An Unforgettable Finish- Oct 2011 TR **Happily Ever After (Completed 5/3)

Just got all caught up.

I'm so sorry that you had to deal with the wet shoes and stroller day. That stinks. However, I'm always looking for an excuse to buy shoes so I probably wouldn't have minded much :lmao:

Yay for a successful fancy meal with toddlers! Too funny that Jeremy had to share his meal! We got one of the "kid's steaks" for Maddie this trip, and she too was unimpressed. She loved mine though.

I was so relieved that you were able to retrieve Tigger, but then I read about Pluto. So sad.

Mommy saves the day!!!! Henry is the same way with wording is everything, glad you were able to think quickly on your feet, despite the situation, and calm everything down!

I usually still hear it, but instead of being annoyed, I'm just grateful it's not one of mine. :rotfl: I wish all restaurants would seat families with little kids in the same area!

Me too! We are always relieved when they seat us next to another family with little kids!

What a stressful ending to the day! I'm glad you made it to Norway before the rain, and good thinking to grab a FP.

I love those sweaters in Norway too, but at $300 a pop, they are a little too rich for my taste. I also like to joke that they are the same sweaters that opened with the pavillion in 1988, because I've never seen anyone buy one. :rotfl:

Too bad Kidcot was mobbed! I've never taken Everett over to one because I'm afraid he'll get sharpie all over his clothes. I still don't understand why they'd use permanent markers at a kid craft area. :confused3

Glad you guys didn't get struck by lightning! I don't worry too much inside of Disney, because they have strategically placed lightning rods so that no guests could get struck, but the state of Florida is #1 in the country for lightning strikes!

Oh my gosh, poor Pluto! I'm sorry he was lost, but quick thinking on your part to appease Carter. Did you ever end up finding him?

I also wanted to add, I can't believe your adults only trip is less than two weeks away! Are you planning on writing a TR? I hope so! :goodvibes

Oh man! That rain was something that day!

At least you were able to entertain the boys with the balloons for a while.

I don't like lightning one bit either! Especially when you're in such a wide open space.

Great thinking about the missing Pluto! :thumbsup2 You're right - wording can be everything when it comes to a little one.

Hope that was the last of the rain!

Not more rain! :( Nice that you found a little spot in Norway!

OH NO! Poor Carter and Pluto! I love that Pluto 'went to work with Daddy.' How adorable.

I love the way Landon eats. Good for him for being such a foodie at such a young age:goodvibes

Thank goodness Tigger was able to be retrieved. Hopefully you were able to find a replacement Pluto quickly.

Sad to see that after such a nice meal you had to end the night with a storm. :worried: I never thought about hiding out in Norway to avoid the rain, but it sounds like it worked well with you. Plus, getting the opportunity to ride Maelstorm must've worked wonders on taking your mind off the situation.

I don't blame you for not being too melancholy over leaving Epcot. After all, you had just had to race lightning, run through the rain, and had to do some quick thinking to deal with a lost Pluto....

Ugh, the rain that night was awful! Glad you were able to hide out in Norway for a while, I can spend a lot of time there too, I love the shops there! :thumbsup2

Aww, poor Carter and dropping Pluto! :goodvibes At least he was ok thinking Pluto went to work with Daddy!

Poor Carter losing Pluto.... Looks like you made the best of the night that you could.... I don't think it is just a motherhood thing with the lightning. It has scared me since I was a kid.

Oh no! Poor Pluto!! I loved that you said he went to work. :thumbsup2 Blake is attached to his Eeyore the same way Landon is with his Tigger. (Minus taking him everywhere - My rule) That crazy Eeyore has twice taken a trip to WDW without us when silly mommy forgot to put him in the wash. Isn't being a mom fun? Glad it worked! Carter is so sweet.

That rain was terrible for you, but it sounds like you managed alright. Maybe I'm crazy, but I love the lightning! Glad you made it out alive!

I know you've had a lot going on lately! :goodvibes

I will admit that I didn't really mind getting to buy some new shoes. Shopping is always fun and it's even better at Disney.

