Animal Kingdom Lodge construction

Thinking of booking a trip to AKL in Sept, though im a little worried about the construction work. How bad is it? Anybody been recently? Did it have an impact on your trip?

Sorry, this is a little long!...We stayed there Feb 14th thru Feb 16th. Our room was #4316 on the Sunset...aka Construction Savannah, Kudu trail. We checked in around 4:30. The construction went on till 9:00 that night. They have those big spotlights, like the kind they use on highway construction for night work. It was bright and the lights were aimed in the direction of the hotel. The next morning at 6:10, I awoke to the beep beep of a large dump truck moving in reverse. That night, construction continued until about 10:15with the same bright lights. There were two large cranes moving sections of the hotel into place. It was noisey. You couldn't be out on the balcony and "pretend " you were on an African savannah.
We've stayed here four other times, concierge Arusha savannah views. We love AKL. We were there on business and booked a standard room, just to stay at our favorite hotel. We were upgraded to this view. Hey, beats a parking lot view! When my son was little, he would have loved the construction view. Construction is moving at a maddening pace! Ask for any view but Sunset until the construction is completed.

We were there in October 2007 and they were doing construction, but we did not feel as though it impacted our vacation at all. We were on the opposite side of the resort though.

We were in a studio in January. We, too, were on the other side of the resort. We heard and saw nothing unless we really tried. The resort was wonderful as usual.

It is only on the sunset savanna side of the resort that you actually get an impact. It is off in the distance somewhat but can still see and hear as noted above. Best to make request for either Arusha (the one in the center of the resort) or Uzima (the one on the pool side of the resort) savanna view, as getting either of those avoids the issue completely.
