His claim to fame was that when the siren went off, instead of retreating to the center of the dorm.....he and his buddies would run to the windows to watch!

My DH did this one time too. I was pregnant and we were living in a second floor apartment. We heard the sirens and the sky got that funny greenish-grey color. I started to panic and he went out to the glass enclosed porch to see if he could see anything.
As it turned out, it wanst a tornado, but a wind something (cant remember the name) It tore through the zoo, where I worked at the time. When I got to work the next day you would have sworn it had been a tornado. Giant trees were yanked from the ground, fences knocked down, etc. Most of the animals in the path were already in their barns for the night so none of them were hurt. No people hurt either. They were either all gone for the night or working at the other end of the park.

Aw, I missed the chat. :( We took Amy to her practice and the three of us went for frozen custard while she was there. We did give her some diet ice cream when she got home. Not fair, I know. But it sounded so good!

Gail, we have tons of storm chasers here. Tell him to come down here some spring. Check this out. http://stormchasing.com/ They have more guts than I have, but you see storm chasers out whenever there is a tornado watch. Usually it's just a van with gizmos on the roof, but once I even saw one like this. http://images.google.com/imgres?img...=storm+chaser+car&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8 OU is getting ready to build a new, huge weather center and we already have the National Weather Service and a National Severe Storms Lab in town.

We had one of those in our neighborhood a few years ago, Bethany. It was caused by a storm cell colapsing. I think they might have called it wind shear? I'm not sure about that though. We were lucky, it just did damage to one of our trees and the kids playhouse/swingset was flattened. Our house was okay.

Gail, there's a method to my madness. If he came to chase storms, you'd HAVE to come too and we could spend the time together, right? :teeth:

today was my turn in nasty weather land, got skirted by a twister which leaves school closed for tommorow(not my idea of fun with little brother on Spring Break a day early).I'm ok and finally have power back(DBF's ok too)

Good morning all!!!!!

Hmmm... while storms are fun to watch, I don't think I'd be chasing tornados!

Cami, thanks for pointing that out... I missed it as well... very cute :rotfl:

Bethany - about 2 yrs ago, there was a Microburst (looks like a tornado happening) by one of local amusement parks. A roof collapsed and killed a girl that was at the park. Very sad. A lot of trees fell all over the park too. A lot of people swore it was a tornado, but it was claimed not to be one.

Taking my DD to the mall to meet up w/ a mom in my DS's class who has a DD around the same age. there's a play area, then we are going to grab some lunch. Tonight, we are going to my church's fish fry w/ my mom.

Thats the word I was looking for. Thanks, it was bugging me

Morning all. Very windy here today but no rain for a change. I can actually see some sunlight.

Why does it seem like the days are all of a sudden moving m,uch slower? As soon as I passed the 3 weeks to go point, it seems like the days are not ticking off the countdown fast enough.

Good morning everyone.

Hopefully that bad weather won't come this way. I think tornados are scarier than hurricanes because you don't get the warning time that you do with a hurricane.

I owe, I owe, so off to work I go.

Shall we analyze this together? :p

Hello!

Busy day today. Lou love the recap and the yearbook picture!

Sparring class today, get to kick butt for fun.

Speaking of weather it is going to be 74degrees today and snow tomorrow.
Have a great weekend everyone. I'm working all weekend in my nurse's uniform. I didn't want anyone to be confused.

Sue

I have been witness to 3 actual tornados in my life. I was between 4-6 the first 2 times. The first one I remember my mom telling dad if the tornado didn't kill him she would. A neighbor and dad were standing in the courtyard where we lived watching the storm. Their coats were straight up over their head:rolleyes: :earseek: The next one I just remember hiding in my relatives basement and my brother screaming becuase he wanted a bottle.
The scariest was when I was 11 and camping with my aunt and my brother (now 7, but still screaming) We had a break in the storm that was going over so we packed up and left. Shortly after the tornado touched down a few miles away. I remember looking out the car window and thinking all I had to do was stand on the car and I would be able to touch the swirling clouds.

Ok I really need to get dressed and get cleaning. Grandma is coming in the morning to spend the day. Turns out I will have her Sat., Tues.,Wed.,and Thurs. She is getting more violent all the time especially when things change and she is confused.:(
It's like having a 2yr old sometimes and an adult other times. I'm afraid that mom and dad are going to have to considered longterm care for her by next year if she continues to decline at this rate:(
The person I ordered Girl Scout cookies may be on her way.(Just got an email) I better hurry and put on clothes. (Currently in my night clothes so I do have something on just not reg. street clothes yet:p )Later:wave:
