My family and I were chatting about this yesterday and we all agree....the animal kingdom kind of...well....sucks. In our minds there are 3 good attractions - safari, lion king show, nemo show. Other than that there ain't much to see and do. Plus the walkways are very narrow and the park doesn't have a nice natural "flow" to it like the others.

We go to disney every year and love it to death, but AK is our least favorite and never gets more than 1/2 day.

Helllllooooooo..... Expedition Everest!!!!

And the carvings/sculptures on the Tree of Life are pretty cool.

what about everest, dinosaur and kali river rapids? I'd say those are three good rides right there in my opinion.

I'm sure you know that your going to get hammered by other posters from this act of blaspemy:) but I agree. We go every year and love Disney but AK is by far the worst park of the bunch. We go for less than half a day and hit KS, EE and Dinosaur. We plan on trying out the Lion King this August, didn't like Nemo.

I've read a lot of this since joining the boards (AK is a sucky park), and it makes me even more excited for Animal Kingdom:goodvibes

AK is the only park I've never been to in the World and I am soooo excited to experience it for the first time with my family (DHS and AK are new to my DH and all parks are new to the kiddos!).

Recently my DH told me his fave thing at the zoo when he was a little kid was the birdhouse (I never would have pegged him as a bird man - LOL). With that info, I can't wait to catch the Flights of Wonder show with him!!!

I'm excited for Everest, to find out just how scary Dinosaur really is, to hopefully see Divine...I could go on and on!

Most over hyped coaster ever. The engineering and design that went into that thing is truly spectacular and visually it's stunning. But the ride? Eh. Just kinda ok. Just like the park itself! Gimme space mountain or rockin roller coaster anyday over that one.

We were at Animal Kingdom the first of this month and enjoyed it. We did Dinosaur, Expedition Everest, Kali River Rapids, the safari ride, Nemo show, Festival of the Lion King, It's Tough to Be a Bug, some of the trails, a few character meetings, played for a while on the drums in Africa and watched the parade.

We were there from park opening until 4:00 and had a pleasant day. To each his own, I guess!

Unless you hate rollercoasters, no park that contains Expedition Everest could be said to suck. LOL

While it is not a full day park for us, we would never cut out EE or Dinosaur or Nemo or Lion King or A Bug's Life from our trip to WDW.

It's a change of pace for us. We have been to Epcot and MK so many times that its nice to mix things up with DHS & AK.

Well, I went with my sister and my niece for 5 days/4 nights. We had 4 full days in each park and on our last/departure day we let my niece choose which park she wanted to see again. It was no contest - she chose Animal Kingdom.

So, it's a winner with some.

Different strokes for different folks- AK is one of our favorites. :thumbsup2 I'm glad there are lots of things around WDW to do and see- something for everyone. One person's must do is someone else's no thanks and that's OK with me. That's the best thing about WDW!!

I wouldnt say it sucks, imo.. but its def not my favorite. A half day is more than enough for me. It seems sooooooooo much hotter than the other parks.

I like Ak but its also a 1/2 day park for us. I can see why people CAN spend a whole day or more there. There are some LONG trails...the Conservation Station trip takes a long time...but some of those things can be done once every other trip. Our only must-do's there are EE and KS. There are great details all around, but just not something I want to spend more than 1/2 of a day looking at. I'd rather be in MK. I think the park's concept is great...it just feels like it needs more.

I agree. Especially about the flow of the park. Not one of our favs; definitely a 1/2 day for us. The whole Dino Land area? So lame! There are a few great attractions that we enjoy at AK though.

That being said... We've spent the last 2 years in Africa and they did do a wonderful job on the themeing of the park. And, we've done a real safari in Kenya and they did a great job recreating that for people who will never get to experience the real thing. :thumbsup2

Flights Of Wonder is a really great show.:)

It's not one of our favorites either -- safari, bugs life and dinosaur and that's about it. To each their own. Our last trip we opted to spend a day at Universal instead of going to AK.

I used to think that about AK , but since going this last time, I have totally changed my mind. Now, it's obviously never going to be MK, but it's not designed to be. There's so much there to appreciate and just relax and have fun. And then there's Everest !! We actually made it a 1/2 day park our last trip and it wasn't enough. ( time didn't permit to go back another day, as much as we would have liked).

Our next trip we're planning to spend an entire day there....we found there was SO much more to do that we even realized. I love AK !! :goodvibes

I must be weird, because AK is my 2nd most favorite park - after Epcot.

Everyone's mentioned the rides, which I love...especially Dinosaur and Expedition Everest.

I also enjoy the shows - FOTLK, the Flights of Wonder show, Finding Nemo - they're all very special.

We love to wander down those narrow paths and take in the details, the architecture, the greenery...I think the Imagineers did a fantastic job in getting each area of the AK just right.

Love the safari...also love just watching some of the other animals in the park... the tigers along the Trek...the monkeys that are way up high in the sky....the birds...

Love getting some BBQ at Flame Tree and sitting at a table just watching the people go by....

When the park closes at 5:00 pm, we then hop to another park, but we've managed to get a full day in at AK, and it's always special.

We love Ak!! Out of 5 of us it is mine and dd(7) fav. park! We all love it though. Honestly we would rather go here than MK! We ride Dinosaur, EE, KRR, ITTBAB, KS, and see FotLK multiple times! We are going in Oct and actually have 2and a half days planned here! We really love this park!

We are taking DS who will be 1 in November and are dedicating an entire day to AK, and the only rides we plan on doing are the Safari, the kiddie ride in Dinoland, the train, and switching off to ride EE, plus we'll plan to see Lion King. There is SO much to do in AK besides just riding rides.

I get really annoyed by all of the AK hate. Epcot is my least favorite park, but I don't take the time to make a post about why I don't like it. It seems like there is an "AK sucks" thread every other day! Just because it isn't your cup of tea doesn't mean it sucks.
