I don't know about next year. I didn't plan to go this year, but the Fockers convinced me... We really only get the one trip a year that doesn't involve seeing family, and we'd like to take the boys a few other places, too.

Your "packing light" issues are making me nervous.

As I've given up my next WDW trip for a three-week, most-expenses paid trip to Southeast Asia, I'm a little concerned already about how to pack, and I've only got seven months to get it done!

Final Thoughts:

I really had no intention of going to WDW in 2008. When I finished my TR last year, I was sad because I wanted to keep talking to my friends every day. Someone clued me in that they have a “just to chat” thread on the Community Board, and friendships were quick to form. And addictions, too...

Then a bunch of my friends went to WDW last August and met up. And then they started talking about going again. And I just couldn’t miss it.

People (especially D! ) thought we were nuts for a variety of reasons:
1. We were going to Florida in August. Hot and crowded was the first thought.
2. We were going to meet people from the internet.
3. Oh, and by the way, it’s hurricane season.


But I have to tell you, it was one of the best decisions we ever made. It probably would have been hot, had Fay not joined us. But even on the two hot days at the end, we were fine. The friends were FANTASTIC and I truly hope to see them all again very soon – and with some more who couldn’t be there, if at all possible. I love you guys.

The tropical storm – I may be in the minority here, but I loved it. She kept the crowds and the heat away – the only thing that I SO regret that came from the weather was missing the water park – and even there, it was just that I wanted more friend time, not so much that I was desperate for the water park itself.

D is becoming more and more into the Disney thing, which is great. He loved meeting the friends, too - he's a social guy, and I think also glad to hear that I am not the only person on the computer all day every day...

I don’t think we’ll go now in 2009 (famous last words) because so much of our vacations do involve trips to see our far away families, and we would like to take the boys a few other places, too. Maybe I can work out a girls’ weekend for F & W fest, though.

I love going to WDW because sometimes I forget in the day to day stuff how much fun my kids are, and how much we actually like doing things together. Not that we were without conflict, but it’s so nice to not feel like you’re nagging constantly. And my kids are still at an age where the magic is a given.

Thanks to my friends who helped make my trip so special. Thanks to everyone reading this report, as you helped me remember it and enjoy it once again.
