Animal Kingdom Hot!

BizarreLy, once I accepted that Orlando would be horribly hot and humid, that my clothes would be drenched in sweat, that my skin would be a mess of sunscreen and sloppy wet, I kind of enjoyed it.

At Animal Kingdom the heat actually added to the experience. I really felt like I was off in some exotic tropical part of the world, like in those movies where the explorer wanders through some romantically colonized outpost drenched in the sun.

It is surface of the Sun hot! Last August the girls I brought were melting!

AK is the hottest park when it's hot and the coldest when it's cold, apart from the vegetation holding onto the humidity AK was built in a bowl, they excavated a big hole and built the park on it.

AK is hot, but I'm in the camp that thinks World Showcase is worse because of the near-complete lack of shade.

I do nto know if it is worse, but it sure is hot! Last SUmmer we planned a TS break at R&C to make sure we got out of the heat for a while. PSA: R&C sells cold white wine. Combine cold white wine, good food and a sappy Nana, and you have the end of a day. LOL! I guess I cannot hold my wine if I am wicked hot, a bit dehydrated, and full of delicious lunch! My family is still telling anyone who will listen to a TH tey have names that trip teh "I love my family" trip! And that Mom needs a nap!

We normally travel to WDW in the summer months June thru Sept so it's super hot in EVERY park to me .... I've never personally noticed it feeling hotter in AK.

Every August without fail it's the hottest day EVER at AK! Can't figure it out!! We saw someone pass out a couple years ago. We always hydrate!!! And stay in and out of AC. It's so surreal how hot it gets!

Not many AC places in AK. Most of the shops, dining, and even attractions are outdoors. I think that contributes to it seeming so hot. Most of the lines are also outside. No places to escape the heat.

AK always feels hotter to us too. It seems as if the walkways around the park are narrower too. And nothing feels hotter than standing around in the sun watching kids in the sand at that Dinosaur Dog, or whatever it is called! Thank goodness the granddaughters are old enough that this won't be on their list any more!

I'm convinced they put heaters in the ground to make you feel like you're really in Africa. I've heard a lot of people say world showcase is worse, but we usually spend most of our time there in the evenings, so it has never been too bad

I don't know if I'd consider AK any hotter, but I definitely feel like it's more humid. Probably because of all the plants, as others have mentioned. Our favorite way to do AK is in the evening, after an early dinner. We've done this a few times during summer trips and it's much more enjoyable in the evening, and less crowded! I'm sure once all the nighttime AK activities are in full swing the less crowded thing won't be true anymore though. World Showcase is also brutal on a sunny summer day, which is why we also save it for evenings after dinner too.

Yes-it's the one park where my daughters got dehydrated really quickly. We went last August. Go early and plan to leave early - or go in the late afternoon when the sun begins to set.

AK gets less breeze at times because of the foliage/trees, etc. so at times it can make it feel hotter but I agree. World Showcase on a hot sunny day is the hottest to me.

I've never really noticed a difference in any of the parks but I'm one of those people that thinks after a certain temperature it really doesn't feel any different, hot is hot. I've lived in the dessert and on the ocean in the Middle East and it didn't matter if it was 95 or 105, dry or wet, hot was hot. I actually prefer hot but I'm from Georgia and yesterday it was 80 and I was wearing a sweater.

My husband nearly melted from heat on our Disneymoon in AK - he was fine in the other parks. His theory was that because it was so dense with trees, there was no air flow.

I read a guidebook once that referred to AK as the hottest place on the face of the earth. I tend to agree - it always feels at least 10° hotter there than the other parks to me.

EPCOT doesn't really bother me, I think because we spend most of our time inside shops and restaurants at the WS.

Epcot seems so much hotter to me- all that pavement and wide open space for the sun to beat down on you.

Hollywood Studios always seems the hottest park to us. We were there 4th of July last year and it was miserable, and the heat usually doesn't get to me. We left a lot earlier than we originally planned, I think we even skipped our last FP+.

Epcot comes in a close second.

Have been to AK many times and for some reason it always feels Soooo much hotter in this park. Is is just us or has anyone else experienced this? Going in July and kinda worried about it. Hoping to see ROL so we will be there later in the day. (If it's open)
I think it may just be your luck of the day. We go throughout the year and its been a mixed bag of really nice cool weather and like you said really hot.

We went in May 2013 and our family thought AK was very hot. I think the other posters are right about the added humidity for the vegetation, but when we went it was crowded narrow paths and it felt like extra walking just to go around the slower pokes :) I think the added movement made the heat feel worse.
