Angela's Journey to the Life She Deserves (Posts Welcome!)

Angela, congratulations on the 9 pounds! That's absolutely wonderful! Good luck with the visit to your family. How great that you and your sister have a plan. That's a lot better than winging it, since you'll be letting your sister down as well as yourself this way!

And I know what you mean about your son. My DS is 17 months younger than his sister and they are so different. When DD was sick as a baby, she spike a really high temp (104 was typical). DS never spiked a temp at all, but he'd be just as sick. It got to the point where if his nose was running, I took him to the Dr. I even bought one of the ear checkers myself because I thought maybe I was over-reacting. But every time his nose ran, he had an ear infection. He did eventually out-grow them, probably about 3 years old.

Yes, I did forget to mention the part about them outgrowing ear infections! Thank goodness for that at least!:p
You just keep going with that exercise! You are doing so great! And I see you had some strawberries - yummy!!:smooth: Good job handling the munchies craving. It is definitely better to just give in a little than to abstain and then just end up going hog wild!!!
Have a great day Angela!! Your doing so well!!:sunny:

Hi Angela,
I got a gift last night of Russel Stovers Mint Patties and I thought of you :D . I had one today and they are sooo good. As far as fat and calories not too bad either since since the serving size is six patties and I get to divide all the fat and calories by six by only eating one ;) ! Hope you have a great day and keep on doing what you're doing :sunny: !

Hi everyone!

tkd lisa--Thanks for the congratulations! It sure feels great to be 9 pounds lighter. :Pinkbounc I think I'll be the queen of overreactors with DS and his ears. I've ordered the Ear Check device so I can calm my nerves, if nothing else. At least it won't be forever.

Sharon--Thanks for the encouragement. I can always count on you! :teeth: The strawberries were very tasty, and I thought of you when I bought them.

Val--Yet another source of encouragment to me. Thanks so very much! Are those mint patties wonderful? I'm out, and I really think I'm going into withdrawal! I'm going to have to run by the store before I head out of town tomorrow. :p

Today's been a crazy day  since I've been trying to get the entire house cleaned, finish up the laundry and get packed for our trip. Am I the only one who thinks the house needs to be spotless before I leave town? DH isn't even coming with me, but I've got this need to leave an immaculate house behind when I head out tomorrow afternoon. A friend whose son is in DD's class invited us to Chic-Fil-A for lunch this morning, so I hit Dottie's site to figure out my points. I really wasn't hungry at breakfast this morning, so I splurged a little at lunch. The munchie monster was visiting again today (hope this isn't a pattern!), but I stayed within my points and didn't have to dip into those flex points.

I reached my exercise goal for the first part of this week! :Pinkbounc I did a mile on the treadmill while DD was at school, and I did the other 3 miles this evening. That temptation to call this evening's exercise off was there, but I stuck to my goal and did it. I feel so much better now. DH says I look like I feel much better than I did before I started working out, and he's so right. It's amazing how just a little change can make such a big difference!

Anyway...We're heading to Dallas tomorrow afternoon to spend the night with my sister, and then we're off to Houston Friday morning. I'll check in as often as I can over the next week. If I don't get to your journal, guys, please know that I'm thinking of EACH of you and cheering you on! ::yes::

Have a good night everyone!

hey angela, i know i'm really late on this one, but i must congratulate you on that 9 pound loss!!! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

that really is a great accomplishment, i'm so happy for you :teeth:

and it sounds like you have a really great plan for when you're away. that's so wonderful that your sister wants to be exercising too, so you can do it together. the support from your family is such a great thing to have, makes doing this just a little bit easier :)

i'm so sorry about your poor ds! i'm definitely not an expert (no children of my own, i'm definitely not there yet :p), but the first thing i thought was that it's probably from dd bringing stuff home from school. then i got to everyone else's responses, and welp, looks like they got that covered :). i hope that he is feeling better.

i know you won't see this since you're travelling, but i hope you have an absolutely wonderful trip :hyper:

:wave2: Good morning Angela!
Just wanted to stop and wish you a safe and fun trip! Take care of yourself and enjoy time with your family. Oh yes, and the mint patties are good ::yes:: (almost too good, I pawned some of them off on the kids yesterday just so I wouldn't have so many in the house).

