An Unforgettable Finish- Oct 2011 TR **Happily Ever After (Completed 5/3)

The last day of vacation is always so sad but yours really made me feel bad for the boys. I hope later in the afternoon the rain stopped and you were still able to do some fun things at Disney.

Did you ever find your original set of keys?

Oh no! Locking your keys in the car is the worst! I've done it more than a few times :rolleyes1 and I've never been smart enough to carry a spare key! That is great thinking and I'm so happy you were able to find it!

I'm sorry your last day was a washout, that is such a disappointment. We've had such good weather the past few trips, I'm worried there will be a lot of rain on our Oct trip. It does seem like Oct is a rainy month in Florida.

I'm curious to see where you were headed, I hope it is someplace awesome to make your last day brighter!

As a side note, I have to say that your day exactly encapsulates why I hate the new $10 per person dining penalty. If you had the exact same day this year, you'd have to stick it out in the miserable rain, or be charged as a no show! I don't think Disney should punish families for the weather! :sad2:

That is a sad way to spend your last Disney day. I'm glad you were at least able to find your spare key and enjoy lunch... even if the rest of the day was a complete wash out.

I typically like rainy days, just because it tends to clear the parks out, but a cold, relentless rain is never fun anywhere.:headache:

Yikes. What a rotten day. The rain sounds just awful, even without key and Landon shoe issues. :headache: Hope the next stop brightens your day.

"Maybe it's okay. I know we usually say our goodbyes on Main Street, but pretty soon, you'll never have to say goodbye to this place again."

Oohh.. Curious. What's coming up soon?? Have I missed something? :confused3

PHEW! So glad you found your spare key. That would have been awful.

I don't blame yall for being bored from Little Mermaid 2... Little Mermaid should have never had any sequels. :sad2:

Aww, I'm sorry you had to cut your vacation short. I get it though. Who wants to stick around just to be miserable and wet?

Ugh...the rain that day was so awful! :( We cut our time in the park short too, we were just so sick of being soaked that we went to the airport hours earlier than we needed to! I don't mind a shower here or there in Disney, but the rain the last 2 days of our trips was just too much!

Glad you found your spare key! :thumbsup2

You're such a good writer! I felt like I was really experiencing that terrible morning right along with you! Thank goodness you had the spare key in that bag.

I also have a husband who volunteers for the really bad tasks. I should probably thank him for that more often.

I'm intrigued as to what's coming next. Are you moving to Orlando? What's happening? I can't wait to find out!

Thanks! It was a terrible morning, wasn't it? I was so happy to find that spare key in my bag. If only the rain had let up a little, it would have been a good day.

I love having a husband who volunteers for all the bad tasks. It's easy to take it for granted after awhile.

Next installment is hopefully coming right up!

LOVE the update!...so sad for a rainy, cold end to your trip. You do tell it all so well though and as we all know, Disney trips cant be sunshine and rainbows all the time!:)

Thank goodness you found that key!:thumbsup2

Cant wait till the next installment...no more goodbyes??....Hmmm...DVC?

when is your next trip with the munchkins going to be?

I hated having the trip end with a rainy, cold day! I really wanted to have sunshine and rainbows on the last day, but it wasn't meant to be.

It was such a relief to find the key in my bag! That's one thing I'm going to bring from now on, just in case.

All will be revealed soon!

I'm not exactly sure when our next trip with the boys will be. I'm considering September, October, November, and December. We usually skip Disney in the summer months, but I love the fall and winter at Disney.

Did you ever find your original set of keys?

I hate all vacation endings, but it really was sad to have it end with so much rain and a day of doing nothing but sitting in the Baby Care Center. I felt sorry for the boys, too, although they had it way better than we did, since the stroller provided a bit of protection. Sadly, we were leaving Disney property for good that trip and did not make it back to do anything else. I don't think the rain ever cleared up that day.

We sure did find the original keys. They were sitting right in the trunk of the car where I had left them. I blame the rain! :rotfl:

I once locked my keys in the car when I stopped to get gas on the way home from a Disney trip, and ever since then, I try to be sure to keep a spare key with me. Just in case. I was really happy I had it that day!

I really was disappointed with all the rain on our last day. We had good weather for most of the trip, so I'm not sure if it's October weather or what. We had had a really good streak of rainfree trips for the longest time before that, so I guess it couldn't last forever.

It was indeed someplace awesome! :goodvibes

Our experience that day was one of the first things I thought of when I heard about the new ADR cancellation penalty. We actually tried to call and cancel our Tusker House ADR, but couldn't get through. After twenty minutes on hold we gave up. No way anyone else needed that ADR anyway. But yeah, under the new system, it would have been really annoying to pay that $10 penalty. On the other hand, it is nice to be able to find good ADRs more easily.

That is a sad way to spend your last Disney day. I'm glad you were at least able to find your spare key and enjoy lunch... even if the rest of the day was a complete wash out.

