And................Wildnerness Lodge, how is transportation?

It's good. There is a fun boat that takes you back and forth between resort and MK, other than that its buses. At WL you are close to the campground where there is a show and horsebackriding and trails. The Poly has better transportation, though, because you are on monorail and right next to TTC. If transportation is the biggest issue, Poly has about the best transportation systems on site, and is on seven seas lagoon, which is great.

We stayed at WL this year and at Poly last year (with similar age kids) and Poly is definitely better re: transportation. Don't get me wrong, we LOVE WL , but when it's late, after Wishes, at then end of a long day, when the kids (and the adults!) are tired you just can't beat hopping on that monorail! And if you get a longhouse at the Poly that is closer to the TTC walkway, it really makes the back and forth to EPCOT very easy!!

We were there during the week of 05/15/2004 through 05/22/04. After wishes, and it was not Friday night, but I can not remember which night, it took us almost 1 hour to just get on the boat back to the WL. This was not a good thing with small children. Alot of unhappy people.

It was wonderful during our Sept trip! Generally, waited 5, maybe 10 minutes.

Question-After the fireworks can you take the monorail to the TTC and then take the bus to WL? just wondering if that bus runs late.

Thanks

TERRIBLE! For the prioxmity to MK I found the transporation to be pretty poor. I hated the bus service. You had to go to the camp ground prior to getting anywhere and found the boat to be slow and again...to the camp ground first! I really didn't like the transporation at WL. That is my biggest complaint in regards to WL. I actually found the bus service at POR and AKL to be much better thant he transporation at WL!

I have to agree with MEP319. I hated having to go out to the Fort Wilderness area. That took a long time. I like the WL itself, but it is farther down on my list of places I'd go back to simply because of transportation.

AKL while further out than other resorts (it's really only just a little beyond EPCOT resorts), I thought transportation was great. It was wonderful not to stop at other resorts and there was almost always seats for all on the but.

At the EPCOT resorts, with having the bus stop and resort, after resort and packing people in like sardines, I'd choose AKL transportation any day.

Have yet to try the monorail resorts yet however. Poly is probably the best for that reason

I've always liked WL transportation. At the Lodge, never had a long wait for a bus or even the boat to MK. I really love the boat ride to/from MK -- so relaxing. The ride to FW is not that long and it hardly adds that much time to your trip.

My only complaint is Epcot to WL -- sometimes it seems like forever before the bus comes, if you leave before Epcot closes. Otherwise, the transportation at WL is GREAT!!!

The boat from the WL to MK goes from MK to FW to WL to MK until 3:00 pm. After 3:00 pm the boat goes from MK to WL to FW to MK. The boat ride from WL to MK takes 10 minutes or less and they run every 20 minutes or so. The boat may be full or nearly full of FW people by the time it gets to the WL. We stay at WL during the off season and have found the transportation to be fine.

FW and WL are the only WDW resorts that have buses to TTC.

Gary M, thanks for mentioning the change in the route at 3 PM. I was wondering how we managed to use the buses between WL and MK without having gone to FW.

We found the bus transportation fine at WL, though we enjoyed using the boat to the MK more. The smaller launch to the CR was rarely crowded, and was usually arriving just as we stepped onto the dock. We like walking around WDW (good thing, huh?), so we often took this launch between CR and WL and walked back/forth to the MK.

We used our car to get to Epcot several times, which saved time waiting for the bus but lost time looking for a parking space. We also took the WL/TTC bus several times to catch the monorail to Epcot, because I like how it streams through Future World before coming to a stop!

I'd just allow a bit more time when using the WL buses to reach my destination on time.

I definitely recommend taking the bus to the TTC when going to Epcot instead of using WL's direct bus. It's a much faster ride and the monorail ride can't be beat.
