Angelrose's Journey

Thank you debknight. Just some days are harder than others.

Today was one of THOSE days. I started to watch Criminal Minds that I had recorded last night. There was only 10 minutes left and I stopped it to watch Rachael Ray. I had my lunch while watching The Price is Right. My tooth broke while eating a piece of Weight Watchers candy. I think I must have cracked it before because it just came off in the candy. Dental appointment next Thursday morning. That's going to cost.

When I was switching back to my music station on the tv, my DVR decided to freeze up. So I pull out the card and wait 2 minutes for it to reboot and then another 5 for it to get back to normal. Then I tried to watch the last 10 minutes of Criminal Minds. It had erased that whole show and the other Criminal Minds that came after it. GRUMBLE!

Then I went to my Weight Watchers meeting tonight and I GAINED 1.2 pounds. Not a happy time.

Tomorrow I am going to drown my sorrows and go shopping.

Yesterday I went to the craft fair at Smithville. It wasn't as big as some years. But I had a good time walking around and bought some spicy hard pretzels. I got them every year. They are made locally. I talked to my friend for a while. I know she was busy so I didn't want to keep her from it. I walked around some more and talked to a lady that makes these great soft sculptures. I have about 16 of her work. I talked to her for about a half hour and then came home.

The weather had been threatening all day, but there was only a small shower in the afternoon, so I hope they made out well.

After lunch and a nap, I just vegged until it hit me that I didn't go pick up the mail for the kids. This hit me around 5pm. So I got dressed and drove over to their place. It was funny. All the way over, I was thinking that maybe they came home early.

So I drove into their driveway and got the mail and unlocked the door and heard voices. Yep, they had come home early. Jesse ran to me and gave me a big hug and asked if I brought any cars for him. Since I didn't expect them to be home I did. He was OK with that. Then all in one breath he asked if I would go down the basement and play with him. LOL AWWWWW I told him I couldn't this time. I sat down and talked to the kids for a few minutes. I knew they were tired. They got in at 5:30 in the morning and Zoey woke them at two hours later. They did have a great time but Karen got a cold the last day.

Jesse was on my lap hugging me the whole time. When he got up Zoey was reaching for me, so I had to hold her. She is just such a doll. Smiling at me and happy to see me. Jesse got a bit jealous, but I put him on my lap too. Then after a while, he gave me another big hug and told me he gave me a big hug. LOL I told him I gave him a big hug back. He so wanted me to stay, but I could see Chuck and Karen were exhausted. Jesse started to fuss that I was leaving, so I gave Zoey back to Karen and told Jesse I would do "piggies" with him and then I would go.

Now Jesse's feet are ticklish to begin with, so when I touched his toes he started laughing. By the time I did "weeee, weee, weee all the way home", he was laughing so hard. Of course after the 3rd "weeee" I tickle his tummy. Then I had to do the other foot. Then he was happy. I got another hug and wished everyone a goodnight and came home.

I'm still smiling at those Jesse hugs. I'm sure Zoey will be giving hugs soon too. She is 8 months old now. Another couple of months to wait.

I just looked up air fares for when we leave for Disney in February. Not too bad. Around $300 round trip, including baggage fees. I won't book until the fall. Maybe they will go down in price by then. :rotfl::rotfl2:

Good morning! The weather looks horrible today and for the coming week :guilty:

I hurt my back this weekend so I'm going back to bed. Angel that was so nice of you to get dressed and go pick up the mail! You deserved all those hugs!!!

Did you uncover your pool yet? Doesn't it seem like we were just buried in snow and soon we will be swimming?

Oh snappyd, I'm so sorry you hurt your back. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

I won't uncover my pool until the first week in June. I have to wait until the pollen dies down a bit and all the strings are off the oaks. But I will call the pool man next week to let him know when I want him to come.

The fond memories I have of snow are slowly fading. :rotfl: I can't wait to begin swimming. I probably won't be able to get in the pool before the second week in June at least. I have to let the solar heaters warm up the water. Then I have the fun of cleaning out the bottom. The pool man only takes out the leaves. The pine needles and oak strings I have to get out with the net. Plain old dirt I can vacuum up. It always looks so nice when I finally get it clean and the chemicals all in.

I went to see Thor in 3D today. I thought it was very cute and the special effects were amazing. It was very humid all day today. Tomorrow were supposed to get some rain for a few days. I was hoping I could get in my walks but it doesn't look like it.

We are in the pine barrens, I can't wait for the pollen season to end. My porch is dark green, look at this pollen!

IMG_5671.jpg

It's like someone poured yellow talcum powder everywhere! We can't sit outside for at least another week. :scared1:

ewwww....snappyd! That's a lot of pollen.

