Are schedule for nights are pretty full but we were interested in seeing the Rivers of light show in AK.
Do you think it will be open by October? Anyone heard of a release date?

Anyways, do you think it's worth it to see AK at night? If not, we will skip it.

No release date yet, and it looks like Jungle Book will be gone as well.

Tree of Life still comes alive and there is the night safari, but the best of all is Expedition Everest at night!

If you're a fan of theme park atmosphere, I'd recommend spending at least a couple of hours just enjoying the park. You can have dinner at some of the best restaurants of any of the parks, enjoy extremely short lines for a few attractions, and just relax.

This really surprised me, but one of the things I liked the most was the street performers at night in Harambe. They're quite talented and come from around the world. The combination of the performances, the beautiful lighting in the park at night, and a nice refreshing beverage. It really felt like I had been transported across the world to an amazing new place.

We will do our usual day touring at AK, but will definitely spend an evening there. I really don't even care about ROL anymore. Who knows how long it's going to take to get it fixed?. DH can't wait to ride EE in the dark and I'd like to do the KS at sunset. Both of us want to watch the Tree of Life and enjoy the live entertainment in Harambe and the Island. Maybe even kick back in the Nomad lounge for a grown-up beverage. Or two.

Jungle book will be gone? Why is there no one watching?

I would say yes, it's worth an evening visit. The crowds are significantly lower...not creepy empty feeling low, but very lightly populated. You'll get on anything you want to. The street parties are entertaining, and it's just a nice place to walk around when it's not so hot out.

I liked AK so much at night that I went back for a second evening. Expedition Everest was really good but my favourite was Kali River Rapids. It was very atmospheric with the mist on the river, the stars and moon above and even little candles at the little statues and shrines.

OMG went last night it was the worst thing I have every seen. It was an embarassment. And a total waste of a FP Oh and the staff and running of the whole event was awful. Who ever planned and ran this event should be fired.

Hmm...that comment may have just made my decision for me regarding whether we should keep our FP for JB or not! :sad2:

I was so hopeful for ROL. We are going in September, and as of right now, have no desire to see JB. I love the original cartoon and don't want anything to spoil that franchise for me. Guess I'll catch ROL on our next trip.

The safari in the evening (dusk) is awesome! We visited twice and had a fp for 7 - 8pm both nights. We saw way more animals than we have ever seen during a morning safari! One night, we had to stop and wait for a family of three rhinos to cross in front of us. The other night, there were giraffes walking right next to the path. We were not fans of the Jungle Book show, but the outdoor entertainment and Tree of Life were neat.

You would never realize it was JB except for one song. I had a hard time telling what it was even about. I was able to recognize 1 fuzzy grey and white wolf that was it. Just alot of loud awful music and dancing. I really wanted to leave and I never have left anything.

Does anyone know if there are plans to extend the hours at AK in October (as that's when the OP [and myself] happens to be going)? Official websites still say AK is only going to be open until 7pm which would just be somewhat dusk-esque as opposed to actually dark.

That's just the way Disney has been rolling lately, slooooooow.
Is July guests were wondering the same question in May.

Definitely worth it to go to animal kingdom at night. Definitely make sure you catch the safari in the early evening, but not too dark yet. The harambe street entertainment was fun to watch as we were passing through. We went early July. Once the sun set we skipped the jungle book show, and spent the last couple hours riding Everest a couple times, taking our time walking through the park, and catching the tree of life at night. The tree of life, and expedition Everest at night alone are reasons to go.

Jungle book was quickly made when ROL sank and they didnt' want to open with no night show. it was always temporary until ROL was finally running.

This was amusing walking by the looooooooooong FP+ line, going on (near walk-on) EE, then strolling into the standby seating (enter by Nemo)
We had all the space we wanted, while the FP+ section was packed in like sardines.

I don't think JB was the worst thing I have ever seen, but it definitely was not up to Disney quality standards.

Is it hard to see the animals at night?
