An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

I have a question for you guys.

I have read on another board that Labor Day week may be a bit more crowded than usual because of a couple of Jewish Holidays that fall that week?

Perhaps some schools are out at the end of that week creating a good week where the kids would only have to miss 1 or 2 days of school?

Evidently this happens every 5 years or so and there are several folks planning trips because of Free Dining and the holidays. Can any of you guys up north confirm that? I know it affects New York City Schools and New York area schools.

I know it would not change our plans - but I went last year over Labor Day and I think I would benefit from a realistic picture, I guess. :confused3

I agree with Tim on some of the Pop suggestions.

For sure at night, take a walk around the lake and the Generation Gap Bridge. If not at night, early in the morning.

Petals is always a good bet for some fun. Say hi to Dee and Audrey for me...

Hello friend! I've FINALLY found my way over here and when I saw how much I have to catch up on...well, frankly...

:faint:

(Really, is there anything better than a well-placed emoticon?)

With my starting of my two new PTRs (links in the siggie) and getting back into the swing of things with my TR with TK, I figured I needed to bulk up on my PTR reading. ::yes:: So here I am.

I'll let you know once I'm all caught up.

You know.

Eight years from now. ;)

One thing you need to let me know, though, since I'm not sure when/where I'll get to them in the catching up are your trip dates! I'm down there 9/19-9/26. Looks like you get in a little earlier than I do but I wasn't sure how long you were there for...

TTYS! *TINK*

:flower3:

Love the Pop and Poly paper! :thumbsup2

Let's see...some Pop and Poly things..

Pop:
You have to go to the generation bridge and take pics of the construction for the new Resort!!

Save some time to explore the memory boxes in the lobby. We spent quite some time looking at them!

A must you have to find for me: The Mickey telephone!!

Poly:
You have to try the Raspberry Rain drink at the Ohana bar!!

If you're a coffee drinker, you should try the pressed coffee pot like we got at Kona!

When you're going down the stairs in the Ceremonial House, go down the stairs that are NOT by Ohana. See if you can find the hidden Mickey to your right as you're going down. You have to think "outside the box" for this one!

Find out what time the Electrical Parade starts exactly and time it so you can see both that and Wishes from the beach!

OK, now I know how to upload pics!! Here's the first one of the autograph books I made.

DSC02496.jpg

Please excuse the messy table, I was still in the throws of making these things.

Up next is one side of Mackie's
there's Tink on one side and Ariel on the other. You gotta love a girl who loves both fairies and mermaids. :lovestruc

DSC02469-1.jpg

Their not very good pics, but you get the idea. Now you can see why I say I'm not the most crafty person. They aren't perfect but the kids are more than happy with them. :goodvibes
The scrap book (that's the name I couldn't think of last night Liesa ) that I bought has just plain card stock pages inside them (perfect for autographs), and outside was decorated with it's own paper of sorts, but we took scrap booking (Disney) decorative paper that Mackie liked and covered over them as best as possible with decoupaging glue. Then I went in with a paint that was as close to the colors we were using to cover up the area that didn't get covered with the decorative paper (near the spirals). Then.....

DSC02481-1.jpg

I took lots of different colored cut ribbon and covered the spirals!! :yay: Doesn't it look cute?!? I think I actually surprised myself with how cute it turned out. The next pic is Tyler's so you can see both sides of his.

DSC02472-1.jpg

DSC02494-1.jpg

I know this is dark, but all the one's I took with a flash made it look worse. This is at least finished, the pic of it laying down still needed for me to fill in around the spirals with black paint. I decided to paint the back side with black paint so I could decorate it too. :goodvibes Since I use decoupage glue over it I figured it wouldn't matter if I painted, no one would be able to tell.

OK so there they are! :) Wanna see our count down calendar?

Hi Maroo,

I live in Albany, NY and just checked the school calendar. School doesn't start until Wed 9/8 and then school is closed again on Thur 9/9 for Rosh Hashanah. So kids would only be missing 2 days of school the whole week. But hopefully most people won't want their children to miss the first day of school. Hope this info helps!

I forgot to show the finished product standing up for Mackie's book.

DSC02497.jpg

And here's the countdown calendar...

