An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

Checking in, reading along, cracking up.

Flab? Seriously? I've got more flab in one chin my friend.

Apple slicers are nifty. I don't know the origins of ours as it was a gift, but it is nice to have.

Running and breathing have always been mutually exclusive for me so I avoid the former in preference of the latter. Which I suppose lends itself to the existence of multiple chinage

Hope your book inventory goes well. Why am I suddenly hearing the librarian song from The Music Man playing in my head?

You're pretty funny! But, if we have to compare, I will find a "better" picture, that shows just enough cottage cheese to prove my point. It will be ugly, but you are forcing me to go to great leg-nths to press my case.

I got my apple/corer/peeler/slicer at the Goodwill for $3 about 10 years ago. Works great!! I use(d) it every year to make 50 pints of sauce to put up. Not to undersell you, Glennbo, but I always look for the bargain first. ;)

Yeah, too bad we have to breathe. One of those inconvenient truths. Al Gore would be happy.

Just call me Marion. ;)

Liesa, I seriously don't know what flab you are talking about!!

Don't make me do it!

Hey Liesa! Hope you've been having a good week , sounds like its been busy. I've got a lot to catch up on around here!

Congrats on finishing week 2 of C25k! I still haven't started it. In fact, I haven't been able to work out at all this week because my asthma's been flaring up. This seems to happen every time I get into a groove with a new workout. A month or two into it, I'll have a flareup that will set me back to page one.:confused3

I'm going to try to get an update done on my ptr later tonight. We'll see if I have any readers left;)

It's has been. But heres' something fun... once these books are done, about 1/3 of my work of clearing out the "stuff" will be done. Believe it or not, we only came with excess baggage our first trip over. We never shipped a container or anything like that and it costs a lot of money to send stuff to us- so no one really ever did, except at Christmas. And when my mom did send stuff, she sent mostly food items like vanilla and taco seasoning. Everything else we have except some of our "souvenir" like stuff we'll sell here locally and not have to ship to the Big City for ex-pats to buy. Did I tell you, that I found ONE BUYER for ALL my books?? A family in a city twice as close to The Big City wants them and the people who are living in their house while they are on furlough wil even be up here this weekend for something. They can even help me get them on a bus for transport!!!! I am thrilled!!! I think our library will fetch around $500!! Not including the homeschool curriculum I have.

SOOOOO behind and I see you started a GAME while I was gone.

harupmph!

:rotfl:

No flab that I can see either but I know how you feel. I think between the neck injury, then the new job and the vacation I've gained 10 pounds or at least it feels that way. I think I need to diet just so I can gorge myself again in august.

Or not but back to the gym I must go

sorta caught up. Not really.

I'm glad someone understands that even though there's not a lot there, what IS there is way to bread dough like. Soft is one thing. Jiggly is quite another!

Welcome back!!! We've totally missed you ya know!! Can't wait to hear what you gorged on THIS time around. ha! just about the time you feel gastronomically recoved from April, you'll be heading off to do it all over again in August!! :lmao:

Take your time; it's mostly asparagus talk. ;)

I can't remember if we've talked about this before, but my little sister is actually a surgical nurse. She loves it, except for the whole stroking the surgeons' egos part.

My dad was an anesthesiologist- he used to complain about that too- the "office politics" used to really piss him off!!! It also provided for some very funny stories too. I should get antoher one to share.

Yay! For MNSSHP and my prize! ;)

Well, as soon as they changed them, they changed them right back again. No one knows what's going on!

The whole family was weird. They didn't want to order anything that was on the menu and wanted to change everything to make it "less African". What's the point of going to Jiko if you don't want to try something new? :confused3 Save your money and go to Sizzler or Ponderosa :rolleyes1

Weird+Crabby Kids+Picky tastes= Stay home or at least out of JIKO. :confused3

I know DH & I dressed up, and I can find the printed picture but not the image for some reason. He wore black pants and a button down shirt, and I wore a really cute faux wrap dress. I would say we were dressed similar to most other patrons there, except weirdo family above that was wearing jeans and shorts.

I'm guessing it's nice casual, right?? Not jeans, but not sequins either. ;)

And I agree with the others that your "before" picture looks better than a lot of people's "after" picture. There is no visible flab.

The baggy sweats are a girl's best friend.

So, speaking of C25K, I have been doing better with food choices and quantity this week and walked the dog two nights. Baby steps, right?

Hope you guys aren't too chatty tonight so I can catch up in the AM!

Yes, baby steps!!! Getting off the couch is the first step, and that's better than someone who doesnt' do that.

