The last(and only) time we experienced this (already gorgeous) park at night was in June 2009. Has anyone else experienced AK after dark recently. When was it? We seriously want to plan our next vacation around a time where there is a higher likelihood of EMH(night-time) at AK.

It's breathtaking...we don't want to have to wait for the 2017 opening of Avatarland to experience it, either.

Any advice?

Expedition Everest alone is worth the price of admission after dark!

It was open until 8 o'clock on a Saturday in October last year (Columbus Day Weekend). We were at the park that day, but left before it got dark. We hopped to Magic Kingdom for the 1 AM close there.

I do agree, however, that Animal Kingdom is special after dark. Second only to MK for nighttime beauty in my opinion. Last time we experienced it was June 4 years ago.

Delitium...ahhh...June was our time to experience it after dark the year before. I think it was open until 11 pm though.

Thank you for your response!

Anyone else?

We're going to be there a week from today, on March 8. The park closes at 8:00, and since it's the day before Daylight Savings Time starts, sunset will be at 6:30. I can't wait to see AK at night -- it'll be our first time!

Oh my gosh...you are in for an unforgettable treat!

Please...don't miss that opportunity!

We'll never forget that one magical night in 2009.

We got to stay till 9pm one night in December 2012. It was way past sunset and very dark. They discontinued night EMH at Ak quite a while ago.
But never fear, Avatarland will have a lot of night stuff and there will be a dark parade so it will be open every night in the coming years. :thumbsup2

We were there in Jan 2009 and it was all dark after our dinner at Tusker House. It was very dark and quiet, a very special experience.

We will go there again this mid March and it closes at 8pm. I think it will be dark at that time. Just checked, sunset time will be around 7:27pm.

Minnie222...the lights in the Tree Of Life...the "lantern-lit" pathways...breathtaking.

Personally, I found AK at night even more stunning than the MK at night. When this becomes a nighttime park with Avatarland, everyone is going to ask the question"Why did they wait so long to do this?".

It really is that fantastic.

We used to love the evening EMH at AK, especially the late ones at Easter. Last time we were there to enjoy them was 2010. Then they were gone  Hoping for some late night closing on our upcoming trip - or at least late enough for it to be dark. AK is an amazing park at night.

@2Tiggies...you are the latest date I have found on these boards for after-dark EMH's. I wonder *why* they stopped? I guess there just wasn't enough guests taking advantage of it.

That really surprises me as it seemed that the vast majority of guests seemed enchanted with it when we were there.