DSC02474.jpg

Here's some close up's of my favs. Well, they're all my favs, but I don't want to bore you.
I wonder if you can see my son doing his version of the "Blue Steel," in his It's Tough to be a Bug glasses. :rotfl: He's a nut I tell ya!

DSC02476.jpg

Do you see my Mr. Incredible back there making a silly face along with Mackenzie? My family cracks me up with the faces they make in pictures.
I told them if they give me a good pic first then they can be as silly as they want in the next picture. <crossing fingers it works>
By the way I got the idea for the count down calendar from Ladylalle (I hope I spelled her name right). I used the mickey head paint chips I heisted for the days to remove from the calendar. I think I started it around 100 days out.

Four more days!!!!

----

What do you mean you're not crafty??? Those are beautiful!!! :thumbsup2

I love them both! And I would not have thought of covering up the spirals with ribbon!! They really are great!!

Oooh, your so sweet!! I honestly surprised myself with how well they turned out. I just winged it and hoped for the best. :goodvibes

I love that picture on the carousel Camille! :rotfl2:

That's the "Mr. Incredible" one you're talking about, right?

Hi Liesa! Love the Poly and Pop sections!! Very pretty! I can't add any ideas though - I've only stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I am hoping to plan a trip to the Poly though soon - I've always wanted to stay there since I was little.

It was GREAT to talk to you today! You're so close, and I'm so excited for you!!!

It was great to talk with you too!! I miss talking with you on my late nights up, but it's been good to turn my schedule around. I know! Can you believe how fast it's coming now? I can't wait!!

I've decided to double a few of these up, as the resort sections, and following those, are pretty slim. In fact, I had a hard time coming up with 10 things to look for/do in my "Top 10" for each resort. I'm sure that can be remedied by all you experts out there!!!

Please let's give Minnie the enhancements she deserves by filling in the blanks to make sure she's a perfect 10 in all her sections. OK?

THANK YOU, CYNTHIA! for the following cover pages! (The flip sides were done by yours truly.)

The POP Cover:

The Top 10, which is sadly lacking volume:

The POLY Cover:

The POLY Top 10 (almost):

I love the fact, that in my meager supply of scrapbooking papers, I had just the right stuff for all the pages I needed!!! Isn't the POP paper groovy? and the POLY paper, tropically devine?? I just love the way they turned out!!

The paper was sooo perfect!! Way to go girl.

I thought these were great! I think the ideas given here are wonderful ideas to add in. Especially checking out the shadow boxes in the POP building near the front desks. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised about the POP. It's a nice place, a lot more fun than I thought it would be and not the value I thought I was going to get. (that's a good thing)

Love the POP & Poly sections!

At POP.....

1) OK at POP you NEED to play twister! Even if you are the one spinning the 'spinner' for a family so they can play.

Oooh good one!!

2)What about putting a stop at Petals on there?

Great idea. I think this will end up being the place a lot of us will hang out at night when we go on the Peeps Fest tour. :thumbsup2

3) Late night swim?

4)Find Mr. & Mrs. Potato head... you bringing TOP with you on this trip? Maybe he should meet his mommy & daddy! :lmao::lmao:

This is your best idea yet Tim! Why didn't we think of this Liesa?!?

5) Take a walk on the generation gap bridge and get a picture of the building that is going to be destroyed soon. Who knows it might already be by the time you get there. :confused3

I don't believe these buildings will be destroyed from the way the article was written. I think they will salvage the buildings already there and then add on. I guess we'll find out for sure as time goes on. Liesa can take pics while she's there and then we'll know!!

At Poly....

1) In the evening when you are decked out, get a PP pic in the lobby.

2) Take a spin on a searaycer?

3) Eat TONGA TOAST!!!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2: I love banana's and I won't even do this, doesn't sound appealing, and with the way banana's retain their heat I'd end up scalding my mouth eating it I'm sure. Although I have been known to try just about anything off someone else's plate. He he.

4) Catch the Electric Water Pageant?

5) Relax in the Poly hottub?:laughing: :lmao::lmao: ( I crack myself up!)

OK spill, why is this so funny? :confused3

Eat tonga toast!

Eat tonga toast!

1sm286bananasplit.gif

I love that picture on the carousel Camille! :rotfl2:

That's the "Mr. Incredible" one you're talking about, right?