I love this place!! LIIT, Tom Collins, Freudian dreams, apple slicers, and imaginary flab! It's got everything! :lmao:

I've been tired this week - don't think I can stay up much longer. Hope your book inventory is finished.

Hey Tracy- Welcome to the nutbin!!

I have been too. I think things are actually beginning to get a bit stressful for me. From here on out, it's going to get more and more crazy, and my stress always shows up in my sleep. :sad2:

Nope, not finished typing it up yet, but almost. :woohoo:

I have seen the NAIL!!!!!:snooty:

So... where is it??

I thought it means paying right now or on the spot for something. So, is the "nail" the spot something was paid for? do tell. Is it like the Greenwich line?? Sorta "there".

Liesa..I just posted an update!!

Ok, coming over!!!

So umm how was your night?

It has been overly quiet the last few days. I have all my pics ready for my update.. which will be mostly pics this time. Dave sent me a DVD with all the pics he took. Now I have over 3000 pictures from this trip. Don't worry.. I won't post them all in the TR. :sad2: ;)

Cynthia- Hope you had a wonderful trip. :)

Lousy! I hardly slept at all, and I imagine it's only going to get worse as my stress levels increase as we get nearer to leaving.

3,000??? That's a veritible crapper load!!! See? I can't deal with that many; I'd be obsessive about having to scrapbook them ALL!! Nevertheless, I'll bet I come home with nearly as many. :rolleyes1

I HAVE to tell you a story that cracked me up with some full-on belly laughing!!!

I have twin sisters. They are younger by 2 and a half years than me, and each have kids. One of them, in fact, has the most adorable, no! drop dead gorgeous, little girls you have EVER seen. They have HUMONGOUS blue eyes with long lashes, peaches and cream skin, and white hair. They beg with their gargantuan doe eyes and pretty much get most of what they want. I'd post a picture, but my sis is pretty uncomfortable with the internet and such, so I won't.

Anyway, my one sis, with the cute little girls, went up to visit my other sis in Virginia last year. They don't get to see each other very often, but are very close just the same. Much more close than I am with either of them- which is sad, but the reality.

So, Chloe (daughter of my Bowling Green sister) was about 3, and really enjoying her visit with Auntie Nay-Nay (Rene) and her cousins. Now, I don't know about what it's like in your family but we aren't so weirded out by being undressed in the same room as our kids, and it was time for the morning routine; hair, showers, getting dressed, all that... Chloe was in the tub with her sister, and Auntie Nay-Nay was getting ready in there too. The splashing suddenly died down, and the giggling stopped...

The next thing Rene sees is Chloe staring at her with her great, big doe eyes with a look of great compassion and sadness, and says,

"It's ok, Auntie Nay-Nay. My mom has a big bum too."

And there ya have it- Looks can be deceiving, especially in the cute little girls department!

I was busting a gut; I think it's more funny because there was no malice whatsoever in her little heart- just a failed attempt at comforting the fat. :lmao:

That is too cute.. HAHA... I love kids. They say what's on their mind and what they are observing. Plus you can't get mad at them. I wish it was the same for what us husbands have to say. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

What have you said that you regretted the second it came out, Tim? :rotfl:

LOL Can Mel track me down on this thread?

I was just saying how us guys have to give the answers that you ladies want to hear sometimes. For instance.... do you like my new haircut? Do you like my hair color? Do you like this outfit? Do you think I look fat honey?

If you get one of these questions wrong it could get ugly quick. :lmao::lmao:

That's funny, mine has no problem with, 'You should really start working out." Which translates directly to, "You're looking pretty fat lately."

:confused3

I don't know.... I think it works both ways. Like, when we want to say, you have a long nose hair, we say, You look so great these days.

So true. As a woman, I apologize for asking such trick questions.

LOL thanks!!!! :worship:

By the time I see the hair, it can't be fixed.. so of course I say 'Ohhh I love it!'

Sometimes I don't even notice a difference. :confused3

Pretending not to notice (or worse, not noticing at all) is bad. Bad dog!

I"m actually thinking of going red. I've wanted to for a long time, not punk rocker shock red, but sorta golden red. I broached the subject last night in the car, and he turns to me and says, you should put some black streaks in it. He was serious! :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

After a comment like that, I figured he didn't mind if my hair turned into dog puke, so I'm going for the red.

That is hilarious! Reminds of last Sunday. We were having lunch with my grandparents & my grandfather was talking about being in the army during "The War.". After a while Tahli asked "Peepaw, were you in The Civil War?". :sad2:

As to things we husbands say that we'd rather we had not, I think this particular forum might make for a hostile jury.

