3rd week of school and we start the first funraiser at school. Anyone want to buy a candy bar?

I had a football player selling stuff at out door and school hasn't even started here yet!

Karen

I'll buy a candy bar if you'll buy my sons entertainment book that gets smaller and smaller each year and not so good deals in it...

We are still in the first week of school and my 4th grader brought home the $20 entertainment book for central florida to sell.

I feel your "pain". It's hard to ask neighbors, especially when we have so many selling, to buy one.

Depends on how cute your DS/DD are, Lu...something tells me I'd better make room in the pantry.;)

(JK...I'm an equal opportunity candy bar consumer.:))

I am SO excited for a fund raiser -- which is a NEW experience for me  -- our first fund raiser is YANKEE CANDLES! :teeth: Finally something I actually USE and will purchase.

And oh yeah, we have the wrapping paper too...

I'll buy a candy bar for $1 if you'll pay the $3 to ship it to me. :teeth:

Im a sucker for this junk, everybody send there kids over

I'm still smarting over the cost of the field trip that we have to pay for soon. Not to mention paying for DS' planner and some kind of instrument for music. I think that a fundraiser is supposed to start soon too but...no way!

With 6 grandchildren I had to get a second job just to pay for the stupid candy, cards, plants, Crafts and Christmas stuff they want them to sell.

And who ends up selling the stuff? Yup thats us the true the proud the old.

I'll buy one if you'll buy a magazine from Richard. :teeth: The magazine drive started today.

Have a Tupperware fund raiser. At least that way you get useful items. :)
Any body seen my Sponge Bob Cup? Someone has snatched it already!

Our school year doesn't start till the Wednesday after Labor Day. But we will have the wrapping paper, the Entertainment Books, and don't forget the 2 book fairs and Christmas and Mothers Day Plant Sales. Oh yeah and the Christmas and Fathers Day sale where they get to buy all the chatchki (sp) stuff.

Maybe we'll get lucky this year and have a Yankee Candle sale.

My son hasn't even started school yet (starts on Tuesday the 26th) & my husband has been talking about which route he & DS will take when they go out peddling Cookie Dough! My DS's school only has the ONE fund raiser & they sell large tubs of refridgerated cookie dough. (It's really yummy though ~ all the flavors!) Before my DS went to school there, I used to buy from his buddy down the street but now I buy from my DS! :p

Candy bars are easier to peddle though! Imagine, we had to make sure our van was empty to be able to pick up & deliver 103 tubs of cookie dough last year! This year my DS wants to beat last year's order! We should look into renting a U-haul or something!

Ours started last week. I'm very glad I've been busy working at my FT job (overtime) and my part-time job that I am very rarely home to answer the door. I order from EVERY SINGLE kid who knocks at the door (and after 3 years every kid in the neighborhood knows this;) ) Over the summer DH and talked about it and realized we were spending an ungodly amount of money on fundraiser type stuff (which I usually just bring into work if it's food). We decided we were not going to order any more (except Girl Scout Cookies and Boy Scout popcorn). But I have a really hard time saying no.......he on the other hand doesn't.

Hopefully by the time our DGS is old enough to go to school they will have found a way to raise funds without turning all the kids into salespeople.

Our school nixed the fundraisers last year, the parents all agreed to make a donation instead.

Worked for me! I hope they continue this new tradition this coming school year.

The kids can't sell things in our housing.... How will I get my wrapping paper?

Please save some of your money for when we sell band fruit in November.
