...and a happy New Year! 12/30/2010

I am going to have to bid farewell. We have decided to change our cruise to the Halloween cruise leaving in 32 days  It is just financially easier for us then trying to squeeze the other cruise in so close to Christmas and we have 5 birthdays starting in October. I know everyone will have a WONDERful cruise BON VOYAGE

Sorry to see you go, but have a wonderful cruise!

Noticed that there are Cat 12 available on our cruise again!

probably Castaways Cat.12's  Sorry to see you go Castaway, I'm sure you'll have fun on the halloween one too.

Well all, I'm off for 18 days of heaven in Disney and on a cruise! Wish me luck that these tropical storms lighten up for the next few weeks!

Terri - Have a great trip to WDW!!! I'll be thinking of you.

91 Day Folks! :yay:

For those that can book tomorrow, what do you plan on booking and when. Thinking of Palo's Bunch on NYD. DH said he was okay with that since Football would be on later. Also thinking of Palo's Dinner on Jan 2 or Jan 4, Just not sure yet.

We would love to be able to book anything tomorrow! However, since we are new to DCL, no booking for us for a couple more weeks. :sad2:

We're trying to decide on Palo, if we can get in by booking on 10/16. NY day would be a great time! I've heard such great things about it. We'll see what leftovers we can get!

Sad to see someone leaving the board but jealous she is sailing so much sooner!!!

Sharron - there will be slots available for you at the 75 day mark. They hold back a portion for each group and you can always book onboard as well. As you get close to the date for your booking, reach out and us Castaway members can help you.

Booked Palo's tonight and 2 excursions... We are not set on the excursion. The only thing I wanted to do was the Skytram in St Thomas, but that was sold out.

We booked Palo's on Jan 1 at 10:30am and then Palo's Dinner on Jan 4 at 6pm. Unfortunately the tea's were not available. When I was checking there was all sorts of availability for dinner and Brunch.

Good luck with your selections.

Well, the cruise is paid off and we have Palo Brunch reservations for Jan 1. I think I will now go to bed !!!! :thumbsup2

Laura,
Thanks for the info. I didn't realize they held back reservations for other groups! I would also love to get a brunch for New Years Day. It sounds like that's a popular plan! We'll just keep our fingers crossed and see what happens.

We're looking at Bernard's tour in St. Maarten. I have been to St. Thomas before. We'll just grab a taxi to a beach that day unless I find some amazing excursion in my researching.

Has anyone done the Stingray experience on CC? Wondering how it is. I think my kids would enjoy it but I'm not sure about how much time is involved.

Sharron, we did this on our last cruise. We got an early morning slot, I think at 9:30. So we walked off the ship and went to stingray area, which is before the family beach. The whole thing took about 1/2 hour. Since our daughter was 7 at the time, we thought this might be better than some of the ones at Grand Cayman, which I hear is good, you are in deeper water. They give you a bit of training and some information about Stingrays before you go out and then break you into groups. There is about 8 people per feeding area. You have to wear a vest and you stand in about water that is calf or thigh deep. You get about 3 opportunities to feed the Stingray and then they let you go out an snorkel in the enclosed area for as long as you want. Since DD and I didn't want to Snorkel, DH did and we just hung out on the beach and then we went to the family beach to find a place to hang out for hours. DD wrote a report for school on Stringrays from the information she learned. So we thought it was interesting. Not something we would do again..

I never understand how people do so much at CC, we enjoyed the beach time and relaxing, we never saw the kids area or some of the events at CC.

Sharron, One thing I forgot to mention is that you can start booking your reservations on Midnight of your 75th day. So since you are in TX, I would assume that would be 11pm on your 76th day. Make sure you have preregistered with the DCL site.

I was luckily because right now midnight on the 90th day was actually 9pm on the 91st day. I was not up late at all trying to do my reservations.
Since AZ doesn't change time, when we move into Winter, we will then be 2 hours instead of 3 hours behind East coast.

Laura

I am surprised, but this is probably good news for those of you booking at 75 day mark, but there are Palo Brunch available for all sea days and times On my last cruise, I know that after the first evening, there was nothing available.

I wonder if this means the ship is definitely not full and they will be offering discounts as they get closer (which means we don't get them once we pass the cancellation date  )

One thing I was surprised is the skyride to paradise point in St Thomas had not reservations available. Does any one know if this is something easy to do on your own?

wow, I can't believe this cruise is only 3 months away, i booked it almost a year ago! Haven't checked this thread since then, so i'm glad to see there are other people going. Have I missed anything interesting?

Just to reintroduce myself--
My name is Kari, just graduated form nursing school in August and this is a grad/bday trip (my bday is on 12/30)
my mom
my cousin Ariel (she'll fit in well on the Wonder) who graduated from high school in May and her bday is in Jan.
Her mom, my aunt

Hi Kari - Congratulations on your getting your cap! (Is that what they call it?) My sister and Mother were both nurses and my nephew just got his degree in May.

I see you are from TX, seems like there are several people here from TX as well.

I think the last thing we have to do for this cruise, look for a Stay, Park and Fly for our departure city and book our housesitter. Oh and figure out something for "Formal" Wear.

We booked brunch at 10:30 on the 1st too...No teas available on the 16th when we booked, so maybe they are not booking any.

Tina, We will wave to you at the Brunch. Seems like at least 3 of us already have reservations for the first.

Another question... We wanted to do the Skyride at St Thomas and noticed that DCL no longer has reservations? Another post I saw they stop that reservation. Wondering if anyone is doing on their on their own.

Laura,
Thanks for the info on the stingrays. DH and I have done this type of thing before so we could pass but I'm thinking my kids would think it very cool. We'll probably book it. The other 99% of the day will be spent in a lounge chair, except when I have to move for food and beverage!

I slipped up and said something about the cruise and my DS overheard! Luckily I was able to cover my tracks. I'm taking a short girlfriend's cruise in a few weeks so I told him I was takling about THAT one. After we get back I'm really going to have to be more careful!! It's so hard to keep such a big secret!! :santa:
