We did it! After much research and lots of stalking this forum, we decided to buy. Our contract has been signed and escrow has been sent. Now we just have to wish for some pixie dust that we pass ROFR. I am so glad we checked into resale! We were able to purchase twice the amount of points for what we would have spent buying direct. Hopefully on our next trip to Disney we can hear "Welcome Home!"

We love our SSR contracts. It’s a great resort to stay at, and we’ve had fun switching at seven months to other resorts when we travel during DVC off seasons. I hope your ROFR process goes smoothly.

Awesome! I’m excited to do both as well! Our contract if it goes through is for 200, and then we will purchase 25 through Disney with hopefully the same use year of June- with 225 points, plus an extra 24 that we’d be able to purchase if needed- we’re hoping to get two weeks a year! If we wanted to book a studio for a week at the 7 month mark elsewhere, outside of the value season, do you think we’d be able to? AK, either Wilderness property, Poly, BW, BC, GF, etc.

Yup, the only thing that would be especially tough is a full week during food and wine in the fall. We actually bought SSR site unseen and luckily fell in love with it, but we also love BWV and have had no problems staying there. We have a week at BWV in a two bedroom in a week, and we had our pick of all properties at WDW for our August trip. We chose CCV and BWV. Don’t be afraid of split stays and waitlists. We stayed at BCV during Clumbus Day weekend by piecing together single nights via the waitlist. It was kind of a PITA, but other than fall food and wine madness switching at seven months has been very doable.

AKV is a large resort, so rooms are usually available most times of the year at 7 months. It would be difficult to get the value rooms there at 7 months. Savana views are the last to fill up. I recommend getting a Savana view at least once. It is awesome. Beach club and VGF are smaller so rooms are harder to get at 7 months, but not impossible, it depends what time of year you go. BWV is larger and has more rooms than BCV and VGF combined. SSR is by far the largest DVC resort they have. Good luck we bought a 150 point contact at SSR then added 25 direct. My better half wants more points, maybe later in the year if all goes well. Welcome home neighbor.

Savana views are the last to fill up. I recommend getting a Savana view at least once. It is awesome

+100 While I expected it would be awesome, it was even more amazing than I thought. I spent time every day at AK on the porch watching the animals. It really makes the experience.

Congrats! Good luck with ROFR. Hopefully it passes quickly.
As far as getting a 7 month reservation it really depends on the time of year and the resort.
Food and Wine and anything at EPCOT is very difficult at 7 months, but can happen.
Anything around Christmas is difficult.
In slower times of the year, or picking a larger resort, can be easier. It also depends on if you are looking for a studio, 1 BR or 2BR. So far, the 1BR don't seem to fill as wuickly.