Enjoy your trip, Angela!!! Hope you have great weather and great times with your family! :sunny:

Angela,
Congratulations on your 9 lb loss!!!!! You (and those great folks supporting you) have inspired me to join WISH as soon as I finish here.

I think we share a lot in common and you have really inspired me!

Hope you're having a great trip!

Good morning, everyone!

I'm just stopping by for a quick post before the kids and I head out for Houston. Yesterday was great! It's always nice to be able to spend some time with my sister, even if it's only for a few hours. We took the kids to the Rainforest Cafe and then to Build-A-Bear. This was DD's reward for getting a stellar report card this semester. (Couldn't resist the chance to brag just a bit.) :teeth:

I did 1 mile on the treadmill yesterday morning before making the mad dash to get things packed and the house in tip-top shape. I'm sure DH has trashed it by now, but at least it was sparkling when I left. :) We pulled out of town right at 2pm, which is the time I told my sister I'd head out, and I was so proud of myself because I am NEVER on time. Wouldn't you know it...I got about 10 minutes down the road when I realized that I'd forgotten DS's medicine dispenser and, worst of all, my bras! Can't be gone for a week+ with just one of those, so we turned around and picked things up. Just goes to show that the best laid plans never turn out, at least in my case.

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. You all are simply wonderful! Welcome to the DIS lovesdumbo. You're going to be so inspired by all these WISHer's. They're truly amazing!

Hope that you all have a great day! :sunny:

3/11:
B--NutriGrain strawberry minis--3 points
L--Roasted turkey & cheese on white, BBQ Baked Lays--6 points
S--NutriGrain strawberry minis--3 points
D--Buffalo fried chicken salad--huge points, I'm sure, but I decided to splurge and use my banked points (and then some, probably)

I'll get to everyone's journals as soon as I can! Just know that I'm thinking of each of you!

Have a great trip Angela!!! Keep up the good work, you are doing SO well! You truly are an inspiration to a lot of us!;)
Rainforest and Build a bear are two of my kids favorites! (and mine :teeth: ) Glad you had a chance to enjoy them!
Make sure you keep getting your water in while you're away. Sometimes it is easy to forget the water when your not in your usual environment.
Have a great trip! Hope the weather is good!

Angela! You are doing a great job!! Congrats! I just finished reading your journal. Keep up the good work!

BTW, your kiddos are adorable!!!!

Have a safe and fun trip!

:wave2: Hope you have a great week at your parent's house. Sounds like a really nice evening with your sister and her kids last night. We've never done Build-a-bear but I would love to try is some time. Wishing you nice weather for your vacation :sunny: !

Good morning everyone!

We arrived safely in Houston yesterday afternoon. The 4 hour drive took us closer to 6 hours because we stopped for lunch and then got stuck in a lovely traffic jam north of Houston. Our lunch stop was at Burger King, and I had some of the chicken tenders. Evidently my body has zero tolerance for them because I spent the rest of the drive and most of the evening feeling quite ill. Because of that I didn't really work out, so my streak is over. I'll make up for it today, though.

Sharon--Thanks for the reminder about the water. I've become a fish so I'm hoping that I'll be able to keep up my intake while I'm down here. :)

Desiree--Thanks for the compliment about my kids. I think they're adorable, too. :p

Val--You'll definitely have to try Build-A-Bear sometime. It's so much fun!

I hope that you all have a great day! I'm going to veg out with the family and watch my team in the Big 12 Tournament. Go Pokes! :teeth:

 to you all!

3/12:
B--nothing...I was still stuffed from last night!
L--7 Burger King Chicken Tenders--8 points
S--6 Peanut Butter Crackers--4
D--4 squares (counts as 2 slices according to Dottie) Domino's cheese pizza-8

I came in under the low end of my points, but I just didn't feel up to eating much of anything. Maybe this will cover the outrageous amount of points I'm sure was in that salad I had Thursday night.

