Day 13​

Sunday 4th October 2015
Part 2 - Harry Potter fun​

After some Men In Black fun, it was 5pm, so we went back to Diagon Alley to get ice cream!

Apparently on event nights like today, guests with two-park tickets, and HHN guests can enter Diagon Alley between 5 and 6.
We thought we’d have to leave at 5 so this was fun.
We just had to leave via the Hogwarts Express by 6pm.

We went to Florean Fortescue’s for ice cream!

I got chocolate raspberry and Jamie got vanilla with chocolate chips.

Why does this dragon always try to melt my ice cream as soon as I step outside!

Yum and wow.

We took our ice cream to the steps up the side of Gringotts.
This is a nice place to sit away from everyone.

Once we’d finished we walked straight onto Gringotts.

There was literally NO ONE there, they were sending empty cars!
We got one all to ourselves!

We said goodbye to Diagon Alley and headed to the Hogwarts Express.

The line was very long, but soon we arrived in Hogsmeade.

We rode Dragon Challenge first.
They’re very strict on loose items at Dragon Challenge.
I think there was an accident here a while ago.

I never take a bag to Universal to avoid the lockers, so I normally have a few items in my pockets, and I had to store them before riding.
We put everything in the locker and went back through the line, but I realised I still had a lip balm in my pocket..
I thought meh, it should be fine, right?
WRONG!
There are metal detectors up the line and everything.
Back down to the lockers we go.
We had to open it and take everything out and move it to a different locker, BAH.

We finally made it through the detectors and got in line for the Chinese Firebolt!
I hear that one is faster.

The two guys behind us in line were dressed in Harry Potter robes and THE WORKS, they were superfans, and they absolutely LOVED that we were from England!
One of them said he would love to live there one day because he loves our accents and our food!
They told us they were from Alabama and I asked if they drove here.
One of them replied “Yes, did you?”

It was just an automatic reply, but we all cracked up.
No, Alabama friend, we did not drive here from England.

Anyway we rode the Chinese Firebolt and it shook me up a bit.
I did not feel great afterwards!

We got our stuff from the locker… And Jamie’s phone was missing!
We freaked out because we realised he’d probably left it in the first locker when we moved everything, and that locker was now in use…
Thankfully a kind stranger had handed it in to the member of staff there!
Ugh I love people.

Anyway, I was feeling a little queasy after Dragon Challenge.
So what do you when you’re feeling motion-sick?
Ride Forbidden Journey, of course.
Logic.

Luckily I felt fine after standing in line for a few minutes, and I rode Forbidden Journey with no issues

After the ride, we went to Honeydukes to buy our friend Rob some Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans.

Then we went back up to the Forbidden Journey store at the exit of the ride to buy him a Hippogriff!
He’s a huge Harry Potter fan.

Here’s what we bought him:

I was looking around the shop while Jamie paid, when a guy stumbled out of the ride exit into the shop, PROJECTILE VOMITTED ALL OVER THE FLOOR, THEN RAN OFF.
Ugh it was horrendous.
It smelled so bad.
Thank goodness I wasn’t still feeling ill, otherwise I might have joined in.
We got out of there quick!

It was now time to leave the park, but I got to walk through Jurassic Park on the way out YAY.
It was very quiet and eerie, it was almost like we were in the movie!

There was no one else around this area!
We were all alone.

OR WERE WE.

We headed out through City Walk, and walked to the taxi area.

It was now 8pm…
Were we heading back to the hotel for the night?
ERRRM.
It’s our second to last night,
OF COURSE NOT.

Day 13
Sunday 4th October 2015​

Part 3 – Hollywood Studios EMH​

We got an Uber from Universal Studios, straight to Hollywood Studios!!
It’s extra magic hours until 11pm!

We were really hungry so our first stop was ABC Commissary.
We both got the cheese and bacon burger.
We got one with fries, and one with broccoli, and shared.
I always hear “Disney fries are the best fries”, but really Disney broccoli is where it’s at.
It feels good to balance out all of the salty Disney food.

After our food we went to One Man’s Dream.

This was kind of the main reason we came to Hollywood Studios, because I heard this was closing, like, TOMORROW.
But thank goodness that seemed to be a HEINOUS rumour

I really like it because it’s one of the very few places you can go to appreciate Walt and Roy, and see all of the hard work that went into building the company.

I think it would be a real shame to get rid of One Man’s Dream.
If they do I hope they at least rehome the artefacts somewhere.

I love this place.
We watched the movie, and both really enjoyed it.
Jamie’s never been overly interested in Walt or the history of the Disney company, but he thought this movie was GREAT, which I was very proud of.