Yes it is!! My DH is a total goof.

I have to hold my nose when I make banana bread for my husband and oldest son or make Mark "smoosh" the bananas.

My abhorrance isn't quite that drastic, but I CAN tell, there will be plenty of Tonga Toast leftover at Kona. I WON"T be eating any. However, I cannot say the same for those heavenly sounding Macadamia/Pineapple Pancakes! MMMMMMMmm.... I wonder... How much would they charge me for an extra little carraffe of that strawberry puke (as Cherie refers to it?) I think its sounds great!

I was thinking the same thing. I had really been looking forward to the legendary years. I always feel such a draw to the 40's myself. Double Boo!

I do too. I think a lot of Americans do, and I"m not sure why. Maybe something to do with the last time we REALLY pulled together as a people- and they felt good?? :confused3 Honestly the psychology of having a "romantic" view of a war era is odd. But it's not held by just us, I'm sure.

Not sure if it's already been mentioned but at the Poly you gotta learn how to hula dance! And I know everyone has said this but....

EAT TONGA TOAST! :cheer2:

NOW THAT would be a fun photo shoot!! I could really show you all my moves. :lmao: Does anyone know if they post the resorts "newspaper" anywhere- like up to date ones?? Tikiman Steve's pages perhaps?? Christine!! This one is for you... :worship:

HOLY 2nd cup of coffee- there's been an overnight explosion on the thread!!!!

Working on tweaking as I type!!!! Excellent suggestion!

Maybe I've stayed in too many resorts?? Oh, what a terrible thing!:rotfl2:

If U Had Wings (every time I see your post that song never leaves me all day...but I like it!)

Thank you for offering to post pics - we've stayed at nearly every resort, summer and December - it's more finding one I'll enjoy with the holiday decorations and which has an HC room available to be blocked, Best is probably for me to call special needs again this afternoon and find out what exactly is available and go from there.

You all are the BEST!!!:flower3::hug:

Yeah, that's a tough dillemma, Christine!! Ha!! I'd like to say I've even stayed at ONE! :lmao: The Fort twice hardly counts! :rotfl2: but, if I was in your shoes, I'd really say, as per Magdelena's advice, I'd go with AKL. Decorated well, upbeat. GREAT restaurants, AND deluxe.

Sooooooooooooooo... what'd you get when you called? Having to get HC really does throw a wrench into the plans.

I know it would not change our plans - but I went last year over Labor Day and I think I would benefit from a realistic picture, I guess. :confused3

PHew!! You have NO idea how glad I am to hear that! :rolleyes1:lmao:

By the way, our family celebrated Rosh Hoshana last year, and it was VERY meaningful and gave some amazing insights into why God instituted it. It was a really sweet family time- want more info, PM me.

Anyway, I always sort of figured our trip would be busy-ish until after our first Monday. But Ive gone spring break last 2 times, and still got everything done I wanted to (except EPCOT, but that's another story)- planning makes a world of difference.

I agree with Tim on some of the Pop suggestions.

For sure at night, take a walk around the lake and the Generation Gap Bridge. If not at night, early in the morning.

Petals is always a good bet for some fun. Say hi to Dee and Audrey for me...

Late at night is more likely going to happen than early AM. I'll be sure to say to the Petals gang for you. ;)

Hello friend! I've FINALLY found my way over here and when I saw how much I have to catch up on...well, frankly...

:flower3:

:faint:

A LEGEND has made an appearance!!! :worship::worship:

I can't believe how excited I am you have come to hang out with us!!!

:welcome:!!!!!! I seriously mean that!!

OK, let's see the Cliff Notes version of the inside jokes to get you up to speed. I don't eat bananas, maroo wont' eat tofu. THere's no farting allowed in our room, but everywhere else is fair game. I don't usually use deodorant, (but now it's summer, Glenn, I'll wear it more now! :lmao:) I've started running, but apparently, that doesn't do squat for arm flab, and I live in freakin' nowhere where my sewer never works.

