I am confused
Unlike iOS, the operating system that runs your iPad and iPhone, there are a lot of different variations of Android out there. Since there are many different manufacturers making Android-based phones and tablets and TV streaming devices, they modify it a little to suit their needs. So, not all phones and tablets and TV boxes that run on Android work exactly the same way, and apps don't necessarily work the same way (or at all) on all Android devices.
That's what Amazon has done with their tablets. They're based on the Android operating system, but they've changed Android a bit to do the things they want to.
You know how an app that runs on your iPhone will almost always work on your iPad? It's not necessarily that way with Android. If you have, say, a Samsung phone and an Amazon tablet, you can't be sure they'll run the same apps.
