Just back from 1st visit using MB and using FP+, I actually think it will be better. What did not go away was, as I overheard in FP line for TSM, "I know we are not on the scheduled time but they won't tell us no, they can't tell a child no." She then proceeded to play dumb as Mickey turned blue "what does blue mean? I don't understand." She then proceeded to browbeat the CM that said they should move to the end of the FP line to keep the scheduled time until she had to allow them in to "avoid the confrontation", all this while holding the other guests up. Honestly I hope they adopt the policy of if it isn't green you don't go. Harsh I know but as I saw on several occasions, holding up everyone else while you plead your case isn't fair either.

Except when the bands really aren't working correctly and you really are scheduled during that time. :sad2: some people really do have a case to plead. And others are just rats ruining it for others.

We had one issue where we showed up a bit early for a FP...maybe ten minutes. It wasn't deliberate, the FP was for some weird number like 11:35 and we got there a little early thinking it was at 11:30. Anyway, the CMs were nice and let us through. Anyway, I won't do that again.

Last month, we saw several folks get the blue light at the FP+ entrances. I never saw a CM turn anyone away for it.

Edit: Don't want to sound like I'm saying they never turn people away. It was just an observation of mine that I found interesting. I was surprised by how many they let through with really no argument at all. Seemed like they just wanted to keep the line moving.

See, we did this at TT and the CM told us we were too early and to get back when it was 5 mins to our time (I think we showed up about 10 mins too early). So we literally stood there next to the entrance for 5 minutes until we could try it again. No waving us through. All experiences are different since these kinds of scenarios seem to be up to the CM.

At TSM, some lady who was clueless about MBs and FP+ tried to scan her band to go through. The CM said "it shows here you don't have a FP+ booked for this" and she was like "oh no I don't..." - apparently she saw people scanning bands there and thought she could too. Held up the line. But I was glad she wasn't waved through.

Yeah, I think this CM was just being nice. I didn't meant to do it and I would have been totally ok with waiting.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing to allow people through, it's part of the attraction of Disney. There are glitches and that is understandable and fixable. For the system to work there has to be a limit, we were told by a CM that there is a 5 minute grace period in the program already. To flat out say I know I'm wrong but you will give me what I want because the people in line behind me are less important. For the record I was in front of her.

One of the few rides we ever used fast pass for was Soarin'. We'd get a PAPER fast pass, get in the standby line (first place we went was Land) and ride and then kill time having a coffee and danish before riding again. That worked out nicely.
We'd watch the time and head over when it was about 2-3 minutes before our return window. We sometimes had to wait. Others were told that they were too early and that they could wait. We never really saw people waved in who were more than a minute early. Fair for all.

This poor lady in front of us when we went up to ride PP (we had FP-) put her magic band up and it turned blue and the CM asked her what time her FP was for and she said "What fastpass?" And you could tell her English was broken. But she was so confused and the CM kept telling her that he couldn't let her on. And it took a while but she finally walked away. It's the first timers I can see getting confused the most and asking questions that are gonna hold up lines.

This is such a sad tale.
At least before (with FP-) you either HAD a FP ticket, or you didn't.
(Being able to READ it, is another thing.)

But NOW, "everybody" has a wristband,
and can't tell if they can enter a FP
line or not until they do the scan.
And, the Mickey head will LIGHT UP, regardless.
But, it's the COLOR of the light that matters.
To some folks, that will be a problem.

This is the kind of DETAIL that I'm afraid Disney planners
did not consider well enough.

Good point.

Well we normally haven't issues but with the system all whacked out recently, we went to our buzz light year FP+ yesterday and it wasn't there. I pulled up the app and showed them that we did have one and the first CM waved us through instead of turning it green and the 2nd CM said he would have to take our big thunder FP when he hit allow. That was really stupid and I don't know what the issue was with just that ride but our big thunder FPs were still there after the ride so that was good.

I have seen many people who show up an hour or two early for their FP time. I don't really get that, did they just decide to randomly show up to rides? I take a pic of the reservations or write them down to keep it straight that seems easiest for me.

The one thing I kept thinking last week is that a little cheapy clock in the band (otherwise known as a watch lol) would have come in handy. If you're wearing something on your wrist all day, it might as well tell you the time.

The first time my kids put them on they wondered why it didn't have a watch in it. LOL

Yeah especially the blue color. If they wanted a color at all red should of been the way to go for non-entry. I mean every one knows green means go and red means stop. But blue? I can see a lot of people getting confused and/or angry.

Wouldn't it have been awesome if flashing red lights and an alarm went off when someone without a fast pass entered the fp line!

I think they chose blue because red is perceived as something negative and Disney doesn't like to be associated with negative things.

I wonder how that's working for them.