What'd I miss, Everyone? :lmao::rotfl2::lmao:

Anyway, Tink, I'm so glad you're here! We have a lot of fun, and can be an edgy bunch. Hope you join in often. :goodvibes

Love the Pop and Poly paper! :thumbsup2

I think I have everything you mentioned on my new and much improved lists!!! I got some really great suggestions!! I think I have that HM at the Poly from our last trip, when we went over there. The one in the bamboo wall decoration??

And becuase of you the Raspberry Rain made the short list of drinks from the Tambu! ;) You'll see it on my official itinerary. As is the EWP- that's on Day like 6 or so.

I can certainly get a Mickey Phone for you!! Not a problem. :goodvibes

Thanks for letting us know, Tracy!!! I think this helps us know what to expect more. :goodvibes

Oooh, your so sweet!! I honestly surprised myself with how well they turned out. I just winged it and hoped for the best. :goodvibes

They did turn out SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO well!! I really, really like them a lot!

I just asked Bek if she thought Andrew would want one (he's 19) if he was going, and she and I both think he would, so no worries on your son wanting one too. I think even the big boys know it's ok to be a kid at Disney, right guys?? You really are VERY creative AND crafty. The ribbon adds such a fun flair to it!

LOVE your countdown calendar. I may put one up too, but will have to suffer the wrath of Mr. Grinch, AND I'd have to move it, and I'll be galavanting around the skies and Germany for part of it. I just don't think it's practical for me. But I have one in my heart, (ummm... it's been going for like 15 months now...!) and that's ok.

Hi Liesa! Love the Poly and Pop sections!! Very pretty! I can't add any ideas though - I've only stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge. I am hoping to plan a trip to the Poly though soon - I've always wanted to stay there since I was little.

That's my next resort I want to stay at. I can't wait to complete the AK Trifecta and just drop jaw at the sight of the Lobby!!

It was great to talk with you too!! I miss talking with you on my late nights up, but it's been good to turn my schedule around. I know! Can you believe how fast it's coming now? I can't wait!!

OK spill, why is this so funny? :confused3

1) Yes, it's always fun to chat with a friend! I"m glad you got your sleep thing worked out! But yeah, it means less yacking- which means I actually something done. :lmao::lmao:

2) My mommy sent me the paper- she's so sweet!

3) I had bringing Tate (duh!!!!- remember if you want to send your outfit for him, you need to get an address, right?- PM me) but to meet the REALLY big one at DTD. I had forgotten they are at POP too. :rolleyes1 AND on TSM. Sheeesh, Tate has lots of Mommies and Daddy's- no wonder he's all confused. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

4) It's funny becuase the POLY, if you can believe it, had NO jacuzzi!!! :scared1:

If you're interested in how the ex-Soviet Union celebrates VE Day, I just updated my blog from the May 9th Festivities. The girls did a pretty good job at getting some good photos of marching guys. ;)

Just click on the mangy camel in my siggie.

They did turn out SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO well!! I really, really like them a lot!

Thank you.

I was so surprised when I asked and he embarassingly shook his head yes to wanting one. I surprised and excited at the same time, I couldn't believe he still wanted to be apart of things from the "kids" perspective. :cloud9: Makes a mom's dream come true....especially since he's graduating in a couple of weeks. :sad1:
The ribbons are way over the top! :rotfl: But hey, it's a little girls book for character autographs in WDW. It's what she wanted and hopefully it's something she will treasure and remember for a long time to come. :goodvibes

Thank you, it was fun to go through all our pics from our previous trip and pick out the one's that brought back so many wonderful and fun memories. I then bought a 36X24 poster frame at Wally World and then put them in according to what would fit around the two main pics in the middle. They're the one's under numbers 1 and 2, one's in front of the hat in MGM on our first day and first park and then all of us infront of the castle before the park was open. We had ADR's for Crystal Palace on our third day in WDW and first day in MK. :cloud9: You can't get those days back again, but I'm hoping to make new memories that will be just as special. :lovestruc The reason for the funny angle of the count down calendar was due to it being in a hallway.

That's my next resort I want to stay at. I can't wait to complete the AK Trifecta and just drop jaw at the sight of the Lobby!!

You will truly jaw drop when you walk in. I had seen it on t.v. before and I still was gobsmacked when I walked in and finally saw it in person. It's just beyond beautiful, take advantage of your wait for BOMAS once you check in and walk around to take in as much as you can. :goodvibes