Oh and Liesa, just remeber, we can always post photos back. I have yet to reveal a gratuitous and unclothed shot of my glorious big fat white hairy toe. What? Did y'all think I was going somewhere else? Pervs!

I guess I could post a shot of my battle scars from going 2 rounds with the oven the other day. I am able to smile about it a little bit now. I make supper for the girls and leave it for them to warm up each day before I go to work. (Today was Chili night BTW...which is why I'm the guestroom...and still up.) Anyway, I was trying a new recipe where you brown some cube steaks on the stove top, add some liquidy stuff and move the pan into the oven to bake a spell. (Supoosedly it makes them more like a roast and they warm up better.) I did some puttering around a bit, then went to shower and finish getting ready for work while the meat did its thing. I had only managed to cover my naughty parts when the timer went off so I strutted my manly shirtless self into the kitchen to remove the pan from the oven. As I was taking it out, I brushed the top of my knuckle against the top of the oven and wound up with a nifty little blister. In my irritation and need to ditch the pan quickly, I was not paying close enough attention and left the pan on top of the stove with the handle facing out. Once I had cooled my finger with some H20, I turned back to the stove and sizzled a 2 inch stripe across the middle of my tummy. Yeah, that really sucked. Which is why you should never saute topless.

Well, I guess I should try to get some shut eye. If my digestive track will allow it. Good night my friend!

Dang! I was still drinking coffee when I read this!! Please pass the Windex.

At first I read, "Salute topless"!!! And thought, wait a minute, that's not this thread that's a stripper bar- or Cherie's thread. :lmao:

Anyway, I was dying to know how bad your burns were the other day. Sounds like you'll survive, and they aren't too bad!

This reminds me I wanted to get a pic of my new pedi with the pretty decorations and the tragic mishap on my toenail. I'm praying with the faith of Peter that the horror of it grows out BEFORE my ride on the TTA!!!! :scared1:

Yes. My stomach resembles the dough boy right now. So much for getting my abs back. I did make it to zumba tonight so I guess that's something.

What's up with the asparagus anyway? Peeling? That's plain odd. Sliced on the diagonal, sauteed in some teriyaki and mmn I'm good to go.

Of course plain old steamed in the microwave, sauteed in butter with toasted almonds or on the grill with balsamic all work too!

Your niece is a riot! and precious to boot.

I'd never heard of peeling it either- but if it gives me more eats for my buck, then I should try it. :confused3 Terryaki goes on most anything! Salmon, for instance-- I'd practically die for some salmon (or ANY FISH!) right now!

I think getting abs back is a gigantic pipe dream- at least for me, since I'm really not willing to go to the collossal (sp?) efforts of an Olympic competitor to get them back. I'll stick with the "running" (that makes me sound ever so sporty! :lmao:) and hope it does something.

Good Morning, Good Night, Camille!!

I know the sleep need- go get some rest!!

I may have some very good news this week... ;)

Hope I'm not making you think I don't want to stay up and play, but I'm to tired to think right now.

I love what your niece said! :rotfl: Kids are so funny.....and honest!
And your not fat Liesa!! No matter what you say your not fat!

And I like the color of your hair in the pictures when you first met Maroo, if it's the same as now then leave it alone. A honey blonde looks very pretty and natural on you.

I'll share a quick praise from today and then I'm outta here!
Today I bought my new glasses, I'm one step away from bi-focals now. So, new glasses....right before a trip. :headache:

The place I get my eyes checked wanted to much money to replace my lenses for my sunglasses so I went back to the original place I bought the sunglasses from and asked them to replace the lenses. The sales girl said it would only be a difference of 56 dollars if I bought the new one's over just getting new lenses. Of course I bit hook line and sinker.
Actually this is a good idea since the older pair are two years old and all plastic, you never know when plastic is gonna give, besides I get to keep the pair I have so I can drive when it's sunny out while waiting to get new one's. Major bonus!!
As I was thinking it would be nice to have new updated lenses for the pair I already have, I asked her if she would tint the pair I have to be darker since some of the tint has faded. She agreed whole heartedly and went to do so, when she came back she started apologizing and saying the clear coat started peeling and that she would have to order new lenses for my old pair.... for free!! So now I have back up glasses with my new perscription!! Whew! taking breath now.

Sorry you got burned G.B., it's also a good idea to never fry bacon in the buff  just sayin is all.

K, love you guys!! Nite!
