Angelrose's Journey

I'm sharing funnel cake on all my threads today, have some:

It has no calories! (after all, it's not real!) ;)

For some reason whenever I find a penny I think my MIL sent it! I found one in the parking lot of the church last Saturday; she would have loved that party! I threw it in the trunk of the car and brought "her" with us!

I am the same way with Toby! Every time I find money, I think, "Thank you, Toby...I know you are with us, sweetie." Same thing with rainbows - after the rain or could be anywhere - we know he is saying he is there.

That funnel cake looks sooo yummy!!!!

:thumbsup2 on the rainbow!!

When I bought the dress for the party, we came out of Macy's and DH found a dime - I said "she likes the dress!". Then the penny in the parking lot.

It sounds weird, but whenever there is a fly in the house (it's going to sound gross) I know my Mom is around. There was a joke in my family that a fly was my grandfather. Every holiday, even winter ones like Christmas, there was one fly in the house and we never killed it.

There have been strange times in my life when there was one big fly on the kitchen window and I knew my Mom was watching after me.

Now that you think I'm a total loon, have some more funnel cake!

I LOVE the fly story!! You're talking to another loon so it would take a whole lot more than that to make me think you've had too many funnel cakes this morning.:goodvibes Speaking of funnel cake..think it is time for another slice.

Before my Mom passed away she saw this house we wanted to buy and she loved it. A couple of years went by, she passed away, etc. It was February and there was a big fly on my kitchen window at my country house. The phone rang and our neighbor told us he was moving and did we still want the house??
OMG! We waited 7 years for that house!

Well, people tell me it's not possible, but that fly lived for 3 weeks in my country house, in February. As soon as we knew we were getting the house the fly died.

As I type I can hear Sophia having a bit of a meltdown...we are about to head to Target to do one of those BIG Target shopping mornings. No stroller - I'm funny, I know, but can't manage to push a shopping cart and stroller at the same time.:rotfl:

Let's hope she wants to sit in the cart and have some popcorn...and does not get feisty and decide to run around...that is rare, but if she's tired or having a tough day, it can happen.

Can you believe she'll be 3 in Sept!

Well, I believe it and it got me all teary in a good way. I just love stories like that. I am happy you got the house - is that where you live now? I'm very sorry your mom passed. How long has it been? My dad and mom passed in 2002 a few mos apart...Toby just 2 yrs before - being a very small family, we lost our entire family, except for my DD.

Life goes on and renews...now we have DD Sophia...who is VERY much like her Uncle Toby!!!! NEVER gives up, very determined! ;)

:rotfl: No pun intended, of course!:rotfl:

Thank you about Sophia - my friend sent her the bow - it has Minnie in the center and matches Sophia's Minnie...which we bought when we took a road trip to the nearest Disney store, over an hour from us. She finally LOVES Minnie & Mickey, but watching Mickey Clubhouse seems to be too much for her and she begins to stammer something awful - think it is too much for her little brain. She does fine with Olivia or Caillou. We cut out Mickey completely and the stammering stopped. It's not stuttering, but stammering, trying to begin a sentence. Make sense?

Sophia has Mickey-itis! :cutie:

Sorry, I was doing laundry.

My Mom passed away in 1996 and my Dad in 2001.
I'm the youngest of 3 girls (I'm 54 (but 18 in my mind), my sisters are 61 and 64). We also lost my BIL 2 1/2 years ago. My sisters each have two children and two grandchildren. My DH and I never had kids, so it's the two of us.

The house is our part-time home until DH retires next year. During the week I have an apartment in NY. I'm getting ready for a 3-day weekend now, have to leave soon.

Have a wonderful weekend, it was nice to talk to you. I'll be back Monday night!!

snapppy, Did you know there is book written about this very subject, I am sorry I can't remember the name. It was written by relative of 9/11 victim and she had a similar experience as you have had. She interview many relatives of 9/11 victims and they told her their experience and she put all this into a book. No you are not a loon. I will try to find out the name of this book. It's amazing!

hello everyone. I had such a good time babysitting the kids on Friday. I didn't think it would be all day! Chuck came home around 2 and asked me to stay while he did the mowing. Luckily both kids were sleeping at the same time. I had a 20 minute nap and then Miss Zoey woke up. She wasn't happy and was crying and nothing could make her happy. I finally gave her some crunchies and her bottle and she settled down. Jesse woke about an hour later.

