My Dis Godson (5) keeps talking about a game he wants for his birthday called Animal Crossing!

All we can figure out that this is a game for Nintendo and is sort of like SIM's! We are just brilliant here.

Does anyone know anything about this game? Is it good for kids soon to be 6. Is it only Nintendo?

Any help will be appreciated!
Thanks

Does he want the one for Gamecube or Nintendo DS?? (and yes, it is only for Nintendo) It is a real fun game that my boys (11 and 7) love, as well as I do. I think it would be a fine game for him, as long as he can read since that is required.

I believe it's only on Nintendo Game Cube, but don't quote me on that. It's a GREAT game! DH and I bought it for ourselves several years ago. My son just turned 5 and just started playing with it. He loves it!! He loves buying things and mailing packages to people. The one downside is to play the game fully you need to be able read. So, while my son loves playing it, he's not getting anywhere towards the objective of the game.

It's a very nice, relaxing game with nice background music. There's no violence, there's no death. Even tame games like Super Mario or Spyro you're still killing characters and dying.

Basically you create a character and a town. You're given a house by the guy who owns the general store, but you have to pay it off by working for him. And you go around to the other characters doing little chores for them. You can also go fishing, dig for fossils, and catch bugs to sell at the store for money. When you pay off your debt, you can get a bigger house. You can buy things at the store to help decorate your house. It really is a lot of fun and I can't imagine any parent would have any objections over this game.

There is a newer version for the Nintendo DS, called Animal Crossing - Wild World. There are some differances between the two (we have both) the biggest being instead of one house for each player, there is one house for all four.

We love Animal Crossings, all of us. ;) My kids are 9 & 5 and they both really enjoy it. It's a great game, but very addicting.

Great game for little kids!! Both versions are fun, but I slightly prefer the gamecube version.

When it first came out DH's company had 3 day scavenger hunt in that game to find as many things on this list they put out. The winner got a trip to hawaii and there were cool second and third place prizes too! I played for 36 hours straight...and only came in fourth, lol.

Now my son, 8, likes to play it.

I think we just traded it in towards other games, but my boys played it non stop a couple of years ago (??-I can't even remember the time line) for Gamecube.

Not sure if oldest got the DS version, he just took over that system, cause youngest DS just got the PSP.

It's a good non-violent game. The child needs to be able to read or someone will have to sit with them to help them because the players talk to each other and send letters. I think it's educational because they have to save up their bells, which are the money, and pay off loans. It helps with reading and math skills a bit and the kids have too much fun to realize it. :smooth:

Thanks to All!

My Godson who will be 6, said he played this at a friends house. Although this friends parents don't know anything about the game, and have Playstation!!!!!!

He has been talking about this game for weeks now, And we have NO idea where he played it. Nor did we know anything about it!

??????????????????????????????????

I call him Little Man Tate! He does read/write in both English & Spanish (HE WILL BE 6), and is starting to learn Chinese (cause he wants too!!!!!!!!) :cool1:

My quess someone is going to get a new gamecube for their Birthday! :sunny:

Thanks again!

FreshTressa...."DH's company had 3 day scavenger hunt in that game ... trip to hawaii"
Where does DH work????? 3 day scavenger hunt..IN THAT GAME???
You have peaked my curiosity & confused me! :goodvibes

We love this game! We have it for Nintendo Gamecube and DS!! It is addictive!

I find it very relaxing to play - however all I seem to do is run around and pull the weeds all through the town since the kids won't bother with them. The kids have named my character "Buffy the WeedSlayer" :rotfl2:

I love this game. My son made his own town on another memory card and now I can travel bewteen the towns. ( with the 2 memory cards) ALso if you hook up a gameboy sp to the gamecube you get to visit the island.
