We definitely don't buy something for all of the kids!!! That would be crazy!!! But we always get a gift card for the teacher.

Speaking of school...I am so incredibly saddened by the news out of CT from that elementary school shooting. It really makes my heart sad that this is the type of world we live in. :sad2:

Thanks, Candace. :goodvibes Didn't think so just wasn't sure... Miss M brought home a little gift one of the girls in her class gave her yesterday so it threw me for a loop. :confused3

...

It's so very sad and horrific, this story. Makes me want to go and grab Miss M from school and bring her home and hug her for the rest of the day. :( Can't even begin to imagine what those parents are going through. Tragic.

Okay, here to tell all of you HELLO! and pass out some of these: :grouphug:

Since we're talking retail therapy:
Bath & Body Works have their 3-Wick Candles on sale for $8 (normally $20), in stores only. My hubs told me, when I mentioned the sale this morning, "Yeah, that's exactly what we need: more candles!" I chose to ignore the obvious sarcasm and take him at his word. :joker: I came out with three and two holders. Don't want to disappoint him or anything.

I'm putting in my vote for Christine's message saying: "Thinkin of you all." :goodvibes

I_Heart: Whoa! How scary. So glad it all worked out... yuck about the tires though. So expensive. I'm dreading the day we need ones for my SUV. :scared: Candace knows all about that! :crazy2:

You always need more candles! :dance3:

Also adding a question... because I'm clueless on such things and you guys are the All-Knowing™!:

Our class parent is organizing a joint teacher gift (we gave her money and she's purchasing a gift certificate on behalf of the children). Should I get her something beyond this? Do kids normally give out things to their classmates?

No on the classmates. I do get a gift in addition to the group gift, but I don't think it's necessary.

Hi RCers,
Stopping to to say hi to all the friends!
Here's another shopping tip-Kipling has lots of things on sale at their website. You can also use a retailmenot code...RMNOT25 gives you 25.00 off 150.00 plus free shipping. :cool1:

I am finally a bit caught up. I made a big pot of chili yesterday, and got meatballs done today. I divided, then packaged them up and popped them in the freezer. Having some things done ahead is a big help to me.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend. :goodvibes

Will have to check that out. Never heard of that store. :)

Good plan to stock the freezer. My stash is embarrassingly low at the moment.

So sad. :( My kids are all home sick today and I just had a huge talk with them about this. It's terrifying.

Thanks, Candace. :goodvibes Didn't think so just wasn't sure... Miss M brought home a little gift one of the girls in her class gave her yesterday so it threw me for a loop. :confused3

I don't blame you for wanting to get Miss M. I would have felt the same way if mine weren't already here.

 I was being serious. I thought you were putting the extra symbols and letters in your posts on purpose and I couldn't make sense of what they were saying. Once Grumpy Grandma posted about it I realized you probably weren't doing it on purpose so I was making fun of my mistake. :upsidedow

Now I'm guessing it's maybe an Ipad issue? Don't mind me. Sorry! :flower3:

No. Water got spilled on the keyboard so typing is impossible. She has ordered a new Ipad but I don't think she has it yet. Whatever is wrong with the computer she can still get on the Dis but ..... well you see what happens when she responds!!!

Oh I can't believe it...I just saw the news and I am crying right now. I can't believe it, those poor little children and parents.

That makes sense, I was wondering.
It's somewhat figure-out-able...maybe she's started a new language-Minnie Latin. :)
It's always good to hear from her.

Oh I can't believe it...I just saw the news and I am crying right now. I can't believe it, those poor little children and parents.

This loss is more than the mind can comprehend. Prayers are with the families, first responders, so much trauma.

Wookie: Is there such a thing as a 'normal' child? Your son sounds very special and unique.:goodvibes And I like his comment about the terrorists!! Very provocative!;)
I hope he soon understands that there is NO normal. And that is good :goodvibes

I keep telling him that there is no thing as "normal". Finding a "normal child" would be like finding a leprechaun riding a unicorn. I should tell y'all about his Santa comments that still have me laughing my rear off every time I think about them. Maybe I'll post them on the FB page b/c they might get me some points here.

My test went OK, I hope..I won't find out for 2 weeks...then DH went on a rant last night how I never spend time with him and I always sleep....blah blah blah..(sorry it really is getting old, it's not like I sit around and do nothing)
[/SIZE]

Hopefully the 2 weeks will fly by. I hate waiting for test results!!

Ok so just off phone changed reservation to split stay and it's not POR/AKL

Going with 3nights POR then 5 nights BC
And I swear I'm not gonna change again!! :cool1:

:lmao: That's what I keep telling myself

Also adding a question... because I'm clueless on such things and you guys are the All-Knowing™!:

Our class parent is organizing a joint teacher gift (we gave her money and she's purchasing a gift certificate on behalf of the children). Should I get her something beyond this? Do kids normally give out things to their classmates?

What I did the years that we did a joint teacher gift, I would give the teacher the gift I was planning on getting them at the end of the year. I would usually get them a gift certificate. This way they could use it to buy things to set up their classroom next year.

We definitely don't buy something for all of the kids!!! That would be crazy!!! But we always get a gift card for the teacher.

Speaking of school...I am so incredibly saddened by the news out of CT from that elementary school shooting. It really makes my heart sad that this is the type of world we live in. :sad2:

I read about that on FB this afternoon, and it just breaks my heart. I can not even begin to imagine the pain they are going through.

Hi ladies. Today I realize once again no matter how stressful and complicated my life is, it could be so much worse. My heart and prayers go out to the CT families :grouphug:

So here is my quick (but long) update.

- DH’s job is still on the never ending roller coaster, but he is making contacts to do consulting on the side for now and can probably build that pretty big. Thankfully his accounting degree and multiple licenses in the financial industry make him pretty valuable.

