And This is Why You Leave Early for Your Cruise

Did not see the rant but I do think she probably made the cruise. She was flying out at 9pm so it had to be the night before or more. Flight left for Miami at almost 9am on the day of the cruise, therefore she would have made the it to port by 4 for sure.

You are right! She would land in MIA at 1pm at the latest. And then what is it? 20 minutes to port?
All that screaming about money. Did she not insure the trip? So silly.

I don't get why she was saying she would miss the boat. It was an over night flight. I understand she was exhausted and not getting information but her trip hadn't been missed just yet. There is no way a 9pm flight would be for anything but a cruise the next day unless she had already screwed her own vacation.

the flight was delayed a total of 12 hours.... which is why she was so pissed and how it ended up being an overnight fiasco. I have no sympathy for people like her though, who think sceaming at and berating those who are trying to help you will get you better service.

ABC News tonight reported that DCL confirmed all passengers had checked in for that cruise so I assume she and her family made it.

I would not have yelled like that but most companies treat customers so poorly. American Airlines is an awful company.

I'm finding that out. Did you know that an aisle seat is a "preferred" seat"? It costs extra if you want to sit there. Same with window seats. And, their special meals don't include low salt meals. Sadly, I've still got to use them.

We flew American Airlines once to wdw (ironically!). Every single person we interacted with was rude and unpleasant. Employees were very, very unhappy. We had connections and the planes were all late. It really stood out as the worst airline we have ever flown. I don't know if we just had a bad experience, but I would never try them again. But we never complain about stuff unless someone hands us a comment card. Hopefully you have more luck!

Well, I intend to let my feelings be known, once this trip is over. American is a partner to Delta, and DCL uses Delta for their flights. And I hate Delta. I was hoping that American would be better, until I found out they are partnered. :headache:

Thankfully, ours is a direct flight (albeit - 11+ hours) so I'm going to really try to remain calm and pleasant during it. Maybe drugs will help.

I live in a city with an AA hub, so nearly every trip I take is with them.I wouldn't say that every flight I've had with AA was stellar, but I've never thought it was that bad. I've had a couple of flights where the FA has compt my drinks. Maybe because I wasn't giving them any grief. Worse experience I've every had was Delta. The FAs sat in the galley and trash talked my home town for an hour.

My preferred US based carrier is Delta. I despise Southwest. Ironically, after 10+ years of not using SW, I am stuck on a flight to the Indy 500 in May with them. Oh well, I'm going to the 100th running of the Indy 500, so its not all bad!

My most recent flight on AA was great. It wax just a short one from Orange County (CA) to PHX. The plane had a mechanical problem after we all boarded, after trying to fix the plane we had to exit it, go to another gate, edit for the new plane to get ready and reboots. The gate agents were fantastic, which really isn't uncommon at John Wayne, (best airport ever). Once we got on, the pilot flew like a bat out of hell, 45 minutes from take off to landing. As soon as they could, the flight attendants started beverage service and were giving out free alcohol to those who wanted it.

All in all, I thought every AA crew member I came into contact with was great.

I hate AA as well. I refuse to fly them anymore. I'll only fly Southwest or Delta or JetBlue. I've yet to find a destination I need to go that one of those three won't take me :)

I have never understood why some people think they are entitled to be comped for anything due to bad weather. Delays due to bad weather are an inherent risk you take when traveling. And as already mentioned, there are ways to protect yourself from loss due to such delays.

Airlines typically blame the weather for delays, even if the delays were really due to other reasons, such as carrier mechanical issues or scheduling flights too close together. They're not liable for the weather, so they usually blame the weather, even if that's not the real reason.