After One Man’s Dream we headed over to Tower of Terror, but Fantasmic had just let out and it was very busy, so we turned back and went to Star Tours.

I spotted my beloved Backlot Tour, which made me sad because it’s now closed forever.
I had just experienced it at Disneyland Paris though so IT’S FINE, I’M FINE.

I also noticed the Osbourne Lights!!!
This is as close as I ever got to seeing them

We got onto Star Tours and the rebel spy was sat RIGHT BEHIND ME.
I need my “I am the rebel spy” t shirt, WHY IS STAR TOURS SO CRUEL TO ME.

Next we went to Tower of Terror, and it only had a 13 minute wait, i.e. 0 minutes!

Look at this great memory.

Now it was 11pm, so we headed out of the park.
Til next year, DHS!

On the way out Jamie was waving goodbye to inanimate objects, making fun of me for always saying things like “goodbye Tower of Terror”.

We planned on going to Trader Sam’s for a cocktail when we got back, but instead we opted to drink milk and eat cookies in our room.

We picked up some cups from the lounge and I bet Jamie he couldn’t make it back to the room with one on his head.

Cute turndown chocolates.

After eating the cookies from this morning I think Jamie was on a sugar rush.

I really didn’t want to go to sleep tonight because tomorrow was our last full day, so we would be waking up to a Tragical Express notice hanging from our door.
Sad times.
We better make the most of it!

Day 14
Monday 5th October 2015​

Part 1 - Festival of Fantasy!​

As I’d anticipated, we woke up to this monstrosity.

Comfort food is necessary.
I ate some of my magical cookie bar from the Wilderness Lodge for breakfast and it was delicious.

Jamie went down to the pool and I packed up for a while in the morning.
Then at about 1:30pm Jamie returned and we got ready to go see Festival of Fantasy – FINALLY.
Why had we not seen this yet this year.

We took the boat over to Magic Kingdom.

On the way in I saw this poster, which I NEED.
It’s so wonderful.

First we went into the Emporium.
This is a great t shirt!

I always buy a (men’s) sweater every year from Disney World, so here’s my choice this year.
And Jamie bought the same one for himself!!
We’re so weird.

Jamie also bought this one.

Jamie’s cashier was very chirpy and enthusiastic, so he joked that she obviously had a crush on him.
He came to the conclusion that all of the CMs have a crush on him, because they all smile and wave at him all the time.


We grabbed a spot for the parade right outside the Emporium.

First there was a school’s marching band from Indiana!

Then the Philharmonic!

Then we waited for the parade.

Apparently Frank G. Wells has a high window on Main Street because he loved climbing mountains, climbing 6 of the world’s 7 tallest peaks!
You go Frank Coco.

Soon Festival of Fantasy was making it’s way towards us!

This was so great, I’ve never had so much character interaction during a parade in my life!

A Beauty and the Beast dancer waved at me,
Elsa pointed to my side braid, and motioned that it was just like hers,
FLYNN RIDER BLEW ME A KISS.
And a bunch of characters came right up to us.

But my favourite was Captain Hook, who made a heart shape with his hand and pointed at me, so I did the same back to him, to which he kicked his leg out towards me.
Jamie said the kick was him rejecting my heart shape I made to him!
I think he was just so happy he lost control of his limbs.
Anyway, enjoy some pictures and videos!

Such a good parade!!!
Our last day was starting out great.

We followed the parade up Main Street and exited the park.

Day 14
Monday 5th October 2015​

Part 2 - Smash Mouth!​

We got the express monorail to the TTC, then onwards to Epcot!

There weren’t any attractions we particularly wanted to do, but I wanted to buy some Food and Wine merch, and get my Food and Wine passport stamped, and Jamie wanted to design some cars at the Test Track exit.
There was also an Eat to the Beat show we were keen to see!

We arrived at 4:15pm and got a photopass in front of Spaceship Earth.
The photographer told us to kiss, GAH cheesy.
But this is the result, which I actually think is pretty cute.

And then this, yay.

Our first stop was Sunshine Seasons for food!
We both got the turkey sandwich.

I’d had it before, and I’d forgotten that this thing just doesn’t fit in my mouth it’s very big.

Then we went to the Port of Entry store and I bought this Food and Wine book!

It has lots of Food and Wine stories and recipes, including my favourite Hawaiian pork slider!!

Then we headed up to World Showcase.

I TACO MEXICO.

We strolled around World Showcase and I got my passport stamped at all of the places we’d eaten.

