Today was our day in Cozumel. This is the only stop that I previously been to. The excursion for the day was a dolphin encounter. I swan with dolphins on one cruise when I was little, but have been wanting to do it again, so I was really excited!
After we got off the boat at the port, we were waiting for everyone to gather and we saw the mom with the two kids that sit next to us at dinner. Turns out they were doing the same excursion so we chatted with them for a little bit.
I was expecting the dolphing to be in the ocean, maybe with a gate or something and I was a little nervous because I hate the ocean. But this place had what were like 5 or 6 big pool areas that was near the ocean, but no connection to it so I was relieved.
They broke us into smaller groups of about 15 and there were about 2different groups in sections of each pool. The water was freezing! But it was so much fun! The dolphins came up and gave you a kiss on the cheek, you shook hands with the dolphins, they pulled you with their fins, and then they swam by a bunch so you could pet them. It was so neat!
Kory didn't want to buy his picture..oh well! Anyways, right at the end, it started POURING! Freezing rain! Our pool was right next to the tiny restaurant where we were to eat as part of the excursion so our group that we could go right back up there, but no! They made us go all the way around the whole arena thing. It was kinda funny. Since it was pouring and lightning, everyone was trying to eat at the same time and there were no open tables. The mom and the two kids had a table so they called us over to eat with them. We had a great time talking and they're such a neat family! Super smart kids and the mom was one of those truly southern ladies. They were Auburn fans and so while we decided that we could be friends since we were both SEC fans, we did like to tease each other, especially the kiddos. After we ate, it was time to head back to the port.
When we got back to the port, I saw there was a Fat Tuesdays. There was a Fat Tuesdays in my college towns and one of my best friends and I went there almost every Tuesday night. Now when we travel together, we always try to hunt one down, if there is one in the city, and when I saw this one, I made sure we stopped. We each got a yummy frozen drink (I got the banana flavor) in a half yard and enjoyed the great music! (I love "booty music" and Fat Tuesdays always plays this kind!
So after taking a nap and showering, we got ready for dinner. At dinner we talked to the mom and kids some more and they were determined to get front row seats to the show and said that we had to meet them there. So we did and this became a nightly habit as well.
We soon learned that we were sailing through a tropical depression. And boy could I feel it! This was my 13th cruise and I had NEVER gotten seasick. But I was not feeling good that night. I finally had Kory go get me some medicine from the store, and I didn't think it would really work but it did!
And of course, our towel animal for the night