- My sweet lovable DS9 gave his teacher the middle finger after a huge tantrum in school where he was even trashing his desk around

- DS9’s biopsies now show eosinophilic gastritis, a very rare condition, so we are going for patch allergy testing next week, 2 more days he will miss of school :sad2: Well I am going to take him for a couple hours before the appts so he can at least get that day’s work. Three endoscopies in a year and a half and each time it shows something new. What’s crazy is we started all this because he said his stomach kept hurting but had no other symptoms and luckily our pediatrician knew he wasn’t the type to make anything up and took it very seriously.

- My mom’s oncologist isn’t happy with her latest round of labs, my dad’s cardiologist isn’t happy with his EKG and put him on a heart monitor for 24 hours, but they wont give me more info than that, so I'll just sit and speculate :confused3

- I had to put a call into my surgeon’s ofc today because I seem to be regressing, nurse said it is probably normal since it is a very long healing period but watch over the weekend and if I get worse she’ll get me in first thing on Monday.

i_heart, see you aren’t the only one to complain and vent  But even with all of this, it is nothing to compared to those that lost children and loved ones today.

Christine – I hope your iPad arrives soon, but it is fun trying to decipher your posts right now :lmao:

Miss – I usually give a gift card on top of donating to the class gift, but not everyone does. Have you been taking advantage of the $10GC deal at Target lately? I know you can easily spend $50 in the dollar section :rolleyes1

Jen – oh I am so jealous! Have a great day with DH tomorrow, lunch and shopping, perfect :goodvibes

i_heart - how scary about the blow out! Glad you got everyone moved safe and sound! That happened to us once, thankfully just as we had pulled off I95. DS19 blew out 3 tires last year and I wanted to kill him, but that was only after I knew he was okay;) I know you want to refill the emergency fund, but I think you should keep your resies the way they are.

Debrn - sounds like a great split, hope it stays :thumbsup2

Jeanette – sorry your DH is feeling neglected lately. Sometimes men just don’t get it :sad2: I know you have to work, but I hope you have a good weekend :flower3:

Janet – I hope you enjoyed your 29th bday :p Does that mean maybe next year we could celebrate the big 3-0???? Then we can celebrate that one for a few years too :rotfl2:

Wookie – OMG, I love your DS’ career goals!!!!!!! It always amazes me what goes through thier little brains :goodvibes

Marie – DOUBLE YAY :cheer2: So glad you are finally getting a partner again! And congrats for taking the plunge and applying for the job. Like you said, you would have probably always wondered.

Hello Ginny, Linda, Candace, Dani, Kook, and everyone else I am missing. :wave2:

Oh my Melissa. You sure have a lot on your plate. I am keeping you in my thoughts. Your poor DS  You take care of yourself too. No relapses allowed for the mama! I'm sorry for all the uncertainty with regards to DH's job. And health issues with mom and dad on top off all of it? Wow! You are so right when you said you are on your own rollercoaster.::yes::

The New Year is almost upon us. I'm hoping that 2013 brings resolution to all of your worries. :goodvibes

Oh on a totally fun Disney note, my dear friend from high school emailed me saying they are taking their first trip to WDW in April and have booked WLV but would love help and advice on the rest of the plans. Woohoo! I get to share my crazy Disney knowledge with someone, LOL!

KOOK - I'll be sending my friend your way :)

Oh she is asking about good date night restaurants....which are everyone's favorites?????

I'm so sorry things are so stressful right now. My mom has always told me that God never gives you more than you could handle. Sometimes I think he must think I have the strength of all the Avengers times infinity. One of my favorite sayings that helps me is "This too shall pass". If that doesn't work there is always, "Candy is dandy, but liqueur is quicker."

Wookie – OMG, I love your DS’ career goals!!!!!!! It always amazes me what goes through thier little brains :goodvibes

Melissa

When John Michael would say what we call John-isms, my DH would ask me where he got it from. I told him that I used to try and figure it out, but it hurts my brain a lot less to not even try.

I would love to hear those comments :thumbsup2

I'll go put them up on the FB page. I got side tracked with the laundry. I think the laundry fairy got lost on the way to my house b/c she's really slacking.

I LOVE getting to help people with Disney trips!!!

We have never had a date night at WDW. It really depends on the budget and what they like to eat. We loved Le Cellier on our last trip. If it's in the budget, V&A's would be on the top of my list. Especially if I could swing the Chef's Table.

Okay...ahhhh...sorry, love you all! :flower3:

Agreed. I've had my breath taken away so many times since yesterday. Listening to the stories, seeing those little faces. Knowing I have a baby in kindergarten and I have known all of her little classmates since they were babies. And my gentle, kind 3rd grader, who is excited to go to school everyday....those babies in CT were probably like my babies....

Those parents probably have presents wrapped that will never be opened....dances classes that won't be attended....they could have been planning a trip to Disney...I just.dont.understand. It hurts my heart soooo badly...

I keep trying to make sense of it, but there is no sense to be made about something as ridiculous as this.

What is very sad is the shooter is said to have personality disorder, this is usually not successful with treatment because they have antisocial qualities. These people don''t have the capibility to think rationally, even worse have NO remorse... Many are criminals and wind up in jail. I am not giving him excuses, but our mental health system is so underfunded and so many long term facilities are no more..there's more people like him in mainstream society..I see them a LOT in and out of the ER :sad1: It is so very very scary. I just wish I could place my kids in a bubble and protect them forever
Off to check that out now. I love me some online shopping. :surfweb: I just remembered that DH has to gift his staff as well. I always forget to budget for that expense. He has 6 new reports this year for a total of 14. :crazy2: I think GC's are the way to go for them though. Unless you have any other good ideas. They are all male Industrial Engineers so no Very Bradley for them :rotfl2:
