's more convenient than compact binoculars and easier for anyone to use quickly.