Then and I went to Mousegear, and Jamie went through the Test Track exit to the design stations.
I found a t-shirt I really liked but they only had men’s, so I went back out to the festival stalls and found it in women’s yay!
Here’s what it looks like:

After making my purchase I went to Test Track to find Jamie making his cars.
Although he’d scored 226 the other day, today he couldn’t seem to beat the high score of the day that was 224.
He vowed to come back and try again later, so we left.

It was almost time for the 6:45pm Eat to the Beat show!

We stopped off at Club Cool for a Vegita Beta and a melon drink, then headed to the America pavilion for…

SMASH MOUTH.



We got a nice spot on a wall just to the side of the seating area.

The sun was starting to set and the band was great.
Perfect!

Jamie and I enjoy a DRUM SOLOOOO.

This was so much fun!
I was very happy to have seen Wilson Philips AND Smash Mouth at Epcot this year.

The show ended at about 7:20pm so we went back to Test Track, and Jamie got 226!

BUT SOMEONE HAD NOW GOT 230.

He tried again…

And he managed to get 230, which replaced the older 230 on the big screen!

Day 14
Monday 5th October 2015​

Part 3 - Last night at the Magic Kingdom​

Now that we had done everything on our to-do list, we took our bags back to the Poly and arrived at around 8:15pm
Here’s our lovely club lounge.

We stopped off at the lounge to get some diet coke and desserts.

The chocolate tart was my favourite!
We took them upstairs to head back to the room, but I stopped to take some pictures first.

After we’d eaten our desserts in our room, we went to the Magic Kingdom!
Of course we did.
It’s our last night!
This time tomorrow we will be leaving on a jet plane.
How sad.
Packing can be postponed.

We arrived at MK at about 9pm!

And of course, the Electrical Parade was running so it was super busy.

But we were walking under the train station just as the Cinderella float was going by, and Jamie shouted,
“Drizella!!!”
and did the goofiest run into the Magic Kingdom you have ever seen.

We had a fastpass for the Jungle Cruise but didn’t know how to get there during the parade, as the left side of Main Street was impossible.

So we just wandered down the backstage entrance to Tomorrowland, and walked alllll the way around behind the castle

SO BUSY.

We found a crossing in Frontierland by Splash Mountain that would take us to Adventureland, so we stood there and waited for the signal to cross from the CM.

Then I realised that the CM was @courtneybelle !!

I yelled her name as we were passing but the parade was so loud she didn’t hear me.
I snapchatted her to say I’d seen her though, and we exchanged a couple of messages which was nice.

FINALLY we made it to the Jungle Cruise!

One of my favourite things happened on this cruise that I’d never seen before.
Our skipper told us he had a way of making a hippo leave us alone.
He said,
“This has worked with all of my ex-girlfriends…
I LOVE YOU! I’M READY FOR COMMITMENT!”
OMG, I was dying, it was so funny.
I love self-deprecating humour.

After the Jungle Cruise it was time for a NUTELLA WAFFLE from Sleepy Hollow.
This is definitely up there in my favourites.
Not favourite Disney desserts.
Just favourite things out of everything that exists in this world.

Jamie got an ice cream cookie sandwich, it was ginormous!

And here’s my Nutella waffle, with strawberries and banana (no blueberries please and thanks)

YUM AND WOW.

This isn't an action shot, Jamie asked for this photo, I have no idea why.

Bigger than my head!

Just as we sat down at Sleepy Hollow, Wishes started, and we could see it through the trees!

Yay! But sadness for the last Wishes of the trip.

We were so full after our huge desserts, and we both felt queasy afterwards.
So the only logical thing to do is ride Space Mountain.
We had a fastpass to use!
I think it had just re-opened because we joined a big line, but we moved very quickly.

On the way in, another of mine and Jamie’s favourite moments happened…
A really enthusiastic CM was scanning magic bands, and she said to the young girl in front of us,
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELLEN!!!”
To which little Ellen looked at her completely deadpan and said in the grumpiest tone,
“… It’s not my birthday.”



We burst out laughing, and thankfully so did the CM

After Space Mountain we FINALLY got to see Enchanted Tales with Belle!
Third time’s a charm!

We were absolutely baffled by the magic mirror that turns into a door at the start.
HOW.

Our trip came to the absolute perfect ending when our very own Hymie was chosen to be a guard in the show!!!

SO FUNNY!
Afterwards Jamie said “I LOVED that!”


I got a cute little bookmark from the show too.