They were both pretty good all day. Jesse had a mini meltdown when it came time for his nap. But I told him, no nap, no surprise and Grandmom won't play with you until you take a nap.

Poor kid was falling asleep on the floor while he was saying he didn't want a nap. LOL

Karen came home around 3:30 and asked if I wanted to go out to dinner for an early Father's day dinner. Chuck wanted Sunday all by himself to do nothing. LOL So we went out to a wonderful Italian restaurant near Smithville. Jesse got a big plate of spaghetti, Karen and I both got the veal parm and Chuck got the crab ravioli. OMG everything was sooo good. Sorry Weight Watchers I totally blew my diet! I brought most of the veal home and gave my linguini to Karen to take home for Jesse. Would you believe that he ate almost that whole plate of spaghetti? I don't know where he put it.

Jesse had a piece of chocolate cake for dessert and Karen had the same. Chuck and I had creme brule (sp) pie. Now that was outstanding. I never had that before.

We rolled out of there and took a walk at Smithville. My friend's store was still open so we went in to say hi. Karen bought Jesse a pirate outfit and a pirate puzzle. He loves Jake and the Neverland Pirates so he will love being a pirate for Halloween and for the Pirate's Adventure at DW in February.

I got home around 8 and got a bath and just settled in front of the tv for the evening. I slept REALLY well last night.

Christine, that picture of Sophie is just adorable. What beautiful blue eyes she has!

I would love to read that book, thank you! Hope you can remember the name.:flower3:

Sunday was such a fun day. I got to the kids house around 10:30 and Jesse gave me my usual great greeting. That just warms my heart.

We got to Storybook Land right a 11 when they open. I rode a couple of rides with Jesse, but most of the rides he could go on himself. He had a great time. Zoey just looked all around and smiled. We got burger and fries for lunch and then back to more rides. It was a great day to be there. It was cloudy and a nice breeze for most of the day. Jesse was starting to get tired and we left around 2:30.

I started out the day walking without my cane for about two hours. After that I needed it! By the time we left, I REALLY needed it. But it was fun.

We stopped at the mall on the way home to get Jesse some new sandals and then home. Miss Zoey was tired and hungry. Chuck asked if I wanted to stay for dinner since they were grilling chicken and beef kabobs.

They had just bought a new patio set and we ate outside on the back porch. It was so tasty. I ate two of them! What a piggie.

It was almost 7 by the time I left. It was the kids bedtime and I was tired too. I came home and just vegged all night.

I talked to Karen about maybe moving into a retirement community. I just can't keep up the grounds here anymore. I have ten wooded acres and the underbrush is knee high now. Ron used to mow it down every fall. He said that was his fitness test. LOL But it hasn't been done in 3 years now. I would like to have a smaller house, but the retirement homes are tiny.

Karen said I would have to downsize. But I would have to have at least 3 bedrooms. One to sleep, one for my computer and one for storage. I have so many holiday decorations. If I could get enough for this house as is and the acreage I would love to get a home just like the kids have. It would be perfect for me. If only I could have enough left over for a pool in the backyard I would be so happy. I really need a pool in the summer. The one year that I didn't open it, I just sat all summer long. It was horrible and I felt awful. I always feel good after a nice two hour swim.

Well, we will see what happens. I will miss this house. So many wonderful memories here.

There is a beautiful community near Manahawkin on Route 72, they are still building and the houses are very big for a "retirement" community. They have both indoor and outdoor pools, community center, etc. Do you know where Southern Ocean Hospital is? It's not far from there. I'll ask DH the name later!

Thank you snappyd for thinking of me. I do know where the hospital is. I used to go to Ocean Acres for my organ lessons. I visited my organ teacher in the hospital there.

Manahawkin is too far away from the kids. I want to be in either Smithville or Absecon. But they are beautiful homes for sure. Now if I could get around $400,000 for my house and property and find something similar around here I might just take the plunge. I just have to take it slow and find what is the right thing for me.

Mary, did you get any bad storms today? I just heard that Whiting (where my house is) had a lot of damage today. I'm up in NY til Friday night and worried about my house. I tried to call a neighbor, but they weren't home.

No we didn't get anything at all. But I did see some black clouds heading north of me and heard the thunder. We usually miss the storms. It follows the river and we luck out.

Hope your house is OK.