We're finally done with rain (I think). It's so rare for us to have any measurable rain in May. The surrounding hills are usually brown by now - just starting to lose the green.

Angelrose, your grandchildren are such a blessing.

We've had rain all week, we're hoping for a nice weekend.

EWWWWWWWWW snappyd that looks much worse than here in Port Republic. THe pollen has been down a bit since we've had all the rain. I guess we'll get more next week when it gets dry and in the upper 80's.

Good news for me. I lost that 1.2 pounds I gained last week and another pound also. I am now down 46.8 and finally below 160. I am so thrilled, you have no idea. It looks like I may lose that 50 pounds before the family dinner next month. If not I will be close.

Tomorrow I am going to try and do 6 rounds at Smithville for WW. I usually do just three. I know I can do 4. Today I just felt so good doing 3 rounds, that I am going to try and double it tomorrow. If I do, next week I will get a little charm for my keyring. Funny how those little cheap trinkets mean so much.

I went to the dentist this morning because I broke a tooth. Well $275 later, he made a foundation and next week I will get a crown. Lord knows how much that will cost.

Ron used to walk around the parking lot while he was waiting for me at the dentist. Today as I sat in the chair, I could almost see him walking around. Just almost. Maybe he was trying to tell me he was watching over me. He was such a kind, thoughtful man.

Thank you Julie. My grandchildren are what keep me going.

AngelRose, you are an inspiration with the weight loss. I only need to lose a few pounds, but I'm stuck in a rut with eating so much italian food I just can't shake it!

A got a crown last month, it cost over $800 and the insurance hardly kicked in anything :sad2:

We are coming down to NJ tonight, I'm going to hose off the porch and hope it stays clean. We are going to a Sugarland concert at PNC Arts center tomorrow night, I hope it doesn't rain!

have a great weekend!:upsidedow

OMG snappyd, I hope that mine won't cost that much. EEEEKKKK!!

Now if you really want to lose a few pounds, I would recommend Weight Watchers. It's so easy to follow. And you can eat whatever you want as long as you watch your portions and points. You'd be surprised at how fast a few pounds can come off.

Today I did the WW Walk at Smithville. It's just a thing they do to get people to start exercising. Most people are going to do the 5K at Ocean City on Sunday on the boardwalk at Wonderland Pier. I couldn't make that so I did my own walk. I went 8 times around the whole village. Now I usually only do 3 and sometimes 4. But I did 8 times today. Those last two rounds were really hard. When I finally sat down and talked to my friend my ankle swelled up and was killing me.

I asked some nice man to take my picture so I could give to our WW leader.

I still look so FAT. I really have to lose another 30 pounds.

I may be babysitting Zoey tomorrow afternoon. Chuck asked if I would watch her while he does the mowing. Karen is taking Jesse to Storybook Land. I was hoping to go to the Rennasance (sp??) fair at Smithville. It's the first one they've ever had so I am curious to see what it will be like. I'll ask Chuck if I can come at 1 instead of 12 so I can take a quick look and then zip over to his house. We'll see if that will make him too far behind schedule. I can always see it next year if it's a success.

You look fantastic!!!!!!!!! I'm sorry I didn't see this before :woohoo::woohoo:

You do not look fat, you look wonderful! I keep saying I'm going to get moving, but I never seem to get off my fat bahookie ;) This computer has made me into a "chair potato".

Just think how great it will be when you can exercise in the pool! :)

I got the temporary crown in on Tuesday. Well, it's going to cost me $800. Nope, it's going to cost me around $1,250! :scared1: Oh well, it has to be done. I get the crown in three weeks.

Yesterday was a hard day for me. It's been two years since Ron fell. I can't believe it's been that long. I still remember all that happened and at what time. Not a good day.

Today was better. I got gel nails again. They look so pretty and it gives me a boost. I needed that. I went to my weigh in and gained .4. I'm just not going to worry about it until I can get in the pool and swim for at least two hours a day. Through July and August I swim four hours a day. Then maybe I can make some decent progress. I'm keeping to the points, but I just can't get enough exercise every day.

Thank you snappyd for the compliment. I will keep working until I reach my goal.

Oh my goodness, I can't believe it's been two years :guilty: You are doing so good, I don't think I could be as strong as you have been.:hug:

Don't worry too much about the weight, I think this humid weather makes us retain water. I'm worried about my husband, his feet and ankles are looking very swollen. I told him he is going back to the doctor on Tuesday, after the long weekend. He is on lipitor, Lovasa, caduet for high blood pressure and high cholesterol - he is only 54. About 30 pounds overweight - but how do you tell an Italian he can't have chicken parm and spaghetti every night???

