This little guy was found by Larry's dad almost 2 weeks ago. He was in a busy 4 lane highway and almost got hit by a few cars. He didn't get hit by a car but just fell over. Larry's dad blocked traffic to pick the little guy up out of the middle of the super busy highway! I told him I was very proud of him!

Anyway, on the way to the vet the little guy started having seizures. The only vet opened yet was the emergency vet - which just sucks all of the money out of you they can get! They told him they thought the little one could be saved and that they knew he wasn't hit by a car. Larry's dad left to pawn his guns to cover the expenses.

Have to back up for a minute. Larry's dad took a different route this morning because the gas station was out of his newspaper at the outside paper stand. He didn't want to go inside & pay the extra 6 cents in taxes. So...he went looking for another paper stand.

Okay, back to the pawning of the guns...While he was at the pawn shop, trying to get at least $500, the vet called to say that the x-rays were showing bullet fragments in his skull. SO, trying to save 6 cents he ended up pawning his guns to save a dog that was shot. That is wild!

Luckily the bullet didn't penetrate his skull, but just slid along the outside curve of the skull. Which means NO permanent damage!!!

I almost came home with a week old kitten today. The mom was no where to be found and a dog was trying to eat the 4 kittens. Luckily a lady found them just in time. If I wasn't leaving next weekend I would have brought the little black one home. He was so cute! Since they have to be bottle fed every 2 hours I didn't think that was far to leave Larry doing for a week all alone. We gave them lots of tips for care & I hope they keep it up. The store we have events at, Tractor Supply, donated some formula to them. That's a great store!

Did I tell you that I work at adoption events now? We have them every other week. We are working towards building a no-kill shelter. Something I really want to do! So it was great to find this group. I started with them in December. I'm their Event Director. But I really just do whatever needs to be done.

I love walking around talking to all the dogs. I tell them how cute they are and that they are loved.

Yes, I seem to remember your saying that you work at the adoption events. I hope you get the funding for a no kill shelter. We have a couple of them around here. But even those are getting too many to care for with the money they have. I give to them when I can.

It is sweet of you to give to them! Sadly they do fill up so quickly. More people need to be aware of the importance of spay/neuter. They just don't understand.

Larry just said he thinks his dad is going to keep the new pup he found.

Right now I need to work on a mailing list for the rescue. We want to try to get monthly donors. The county we are in has very high unemployment & extremely low wages, so there are lots of obstacles there. But I know we can work together and get a shelter!

We have 2 cats (I like to say that I rescued them from their rescuers!) One is such a scaredy-cat. Neither likes to be picked up. But - they're a part of our family; I just wish they were a little bit snuggly.

I thought yesterday's show was great. Everyone did well. I thought Len was so harsh on Ralph. I do agree that he was a bit stiff with the samba but give the guy a break like all the others.

I still don't like Kendra. She just seems like a big phoney.

I have to show you a conversation between Karen and Jesse yesterday.

Mommy: Did you listen to your teach today (Miss April)?
Jesse: NOOO!
Mommy: Why didn't you listen? Jesse you are supposed to listen to Miss April.
Jesse: Mommy....Miss April wasn't at school today.
Mommy: Oh, Who was your teach today?
Jesse: Miss 'cole (here name is Nicole)
Mommy: did you listen to Miss Nicole and pay attention to her.
Jesse: No, I didn't (in a very matter of fact tone).

That was after he came running to her and said, "MOMMY, I was a good boy today."

Typical Jesse. I just love that little guy.

Aww, some cats are just that way. Galaxy wants to snuggle on his terms and Luna almost never wants to snuggle. She is a huge scaredy cat. It was sweet of you to take them in!

Thank you! Saturday night my mother & sis were telling me that we don't need any more because I was telling them about that kitten. I don't take them in just for the sake of taking one in. I take in one that speaks to me. Does that make any sense?

Shiny Boy is the most unique and cute name I have ever heard for a dog

Thank you. I try to keep a theme going with my animal's names. We have Galaxy, Luna, Shiny Boy & Cosmo. Last year we took in 2 stray kittens that we named Hayley & Comet. All of these names relate to something with the stars and with music. I've always loved stars and music is a huge part of my life.

Galaxy is named after a song "In The Galaxy". It started with him because I wanted a cool name for a black cat that wasn't a typical black animal name.

Luna is from a line in August Rush "crazy like a loon" and changed a bit to also mean moon. Wonderful movie if you've never seen it! Of course one of my favorite singers wrote a song that is featured in the movie twice.

Hayley & Comet were named after Haley's Comet & a Shinedown song.

Cosmo because that also falls into the theming. She's black too so I wanted another cool black dog name. She was just named "Blackie" when we adopted her. I didn't like that so much.
