An observation about grapes

Let me preface this by saying I am not bashing any resort. I have stayed at Pop and loved it, and we are planning on trying AoA next year. However, this year we stayed 12 nights at the Poly. My kids love grapes and we got lots of them with the numerous kids meals we ordered at Capt Cooks. We also got them from various CS locations in the parks and other resorts. The grapes we got at the other deluxe resorts and in the parks were great. No soggy, squishy grapes at all. However, the day we visited Pop and AoA I got a kids meal at each food court and with both meals received bags of grapes that we had to throw out because they were all mushy and gross. This is not an isolated incident either. When we stayed at Pop we encountered the same thing so DS stopped getting them with his meals. Isn't this weird? Shouldn't resorts that serve many more kids meals have fresher stock on hand? :confused3

I agree on that...
We stayed at a Value also in May and the grapes were hit or miss....I sometimes would open the grandkids grapes and they were disgusting...and then some were great...depended on how many were packed on top of these I guess...Speak up when you see the grapes...and bring them back to the counter...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who has noticed this. If the parks and deluxe resorts can have fresh grapes why can't everyone?

Sorry, they save the good stuff for the Deluxe Resorts and Villas. All the value folks have to wait till they turn into raisins.

Return them until they get it right, my guess people complain more frequetnly and more loudly at deluxes.

We got yucky grapes in the parks several times last year (Epcot and HS, MK's were okay). DD won't order them again. This year she is 9 and I am just going to let her get all adult meals...much better selection that way. In the past she has sometimes ordered a kids meal, and sometimes we would share an adult meal. That way I often ended up eating something that wasn't really my first, or second, or even third choice, LOL. This year it seemed best to just raise the food budget. :thumbsup2

I have to disagree with this. I have stayed at all levels of resorts and have seen just as many, if not more, people complaining at a value.
Now I am not saying that value resort goers complain more, just maybe because it was a bigger resort with more people. :confused3

Just a question - did you ask to have these replaced when you were there? Seems to me a "excuse me, but these grapes aren't really all that wonderful, can I get something else or a refund please?" would have been much better than coming on here and complaining about it after your trip. If something on a meal is inedible, then request a substitution right then. It's not just at Disney World but anywhere. Husband just had a burger at Chili's and requested no mayo (he hates it). Came out with mayo. Sent it right back. Simple, easy and no hassles.

I'm not complaining. I am merely posting my observation and asking if other have noticed this. Surprisingly enough, I am not the only one who has experienced it.

Looks like I found the sour grape in this bunch- pun intended.

I only ordered one kid's meal at the Contemporary while there a couple years ago. The grapes were past their prime. Not bad enough that I would waste the food, request a replacement, or request a refund. Everything is not at the absolute peak of freshness every moment at home, either. If the grapes had been moldy, I would have spoken up, however.

It was great when they used to give an actual bunch of fresh grapes, rather than the bagged grapes they give now. DD used to often get double grapes back then, instead of two different sides. :)

We just returned yesterday from a week in Disney. We got grapes numerous times both in the parks and at the hotels and never had a problem. I don't think your experience was typical. And if you do ever get a bad pack (not just one squishy grape but a bad pack), by all means go back up and have them replace it.

Pretty sure this is a complete coincidence. There is no difference between the grapes distributed to the different resort levels and parks. It might be a management issue, if anything.

we always got mushy grapes at the parks ~ so gross and so disappointing to have to throw out the one healthy thing on my kids plate! We stayed at the Poly, but the few times we ate counter service I didn't pick grapes b/c I was worried they would be gross there, too.

We've only been twice -- stayed at Pop both times -- and are a grape family, too. Our last trip, I was able to get grapes instead of dessert at a lot of places and then got grapes at the resort, too. I didn't notice any difference in the quality of any of the grapes. That was Oct. 2010. I hope it's not changed and we get crummy grapes in November!!! :(

Haha funny pun!!:thumbsup2

I don't like any dessert at counter service. Especially the cantaloupe and grapes. The cantaloupe is never ripe always hard. The only thing that is ever good is the apples.

My kids love grapes, and we've gotten our share of nice, fresh pkgs and our share of icky ones. If we come across an icky pack, we most certainly do exchange it for a hopefully better pack. Same goes with the carrots...we've gotten a few packs where they are white and dried out and have exchanged them out. We've never had a problem doing that. Sometimes we take the pkgs back to our room for the frig, but then we're out of luck and toss them if they're no good.

Speaking of grapes, shhh....Islands of Adventure and Universal sell nice sized bags of small bunches of grapes on ice at some of their carts. They are so fresh and amazing! I wish Disney would catch onto that one. I know they have fresh produce stands in the parks but have never seen the grapes like that.
