...and a happy New Year! 12/30/2010

We will be glad to have them join us in the FE, just let us know as soon as you know!
You still have room 6080, right?

Yes, I still have room 6080. Now to wait for the kids room number. I should know soon since all the GTY are getting their assignments. When my son got home from work last night, I asked him if he would like to bunk with his sister for the cruise, as normal a shrug. I told him that his sister has the ground rules ready to discuss, and that I have one rule - no girls in the room. He needs to be an :littleangel:

We received our room assignment. Room #2052. Deck 2 right across from the elevators. We are very excited about our upgrade! Also, we will be participating in the FE. Yeah!!!!

:welcome:Glad to have you join us. As I ask everyone that joins us, if you want to join the FE, please let me know.

Twokats,
Thanks for the welcome. I'm thinking about joining the FE. I'm trying to come up with some ideas. I'm so not the creative type. How many participants do you think there will be?

I was at WDW during the 2010 Half Marathon and told myself I would be running in it for 2011. But that's not going to happen. Running is really hard for me. I debated on running in the 5K and missed the date, so I'm on a waitlist. Not sure if I will be granted a space or not. However, I signed the kids up for Kids activities and that should be fun for them. What tim do you run the 5K on CC? I'd be open to joining.

Niky, were you joining us on the FE or are you still thinking about it.
You, RoseQuartz, amygail74, revrob, flightrn, KYDIZFAN, MLLuvsTC are our cruisin' buddies that are not on the FE list as of yet. If any of ya'll are wanting to join us, let me know by the 30th of this month, since that is what we decided as the cutoff date. :surfweb:

I've been giving the FE a lot of thought, but just don't know if I'm up for it. It's been a rough Fall around here; I recently had;) unexpected surgery and am still trying to recover, plus keep everything else in life "up and running" while doing so. I start to get a bit stressed when I think of trying to pull of the details of the FE in addition to everything else. I haven't totally ruled it out, but I'll definitely let you know by the 30th. Thanks for asking!

Welcome  Nicole and family!

Dr Pepper and Minute Maid Lemonade mixed is something I have not tired. Who came up with that...

When I lived in Germany they had a mixture of Coke and Fanta orange soda that was very popular.

Welcome Kyanandme! In answer to your question the CC 5k starts shortly after we dock at CC in the morning. I'm not sure, but I think they let us off the boat a little before the rest of the people.
Looks like alot of us are going to be near each other on deck 2. Is anyone else a little stressed about the location of the new tween club being so close to our rooms? I hope we don't have rowdy tweenagers running the halls after midnight when the club closes.

Terri - I honestly don't think there is going to be a lot of kids on this boat. Even just looking at our group, we don't have a lot of younger kids or even Tweens.

Hopefully everyone is well behaved ;)

Below is a great video clip of the NYE party on the Magic. We were in Miami Harbour. For a couple that has not seen midnight on NYE, we had a great time and no problems staying up and partying last year. For those who want to be surprised, please do not watch. For those who want to get even more excite to see a little bit of what's to come..... Here it is:

Glad you are thinking about joining the FE. I don't think creative is a pre-requisite. On our last cruise we got things as simple as candy or lip gloss, notebooks, just whatever you desire. It is like Christmas, whatever the giver wants to give - it's the thought that counts!!!

Right now we have 11 families committed to the FE. The complete list is on post #2 on page 1 of this thread. As we get past the deadline, I will make sure everyone has the complete list. :surfweb:

We are also in the Deck 2 group. As the mom of a tween (he will be 11 by the cruise) I can guarantee he won't be running around! When I signed him up for the kids activities I opted not to let him check himself in and out. He's such a rule-follower that I don't worry about him being rowdy and crazy. I just worry that I won't be able to find him when I need him. I also think it's for his own safety. Let's hope all the tween parents opted for the sign-in/out so the hallways might be quieter.:thumbsup2

Very cool! I'm so excited I can't wait. Did they have pirate night on NYE, or did they have 2 fireworks, or did they not have fireworks on pirate night? Just wondering how that worked out. Could you see fireworks from Miami since you were near there? I wonder if we'll be near any land when they do ours this year.

They save pirate night for another night without fireworks. And yes, as our fireworks were going off, you could see the fireworks in Miami Harbour. There were lots of extras on the NYE cruise. The only thing taken away were the fireworks on pirate night. I shall seal my lips so you are surprised with the extras. Just be ready to party on NYE. And for those with younger children. There were a number of kids up until midnight, but the deck cleared out of children pretty quickly after midnight.

On NYE, the kid's party will go for I believe it is Oceaneer's until 1:00AM the the teens until 2:00AM. So I am guessing there may be some noise as they disburse that night, but it is one night. As a parent of a teen who has cruised on Disney since he was 16, and I let him come and go as he pleased, I really hope the kids respected the privacy in the room halls.

I've seen both types of teens in the halls, the respectful ones that are just walking around in groups having fun and the others that are loud and you can tell are up to no good. The bad part is most parents don't really know what their teen does when they are away. I being one of them... I would hope my daughter was being respectful and responsible while I'm not around, but I also know she is a follower so I don't know what she would do if the group of kids she was with decided to do something they weren't supposed to. What's that saying...It's always the quiet ones. :lmao:

So true, we can only trust that they always go back to the values that we raised them to respect.:littleangel: I can only hope.

Is NYE formal night, or what is the expected dress code for this night if not?

Is NYE formal night, or what is the expected dress code for this night if not?

Everything goes on a Disney Cruise. There are people in tux throughout the night or just for dinner (this is not the majority), and others semi formal, and others cruise casual. For us, my DH won't even bring a jacket on the cruise, hmmm, gotta rethink that one, I booked a dinner in Palos. For me, I will have the standard black dress with low heel sandals for dinner that will nicely convert to deck party wear meaning - comfy to dance and party to the music. The evening is fun because everyone does there own thing, but at the same time we can do it together because we are all there for one reason. Bring in the New Year with Mickey and wishes to all for the happiest of 2011. We are supplied with the hats and some other party favours, but bring those funny glasses. I bring glow bracelets from the dollar store and hand them out to the kids around me. They love it.