I was nervous going in to it, but the boys did really well that night. I was lucky that Carter was my dinner buddy that time! That's interesting...I wonder if the kid steaks really are pretty bad. We'll have to figure on sharing our food at Le Cellier for awhile.

It was a bad day for losing toys! As long as we didn't lose Tigger, it was okay, though. Plutos are easy to find.

Mommy saves the day!!!! Henry is the same way with wording is everything, glad you were able to think quickly on your feet, despite the situation, and calm everything down!

When I do find the right wording, it's wonderful. There are times when I can't seem to get the words right, but I was glad it worked that night. No way were we going all the way back through the park in the rain!

That's one of the things I love about Disney World- at any given time, there's probably another kid being just as loud as mine are. :rotfl:

I thought Norway would be the best place to wait out the rain, but by the end, I was starting to get awfully tired of it! The Maelstrom was fun, though.

That's funny, they could be the same exact sweaters from the eighties! I've never seen anyone buy one either. Somehow, I bet a really thick, warm and expensive sweater is a hard sell at Disney World. :rotfl:

I can't understand why they'd use Sharpies at Kidcot. My boys would get Sharpie all over themselves and their clothes. I wish they had crayons there instead, but maybe crayons break too easily and look old too quickly. I don't know. Seems like there must be something better than Sharpies.

I've heard that there are lightning rods inside of Disney World, too and that made perfect sense, until I had my boys out in the storm. Then I had to wonder whether or not lightning rods were really there or if that's just something they want you to think. :scared1:

I couldn't believe Pluto got lost that night, but I was glad I was able to explain it in such a way that Carter wasn't too upset. We never found that Pluto, but we have plenty of other Plutos.

I can do online check in tomorrow!! That always seems like such a huge milestone in waiting for Disney trips. I'm not planning on doing a TR for this one. It'll be a really short trip and we'll want to live in the moment and not take pictures all the time. Besides, what happens at AKL, stays at AKL.

Hope that was the last of the rain!

I hated how much it rained that day! If it just could have held off another couple days, we would have had perfect weather the whole trip.

They love balloons. I don't know what it is, but give them two balloons and they're happy.

I think walking around the World Showcase Lagoon was the worst part. Being right by the water and seeing the lightning was bad.

Thanks! I tried telling Carter once that cookies went to work, but he didn't buy that one. :rotfl:

If only it was...

Girl, you are fast on your feet to think of saying Pluto went to work. Amazing how if we come up with just the right thing sometimes we can avoid a major melt-down with our little ones! My little on isn't so little any more but I sure remember those days... sigh.... I miss those days.... sigh.... Now I have teenage angst instead..... sigh.... Did I say I miss those days?

OH NO! Poor Carter and Pluto! I love that Pluto 'went to work with Daddy.' How adorable.

I really had thought that it had rained enough that day, but I guess not. Norway wasn't too bad of a place to wait it out.

Carter seems to have the hardest time holding on to his toys! I was really glad that Pluto going to work with Daddy made it easier for him.

I love the way Landon eats. Good for him for being such a foodie at such a young age:goodvibes

Thank goodness Tigger was able to be retrieved. Hopefully you were able to find a replacement Pluto quickly.

I love how Landon eats, too. I've always wanted to have good who are good eaters and Landon really loves good food.

It would have been terrible if we had lost Tigger! Pluto wasn't too hard to replace, though. We go through a lot of those little play sets from Disney Store.

Sad to see that after such a nice meal you had to end the night with a storm. :worried: I never thought about hiding out in Norway to avoid the rain, but it sounds like it worked well with you. I hated to see how the sky looked after our dinner. It wasn't at all what I had in mind for our last night there, but Norway was a pretty good choice. All the pavilions were crowded, but it was nice to be right there by the Maelstrom. I'm glad we got to ride it.

We've never had a last night of a trip be at Epcot before, so I suppose it would have been sad, if it wasn't for the storm and the lost Pluto. I think I might prefer ending with Magic Kingdom though.

The rain was horrible that night! It just kept raining and raining. On our last night, too. Norway ended up being a good choice. I love shopping there and the Maelstrom is always fun, too.