Time to turn in, I'll look for you tomorrow!

Thanks snappyd. As for being strong, I don't have much of a choice. You have to go on. And I have been blessed with a great family that include me in everything.

I know Ron would want me to be happy. I do the best I can.

You should get your husband out walking every day. That will help with the weight and everything else. I'm Italian too so I know how tempting those foods are. I have it easy because I'm not a big fan of pasta. SHOCKING I know. But I do put spaghetti sauce on a lot of things. I love the stuff. But I get one that is low in fat and calories. The Classico brand. I put it on eggs, chicken, even pork at times. I found that it doesn't go well with tuna or beef. :rotfl:

ha-ha - that last line was funny: "spaghetti sauce ...doesn't go well with tuna or beef" I don't think I've ever had spaghetti sauce with tuna - somehow this cracked me up!

I did the Weight Watchers 5K last Sunday with my sister. We took over an hour. Sis even used her walking sticks - she said it helped but she usually uses them on trails. We need to pick up our walking - we leave for Disneyland in just over 3 weeks.

Angelrose - glad you got through another milestone. Even though you have been through all those "firsts", it must still be difficult. Keep doing what you're doing!

Angelrose, I think you look great and know you must feel better on WW program, you go girl :goodvibes! No doubt you'll feel even better once you start back swimming. Chuck would be so proud of you! :thumbsup2

I tried to find this thread in time yesterday to let you know I offered a prayer for you, but for some reason couldn't find it to save my soul. :guilty:

Good luck w/your crown, I am in the process of getting a one also :guilty:. Unfortunately mine would not properly seal after two visits of trying, so I am in order to see a surgeon to laser a bit of gum for proper fit.. Joy, joy, ching, ching!

Wishing you have a relaxing Memorial Day week end w/family making special memories :goodvibes. Our family is headed to vist our out of state kids in N.C. to celebrate our sweet DGS 5th birthday. Really looking forward to it, will be wonderful to have our 4 adults kids, spouses, and all the grands together for fun times. :lovestruc

He does walk every day on his lunch hour, never misses no matter what the weather. We are both pasta freaks, and we love beer. We don't stand a chance in the big belly department :lmao:

Hope you have an absolutely beautiful weekend!

snappy, you look great, not fat at all. As far as crowns, I paid 2,000 & 2200 for two crowns. I think it just awful.Gee, I haven't been to Smithville in yrs. When I loved in NJ use to love to go there on Sunday for dinner. We pass it by and go on to Cape May.

Thank you everyone for the kind words of encouragement. It is still hard for me to pass these milestones. I don't think it will ever be "easy".

I had a wonderful birthday weekend. I spent Saturday babysitting the kids. They were both very good. No trouble at all, thank goodness. Zoey was in such good spirits even though she wasn't feeling the best. She had a big smile on her face most of the time. When I would take her down in the basement to play, she would sit there and then crawl around to grab Jesse's toys! She didn't want to play with her toys. LOL She loved to bang on his metal dump truck. Then when Jesse wasn't looking she would play with his cars. I think she may have some of Grandmom's devil in her eyes too. She wants to do everything her brother does. And she wants to WALK. She is trying to stand up.

Jesse had a bit of a problem going to sleep Saturday night. I put him to bed at 7, but it was still light out and he kept telling me he wasn't tired. Yeah, but Grandmom is tired. :rotfl: I went up twice when he was crying. I told him he had to go to sleep, but he wouldn't lay down. I told him "fine, stay sitting up, but you are NOT getting out of that bed." I didn't hear a peep out of him the rest of the night.

I took my bath around 8 and went downstairs to watch the food channel. I fell asleep around 9. I did wake up at 10 and stayed up to watch the news and weather. I slept pretty good on the pull out bed.

Today wasn't too bad either. I let Jesse watch Jake and the Neverland Pirates a lot today. We did go down and play in the basement, but I just couldn't go down there a second time this morning.

The kids called and said they would be home around noon and we could go out for lunch instead of dinner if I wanted. That sounded good to me.

Jesse and Zoey were so excited to see mommy and daddy again. We went to Red Robin. Yeah, I know, great for somebody trying to lose weight. But I was fairly good. I had cole slaw instead of french fries and only ate half of the multi grain bun. But the bad part of me also ate 3 onion rings.

I don't even want to think of what the scale will say this week.

When we got back I cut my red velvet cupcake in half for Jesse and me. He only ate the cake part since he doesn't like icing. I ate my half and finished the icing on his. There is just no hope for me. :lmao:

I can see Ron smiling at all this. He always gave me two birthday cards. One cute and one romantic. I put a lot of them out on Friday. It makes me feel good.
