Will all DVC Resorts get Flatscreen TV's eventually at some point? I see now (The Deluxe Resorts) WL, BC, AND BW have been done and of course The BLT & AKV will have them.. DVC Resorts (OKW, VWL, BC, BW, SSR, HHI, & VB) are they next Anyone have the 411! Thanks Ahead

You might want to do a search on this site regarding flat screens. It's been discussed here a lot and no one is aware of any plan to update existing DVC resorts with flat screens. Upgrades like this come out of our dues so many people are not happy to pay for flat screens since they don't go to WDW to watch TV. I think you can see that it can be a touchy subject, along with just about anything that could increase our dues.

The bigger problems are furniture and viewing material.
They do not seem to want to wall mount them, but instead have a furniture piece designed for the flat panels.
Then, once you have the flat panels you'd like to have them supply an HD feed, or at least all digital (AKV seems to have locals in HD, but the others are in digital cable format) Would you want to see analog static on your flat panels? The old tube TV's are designed to work around issues in bad signals. New flat screens are designed to display the exact signal it gets, static, ghosts and all...

What you probably mean are 'flat panel' TV's. All the current TV's at the DVC resorts are already 'flat screen' TVs, but they are 'flat screen picture tube' (CRT) TV's. Flat screen can be picture tubes, projection, LCD, Plasma.

In any case, it will be the upgrade to the digital 16:9 format screens that will eventually come to every villa. Our maintenance fees have reserves for updating things like appliances and TV's, but I don't know what timeframe is scheduled for those replacements. Not sure where DVC and WDW get their TV feeds from but most likely are converting to analog anyway, and will continue to do so after Feb 17th. I doubt the current TV's have the digital (ASTC) tuners in them.

Like most DVCers, we don't watch a lot of TV while there so really don't care if it takes a year or two before they change.

We were just at the BWV last week and they did not have flat panel TV's in the one bedrooms and studios. At least not the ones we were in, lol.

oh gee!!!

that ends they are going with the originally program - when the thing (TV) breaks they will update it.

before generally not before. It is not needed - unless Disney changes their cable to demand the new TV's.

With all of the flat panel upgrades going into the cash rooms (CR, Poly, BC, BWI, WL, etc.), my big fear is that Disney has a warehouse somewhere with 2000 analog sets that will be used as maintenance replacements in DVC rooms for the next 20 years.