Then we went to meet Ariel!
She had A LOT to tell us!
She was dumbfounded that we use dinglehoppers to eat with, and she was grossed out when I warned her that we eat greasy food that she could be brushing into her hair

Then we went to Splash, the last ride of the last night has to be my favourite.
BUT IT WAS CLOSED.


But it’s fine, we would be back here in the morning!

I got some pressed pennies from the Splash area, then rode Big Thunder.

I took some photos of Splash before heading out of the park.
UGH I love it so much.

It was now midnight so we headed out of the park and back to the hotel.

We went back to our room and watched a 30 minute video on how the Enchanted Tales Mirror works

Then we packed until 3am!

We’re leaving tomorrow!

Day 15
Tuesday 6th October 2015​

Part 1 - It's the magic that can happen when it's autumn!​

It’s our last morning waking up at Walt Disney World!!!
Everything is terrible.

I wanted to get up early to go see the welcome show at Magic Kingdom, but after packing until 3am I was NOT getting up for my 7am alarm!
Instead we got up at around 9am, did some final packing and got breakfast from the lounge.

Hidden Mickeys.

I went out on to the balcony for a last look at the incredible view.
Every year the weather on leaving day reflects our mood.
MISERABLE.

I could hear Dream Along With Mickey all the way across the lake, which made me emotional.

GOODBYE BALCONY.

GOODBYE HUGE BEAUTIFUL ROOM.

We reluctantly left the room and reluctantly checked out downstairs.
Then we reluctantly dragged our bags over to the main lobby and reluctantly left them with bell services.
We were getting some last minute magic in before our bus to the airport.

We went upstairs to the monorail stop to pay one last visit to the Magic Kingdom.

Our first stop was Tomorrowland.

We’d missed our fastpass for Buzz earlier, but the CM at the fastpass kiosk rescheduled it for us, to right now!
That saved us a 25 minute line, WOO.

I let Jamie go on the left, since I’d stolen his bonus on Men in Black the other day
He would be leaving Walt Disney World in a blaze of glory today!!!
999,999!

After Buzz we rode the PeopleMover!
Simple pleasures.

We left the PeopleMover at around 11:45am.
We had a lunch reservation at 12:05pm, but the trolley show was due to start at 12!
We had been very punctual for all of our reservations this trip so we decided not to feel too bad about being 5 minutes late today.
We hadn’t seen the trolley show yet!
And I LOVE the autumn version.


We found a spot on Main Street where we knew the trolley would stop and waited patiently.

Dream Along With Mickey was on!
I’m sure this show would play every 20 minutes or something, it seemed to be on constantly this trip.
I got to hear the final song, and the instrumental version of the first song, so I was enjoying it.

Soon the trolley show arrived!

I know I always say how much I love everything, and everything is my favourite, but it all really is my favourite.
I LOVE the autumn trolley show.
I love the main “put on your new fall hat we’re taking a stroll” part, and also the Harvest Moon part.
It makes me feel warm and fuzzy, and I definitely got emotional watching it on our last day!

After the show we hurried over to Be Our Guest, for a final turkey sandwich!
We checked in and found a nice table along the back wall of the ballroom.
It was a nice, spacious area that I’ve overlooked until now.

Here’s our usual lunch order!
Two turkey sandwiches, one with fries and one with beans.
Why are we so boring.
I DON'T CARE I LOVE IT.

We also had a triple chocolate cupcake!
It’s pretty.

It was a lovely final meal!

Day 15
Tuesday 6th October 2015
Part 2 - Goodbye Magic Kingdom!


After lunch we went over to ride Splash but I was sad because they were sending down empty logs so it seemed closed.
But they’d just re-opened!
WOOO.

The girl in front of us and the two boys in the front do not look like they’re having fun..!

I was so glad Splash was open and I got to ride it again before going home!

Jamie found his favourite bear in the Splash gift shop.
He had been cuddling this at the Wilderness Lodge too.

Next we went up to the Main Street Cinema to look at the art.

I wanted to buy a commissioned Br’er Rabbit sketch from the artist, but he said it wouldn’t be ready until 4:30pm, and our Magical Express was at 4:40pm!
Oh well.

We went back to the Briar Patch store to see if they had any pre-drawn sketches but they didn’t.
Boo.
I still had a look around though.

Jamie was getting very warm and appreciated being able to sit down in this rocking chair

They were selling a lovely Br’er Rabbit book.

I already own something similar so I didn’t buy it.
Here’s the one I have! It's from 1963, and I found it in an old second hand book shop in a tiny town near my house when I was about 7 years old.

After looking around the Briar Patch we headed out of the park.
I stopped on Main Street to buy an Alex and Ani – it’s Jiminy Cricket and it says “when you wish upon a star”.