I never thought we'd spend our last day sitting in the Baby Care Center for hours. Finding the spare key was great and we did have a nice lunch, but for the most part, it was just too rainy.

I usually don't mind a little Disney rain, either, but that rain was just too much. It felt more like something tropical than normal Disney rain.

Yikes. What a rotten day. The rain sounds just awful, even without key and Landon shoe issues. :headache: Hope the next stop brightens your day.

That was easily the worst weather we've ever encountered at Disney World. I hated that it had to happen on our last day, too. What is it with Landon's shoes at AK? :rotfl:

Nope, you've missed nothing. I've been very careful not to say anything that would give away the ending.

I thought maybe I missed something too!! I'm excited to hear!

No, I've dropped no hints about it. I thought it would be best to save it for the end.

Wouldn't that have been horrible, to try and find someone to come out and open our locked car in the rain? I'm glad I had a spare!

I agree, Little Mermaid did not need any sequels! I hate the directly to home video sequels that Disney kept making for awhile there.

It was too bad. I really wanted to make the most of it and still have a fun day, but the rain was just no fun. We were too wet and too cold.

I hated the rain that day! It was the worst rain we'd ever been out in at Disney. After awhile, it just wasn't worth it to stay out in that. Spending extra time sitting in the airport is about as sad as sitting around in the Baby Care Center. Definitely too much rain the last couple days.

Me, too!:)

So happy for you living in paradise! It's so nice to be done with a Master's Degree program, I can understand how proud of him you are. Although I am sad that you will retire from TR writing. I'll miss seeing the cuties. :(

I'm so happy for you! What a wonderful ending to the story. :goodvibes

I am pretty sad that I won't have your TRs to read anymore, but I totally understand. I've really enjoyed reading them, and I hope that your family makes many, many wonderful memories at Disney.

I hope that you'll still be around the Dis and occasionally share some photos of your beautiful family as they grow.

Enjoy paradise, I'm so glad that you finally feel at home.

What a happy ending indeed! I loved your TR! So glad you're loving your new life in Florida, how wonderful!

I totally get why you're taking a break, but I hope you'll still be on the DIS every now and then!

I will DEFINITELY say hi if I ever see you at Disney (and feel free to do the same for me)! Any chance you'll be there between July 29 and August 3? :rotfl:

Oh my gosh! You are living in Florida! I remember you saying you moved at some point, but I didn't realize it was to Florida! Living in Florida is just the best, I keep trying to convince DH that we need to move back when he is done with the military, but I don't know if he is buying it.

I'm also very happy that Jeremy is finished with his Masters degree! Congratulations to him! I'm sure you'll enjoy getting to spend more time together, school work is so time consuming!

I do have to say that I'm a little sorry to hear that your TR days have come to an end. I've really enjoying reading about your adventures, and getting new ideas for our trips from you! If you guys are going to be in the World any time between Sept 25th and Oct 2nd, we'd love to meet up! I'm sure the boys would have a great time together since they share so many favorite rides!

Oh Kate! How incredibly wonderful for you all!! I'm so happy to hear this, it was like the icing on the cake!! I hope you enjoy every single second of your life down there!

I, too, will be sad to miss out on your very obvious talent for storytelling, but I'm sure we'll see you again, some day :)

Congratulations to Jeremy for completing his masters, and I'm glad that your trip ended in your own personal paradise. It sounds like a lovely home! I'm glad to see that everyone has settled in there and seems to be very happy with the new surroundings.

I'm a little bit sad that you're taking a TR break, but I completely understand. I've gained a lot of tips and ideas from reading your TR's and I truly appreciate your writing, both from an informative standpoint and for it's entertainment value.

Florida is awesome! We live here too!
East coast or west coast?

I have really enjoyed your trip reports!

It's the circle of life on your trip reports. You just finish one and in 8 days you'll be back and can start a new one. :thumbsup2

Congratulations on your new home, Jeremy finishing school and the new job. It does seem like everything is just falling into place as it should.

I've really enjoyed reading along. Thanks so much for sharing your story with us.

What a sweet ending. Close enough for day trips, yet far enough to stay on-site is perfection, IMO. Glad you're enjoying your new home and hope you have many more fun adventures at WDW. I am a little sad to see there won't be more TRs about those adorable boys, but I can understand. Losing that naptime changes your whole world! Congrats to Jeremy and all of you. Have a great "adults only" visit to AKL! :thumbsup2

I just read the worst ending to a vacation and the BEST! Congratulations!!!! I did NOT see that one coming!!! We have toyed with the idea of moving to a beach community in Florida as well, but it would have to be walkable - and that always seems to be the problem in Florida.

I'm sorry to hear the last day of your trip was less than ideal, but thrilled for you that you have found HOME. I do hope to see you around the boards, I will miss your TRs, but completely understand. I will say hello if I ever see you in the parks!!! :goodvibes

I have really enjoyed your trip report. Thank you for sharing it with us. Best of luck in your new hometown! :thumbsup2