~Angela :wave2:

Hey Angela,
I was just searching for your journal while you were posting. Couldn't find it until I noticed you had posted, bumping it to the top  . Glad to hear you all arrived safe and sound despite the traffic jam. I hope you have a great time today watching your team (I'm guessing you're talking college basketball?). I don't know too much about sports unless we're talking Nascar or NFL football ;) . Have a nice day :sunny: !

Angela,

How did your team do? Hope you guys had a safe trip to Houston and back.

Hope you have a healthy and happy Sunday!

hey angela, i have zero tolerance for burger king too! maybe it has something to do with the fact that you've been eating so healthy, that your body just can't handle that type of stuff anymore. and let me add, this is a good thing ::yes:: . sure, it made you feel bad, but at least you know now. and you'll know not to go for it in the future. funny how quickly our bodies adapt to this healthy eating thing. our bodies really appreciate it when we treat them well, and you're doing just that!

hope you have a great rest of the trip :sunny:

Hi Angela! Hope the rest of your trip was good. Did you relax and enjoy yourself? I certainly hope so - you desrve it!:smooth:

When it comes to fast food, I really enjoy the salads at McDs and BK. They are much better for me and they don't upset my tummy! Then I try to steal 4 or 5 fries from the kids just to get my "fix"!:teeth: But at least you won't be having any urges for chicken tenders anytime soon!!

Hope you were able to keep up with your walking and water while away. You have been doing so great with those things! Truly an inspiration to all of us!

Have a great day Angela!!:sunny:

Hi Angela!
Hope you have a great trip! Your visit with your sister sounds like a lot of fun! We went to the mall yesterday and my 3 year old was drawn to the Build a Bear workshop. Unfortunately, it was very crowded and she didn't get a chance to see what was going on. We're trying to hold off on letting her build a bear until her birthday in November, but if her behavior improves over the next week, then we may cave in and take her sooner.:teeth:

You have been doing a great job with your exercise! Keep up the good work! I'm still in awe of your 9 pound weight loss! That is amazing!!! ::yes::

Hope you have a great week in Houston! Take care!

Tracy

Good morning everyone!

Sorry that I'm not making it online every day. I get so caught up with family stuff that the day just slips by before I know it.

Val---Yes, I'm talking NCAA basketball. I'm not a huge fan, particularly, but I do follow my alma mater religiously.

Desiree--My team did win the Big XII Championship. :bounce: Now it's on to the big dance sporting a #2 seed. Not too shabby for a team that was predicted to finish 5th or 6th in the league. :)

Marsh--I think you're right that my body's just made a quick adjustment to healthier food. It is amazing how quickly things can turn around for the better.

Sharon--I love the McD's salads, too. I'll have to try BK next time around. I just didn't want to mess with one since I was trying to keep track of DD and feed DS at the same time. I am keeping up with the water, but I haven't exercised per say since Thursday. I decided to give my body a few days off, but I'm itching to get back to it so we're heading out to the mall this morning to walk, walk, walk!! ::yes:: Thanks for saying that I'm an inspiration. I don't feel like one, but it is thoughts like this that will keep me on track. I appreciate it!

Toystoryduo--Beware the call of Build-A-Bear. It can cost you an arm and a leg if you're not careful. It is lots of fun, though. :p

Okay...now that I feel up to speed, here's the big news of the day. I weighed this morning and am down another 6.5 pounds. :jumping1: I'm sure that the losses will slow way down now that I'm through the first couple of weeks, but it sure is nice to see that big number on the scale shrinking so quickly. :)

I'm not going to post my meals for the past few days since I'm not really counting points. My dad is on a low carb, pre-diabetic type diet, so I've just been eating what he eats. However, I keep the point total in my head. Guess I'm paranoid that I'm going to go nuts or something.

Anyway, I'm off to change my clippie and head out for some exercise. I'll get to as many journals as I can. I really miss talking with you all. Hope you all have a wonderful Monday! :sunny:

~Angela :wave2:

Edit: OMG! When I went to change my clippie, I did the math and realized that I've lost 15.5 pounds! I can't believe it! :teeth:

WOW! CONGRATS on your loss!!! 15.5 total is GREAT!!!!!