We continued up Main Street and Dream Along With Mickey was playing AGAIN!

We paid a quick visit to the fire station to pick up some Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards (free souvenir!), then said our last goodbyes!

We got the boat back to the Poly, and our captain was hilarious!
He kept saying things like,

“Ladies and Gentlemen, we will be arriving at Disney Springs in approximately 45 minutes.”
And
“We are about to dock at Art of Animation and Pop Century resorts.”

Thankfully there didn’t seem to be any panicked first time visitors on the boat!

Day 15
Tuesday 6th October 2015
Part 3 - Goodbye Polynesian!


We got off the boat and walked around to the Luau cove, since we hadn’t ventured round there yet.

Then we went to sit on the quiet beach.
There were some pretty trees around there!

We sat on a swing chair for a while.
I asked Jamie to take my picture and he said,
“NO! YOU take MY picture!”
Sheesh.
So I got up to take his picture, and he just sat there like this…

After relaxing at the beach for a while we wandered inside and I bought a pin from Boutiki.
I buy a pin from every resort I stay at

Then we went up to Tambu Lounge at ‘Ohana!

We shared a natural lemonade with wild berry foam.

Then it was time to collect our luggage and wait outside for the Magical Express!

I wandered in and out taking some final photos.

We had a lot of luggage! I'll admit most of it was mine.

The bus came at around 4:45pm to take us to Orlando International Airport.
Boooo.

It was very sad.
I always cry on the Magical Express back to the airport.
I just sat there quietly watching the video.
SADNESS.

Day 15
Tuesday 6th October 2015
Part 4 - GOODBYE WALT DISNEY WORLD!

We were dropped off at terminal B and we needed to be at terminal A, so we got completely lost, of course.
We ALWAYS get lost somehow!

We eventually found it, checked in, dropped our bags, and explored for a while before going through security.

We looked in the Sea World store, then the Disney Store, then the Universal Store.
Clearly we had not spent enough time around all of this merch

I really like this Marvel t-shirt for Jamie.
(He said he didn't like it, forgot about it, then this year he said "Ooh, I like this shirt", and bought it. )

Then we went to the food court and got a sandwich from Quiznos.

Jamie had beef steak (or something like that), and I got turkey swiss!
My second turkey sandwich in about 5 or 6 hours.

It was no Be Our Guest turkey sandwich, but it was still pretty tasty.

After eating we headed through security.
Waaa.

We took the fake-orail to our gate.

Our plane was delayed a little, so we shared a vanilla bean frap and found a seat by our gate.

We ended up boarding at around 8:25pm and took off at around 9pm.
I was going to need this wine!!!

It was a fairly uneventful flight.
We always fly through the night going home, so we both just nap and eat a little.

It was a very turbulent flight!
A woman had to come up to premium economy and sit with an oxygen mask for a while!

Soon we had caught up with the sun, indicating that we were almost home. We landed at around 9am UK time (4am Florida time).

UGH.
Look at this weather.
Everything is terrible.

We got off the plane, and the woman at security knew that we were an Orlando flight so she was making Disney jokes to everyone.
She looked at my town on my passport and said,
“Oh, I know someone from there. IT’S A SMALL WORLD.”
Jamie told her she was going to make me cry because I was really sad to be home.

We picked up our bags, and we had just missed an hourly train home by about 10 minutes so we had to wait a while.

We made it back to our hometown at about midday – which is 7am Florida time.
We both felt like we'd been up all night so we were very tired.

My mum met us at the station, we dropped Jamie off at our flat and I went back to my mum’s for a while to see them and my dog Stanley.

Stan was so excited to see me he jumped at me as I walked through the door and crashed into my face, splitting my lip!!!
Even though I was bleeding, it was a very cute welcome home!!

He really enjoyed his Mickey ice cream toy I bought him!

He was even holding it like an ice cream!

He’s so precious.

After that I just moped around, went back to the flat, then went to see my dad.

And with that, our Disney 2015 trip comes to an end.

Sooooo…

Is it time to go back yet???

Nothing to worry about over here, life is actually pretty great!

As luck would have it, I landed the job that was number one on my list of applications!
So, if anyone is interested, I now work in clinical trials research at my local (Russell Group) university!

Fantastic! Very happy for you!

It's so great to see you back here! I hope all is going well with you. Congratulations on your new job, that is fantastic!!!

I also took some time off from the DIS, I've been busy with school work and everything, but I'll be home for summer break is a little over a week so I'm very excited!!!

I really enjoyed reading the end of your TR! It sounded like such a wonderful time!