I was sorry for him, losing his Pluto, but I did feel that he could have picked a better time for it. Any other night, we probably would have backtracked through the park to find it for him.

Poor Carter losing Pluto.... Looks like you made the best of the night that you could.... I don't think it is just a motherhood thing with the lightning. It has scared me since I was a kid.

I wish he hadn't lost his Pluto, but he was pretty brave after we told him Pluto went to work. It was a hard night to salvage, but we did the best we could with it. See, that's the thing, I've never been scared of lightning before I had my kids. I'd walk through thunderstorms at Disney World and think nothing of it, but with the kids there, it seemed scarier.

Oh no! Poor Pluto!! I loved that you said he went to work. :thumbsup2 Blake is attached to his Eeyore the same way Landon is with his Tigger. The not taking Eeyore everywhere is an excellent rule! I've thought many times about making Tigger stay home, but I don't have the heart to do it. You can sort of tell by the way Landon plays with Tigger that in Landon's eyes, Tigger is fully alive and his best friend in the world. Tigger actually needs to go in the wash, too, but I haven't found time yet. Perhaps Tigger will go to Disney World without us soon. :rotfl:

I hated that rain, but it all ended up being okay. It would have been better without the rain, but at least we did make it out alive!

I was glad Carter bought the going to work explanation! I'm always telling him Daddy has to go to work and he knows people who go to work come back eventually. It's still working for him, too. He recently left his Phineas at a fish camp restaurant we have here, so now Phineas went to work at the fish camp. Teenage angst doesn't sound fun at all...maybe my boys can skip that stage? :rotfl:

We paused at the end of Main Street and looked back toward the Castle.

It was too soon. I didn't want to leave this place and I didn't want to know that my vacation was ending. But it was.

This was silly really. I still had a whole night at Epcot. I still had a day at Animal Kingdom tomorrow. The trip was far from over. We still had time.
I love those pictures. I don't know what it is about them, but the castle just looks so surreal in the background framed by the halloween decorations. Maybe I just need to get there sometime to see the fall version of MK.

I know exactly what you mean about leaving that park. We went through the same hesitation, even though we had another day left for other parks.

We were seated in an area that seemed to have a fair amount of other little kids there, which made me feel a little better. I was hoping we wouldn't be horribly disturbing to everyone else. If things did go wrong, other parents would be more understanding.
I guess it proves my theory right. They really do put all the kids in the same area at Le Cellier. :rotfl2::lmao:

I'm glad you had a good meal there, with Landon and Carter behaving for the most part. I completely agree with Jeremy though, the portion size leaves something to be desired... especially with that kind of a price tag.

I'm sorry the rain and lightning ruined the remainder of the afternoon. I hope Pluto makes it back home from work soon. :lmao:

I love those pictures, too. The Castle looks so beautiful and the fall decorations are great. I like how some people are dressed for MNSSHP, too. You definitely should check out Disney at fall sometime. It's hard to skip Christmas at Disney though.

I think next time, we'll try to always end at MK. We'll feel sad leaving that park at the end of the trip only.

Yes, I think you're right about that. When I read that part of your TR, I remember thinking it was interesting that it seemed to be the policy and not just a lucky coincidence. I wish all restaurants did that!

Carter and Landon did do really well that night, considering how nice of a restaurant it was and how tired they were. I think Landon could have eaten a whole plate of mushroom risotto! I wonder if we could get him a side of that next time...

It would have been nice if it hadn't have rained our last night, but I guess we were lucky with the great weather the rest of the trip. Pluto actually did come home from work soon.

You're such a good writer! I felt like I was really experiencing that terrible morning right along with you! Thank goodness you had the spare key in that bag.

I also have a husband who volunteers for the really bad tasks. I should probably thank him for that more often.

I'm intrigued as to what's coming next. Are you moving to Orlando? What's happening? I can't wait to find out!

LOVE the update!...so sad for a rainy, cold end to your trip. You do tell it all so well though and as we all know, Disney trips cant be sunshine and rainbows all the time!:)

Thank goodness you found that key!:thumbsup2

Cant wait till the next installment...no more goodbyes??....Hmmm...DVC?

when is your next trip with the munchkins going to be?
