After much research, I have made reservations at the Anaheim Plaza for March 5 - 8.

HoJo's is booked, the Fairfield is $212 a night (ugh!), everywhere else is more expensive than the Anaheim Plaza. This trip is last minute and we are trying to be economical! Our 3 nights will be $290 with tax.

I know there have been reveiws of the Anaheim Plaza on here...and I looked at old postings but cannot find any now! lol.

Any comments? Any suggestions on what rooms to avoid or which to ask to stay in?

Any help is appreciated.

hey i am currently staying at the anaheim plaza i love it here and when i come back i will be staying here again.
We are in a delux room with a king bed its just the right size for the two of us, It has a microwave and fridge as well as a nice size bathroom.
The staff are very friendly and will always help you no matter what you need.
the pool and Spa are lovely the pool is heated so its a nice temprature and the spa is hot.
Its alot closer to disneyland than all the reviews say i would say about a five minute walk to the gate not just the entrance.
You can get wireless internet for a fee but its not as expensive as the reviews say either we got 30 days for 99 dollars.
You can pay by hour by day and by week/month.
hope this helps
if you have any questions just ask

We've stayed there a couple of times, and it is fine. It is not my first choice, but it is a decent, clean place to stay. The rooms are pretty big, and it is withing walking distance to the park. I assume you're flying, but if you are driving, they charge for parking.
If you want to stay at Hojos, I'd keep checking back with them for cancellations. But if you end up at the Anaheim Plaza, you'll be fine.

Thank you Mareeld86 and BillyFan for the comments.

It looks fine, but just needed a little reassurance! :thumbsup2

Okay I'll be honest... it is the one place that my husband said that we are not allowed to stay at again. Our room smelled and was a little run down and kind of dumpy. The beds were pretty hard. We are not very picky and it is nice that this one was just a short ways down the street so it was a quick walk, but it wasn't worth it for us and we got the room for $59 a night. This was just about two years ago so I don't know if things have changed. As long as you go in expecting a very simple MOTEL, then I guess you won't be disappointed. I was drawn in by the price because that was all we could afford that trip.

Oh no, we are staying there in 2 weeks. Mostly because this is a quicky trip and wanted it to be super budget.

I know DSNY4ever and she is a really honest person so I believe what she is saying. I hope we have a better experience than she did:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

So are there microwaves and fridges in all of the rooms? Their site does not list microwaves so I didn't think they had them.

DSNY4ever - thanks for your reply.

I must say I am a bit nervous...I am hoping your experience was a one off and not the norm. I am not expecting a great hotel...but more of a Motel 6 kind of place.

mommy2allyandaveri are you still going to stay there? If you are can you post when you get back how it was for you?

Some people say it was just fine (BillyFan) and some really like it (mareeld86) so I figure it is a gamble.

Actually, my DH loves a hard bed...me - not so much. So, he will be happy with that. He would rather not have a nice pillow top...me I love the plushy soft mattress. But we walk an average of 10 miles a day at DL, so sleeping is NEVER an issue regardless of the mattress.

Any more comments?

We stayed there 14 years ago. Great location. Rooms were nothing fancy but clean. The pool is huge. We enjoyed it!

Yes, we are still going to stay there because we leave in 9 days:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: And we got a really great rate, much better than anything else within walking distance.

We don't plan to spend all that much time in the room so it won't be the end of the world if it isn't a great place.

Before booking I did read through trip advisor and it seemed o.k.

Yes, I would be happy to post about our stay when I return.

I have stayed here several times over the last 10 or 12 years, the last time was last March, and I have another stay booked 2/14-2/17. It is a basic place, not deluxe. It's fine for me & DH for crashing at the end of the day at the parks! A little run down sometimes, but clean. You can't beat the location or the price. I am getting 3 nights for $192 including tax.

Can't be too bad, I keep going back! :)

I have stayed there three times since 2007. It's obviously nothing fancy. It's old and slightly rundown. But we like it. Would I pay $100 a night for it? Probably not. but for the price, it's perfect. I've stayed in two types of rooms - two double beds and a king bed room. The king bed room was a bit smaller. The double bed room had the bathroom sink/counter separate from the bathroom and it had more counter space. All of the rooms we've stayed in have had a fridge and microwave.

I took some photos of the room/grounds on our most recent trip. Let me know if you'd like me to upload them.

Thank you everyone for your responses.

Bluedoll, if you could post the pictures that would be terrific!

I am feeling a bit better about staying there now. One negative posting versus 4 positive....I would say that is pretty good.

We are going to have 2 queen beds and I'm really not looking for fancy either. We have stayed at GC and DLH before, and while they are nice, for the amount of time we spend in our room, it just doesn't justify the money you spend to stay there. We don't spend much time in our room at all...we are all about being in the Parks. And staying within walking distance is a must!

Here are the photos we took last month.....

I forgot to take a picture before we took the comforter off

There's a table and chair in the corner, t.v. armoire, fridge and microwave

Closet. Our room also had a chair and foot stool. You can't see it in any photos. But if you look closely, the chair is at the bottom of this picture (it has some clothes on the top of it.) You can also see the back of it in the mirror.

We were on the second floor. We had a little patio. I don't think all rooms have them though.

Looking down...the people below us had a little patio with some plants...

Haha- I was the only negative review? Well, yes I would be curious about other people's stays as well. Our trip was May '07 I think and this is what our room looked like exactly-
(I copied this picture from someone else's Trip Advisor report- so I can't take credit)

Bluedoll's pictures look like what they offered to us as "the Deluxe"- but we went for the cheapest room, we did not have a microwave or fridge. We don't spend any time in our room usually, but my husband said he would rather fork over a little more for the Dessert Inn which is nothing special either, but a little nicer.

I hope everyone has a good stay though- maybe you'll get a better room! Mommy2allyandaveri- let me know what you guys think, I am sure you will be fine.

Our room was super cheap.

We also had a double bed room that looked like the one above once too. It was the same price as our king room. It had a fridge and microwave. And more counter space than the bathroom in the king room.

Just to let you know we are staying here at the moment and have been here for 3 weeks. They are currently re painting and doing up all the rooms we have been looking in as we walk past each day....

It's also on my list of hotels that I won't return to. Our room was really run down and seemed dirty. I'm sure the carpets had been vacuumed and maybe even cleaned a few times but the stains were so set it that it wasn't going to get any cleaner.

I'd rather spend a little more, stay closer, and get a free breakfast (even though it isn't much). Or I'll use Priceline or Hotwire to get a comparable rate.

But as evidenced here, some people really like it. I've stayed at just about every hotel along Harbor, from HoJo down to Anaheim Plaza, and a few more farther down. Anaheim Plaza falls very low on my list.
