An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

Love the update! :lovestruc

It has been awesome getting to know you. You are truly one of my best friends - remarkable since you live halfway across the world from me.

We were talking about you last night - Lauren and I - to her grandparents. They were so intrigued that Lauren would be friends with someone that I met over the "internet"...hard to explain...but Lauren helped me and I think they "get it!" They said to tell you that they admire the work you guys are doing overseas and truly appreciate your service and sacrifice your whole family has made (and continues to make).

I think trying to understand that a different culture is different on so many levels is really important. It is one of the things we try to teach our exchange students before they go abroad: living with a foreign family they really get to experience the other culture from within and therefore understand it much better than anyone watching it from the outside.

But I might be very western with my approach, some human rights are just too fundametal for me to make any long-term compromise.

I understand - that's what I would need in order to see the US Disney Shopping site. They can locate me as from Germany and I am always transferred to the UK site. :headache: Luckily, Disney Parks does not do that.

It takes a long time to go deep- even having been here for 9 years, we still only understand a fraction of what makes this culture up.

And yes! You are very, very right. There are some things that are, or should be, fundamental. Govts. all over the world are pouring money in by the billions to help these countries understand and develop in these areas of human rights- esp. women's issues. We know, because we actually use those monies for our projects. A donor from the World Bank funded our current project that focuses on teaching women about various health issues from nutrition and its role in anemia to high blood pressure, alcoholism, etc... wrapped up in that we try to help them understand that it's OK to ASK questions from those in authority about why things don't change. Awareness in one of the keys to change. We've had the Dutch govt. provide money, Hong Kong donors, the Japanese, and of course churches and individual donors as well.

Anyway, I could go on and on and on....

I just realized, that maybe I could download music again if I used my TOR thing. iTunes, Walmart, AND Amazon all blacklisted me from buying music.

And you one of mine. :goodvibes The internet was only the medium. We both know WHO facilitated it. ;)

I think a lot of people are suspicious until they actually meet someone in person or see with their own eyes how it works. Just like in real physical life, friendships don't just happen with everyone-- some you "click with" some you don't. Some you want to pursue more than others. :grouphug:

What's the deal? You get all sentimental on your thread, but come over to mine and talk about bean burritos (and the effects thereof). :)

I guess either one can make you tear up. ;)
:lmao: Somehow, that's where the converstations always seem to go!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

You may be one of the wittiest people i know.

I echo that!

You wax away.

Wax on. Wax off....

Clap on. Clap off.

Isn't funny what people pick up on. You write this beautiful update--full of your heartfelt emotions and all we pick up is the word wax and play off of that word.....;)

We really do love you Liesa and I consider myself lucky to be a part of your life.

We are pathetic.

But the playing off of that word...is filled with love.

Awww, thanks, Jordan. I know that- HA! If I didn't know that there'd have not been much to write in that last post! ;)

Just wanted to thank you all for sticking with me over the months of all this transition and having so much fun in the midst.

If it weren't for the funny, with a hearty mix of real life stuff swirled in, I'd have been oughtta here a long time ago. :goodvibes

It's a mutual stick society and a beautiful thing.

Warm fuzzies abound.

One thing we have to understand is that the West is based on law and order, the East is more based on relationship and who you have drunk tea with or eaten bread with. If the West understood that more, there'd probably be fewer conflicts. By the same token if the East followed Greco-Roman justice concepts, same would hold true. The road cuts both ways. Or however that saying goes.

Anyway, it's like a clean house. If you visit someone you don't notice if it's clean because that's the way it's supposed to be. But if it's dirty, you sure notice!!!

The blog comes up in German until I log in because I use a proxy system to get there. I really don't know how it works except that it's like a network of host sites, so it goes through (often) a German site to get there. That way no one from here sees my destination. GB can explain it better.

Very interesting....and the blog routing makes you sound like a spy. I"m picturing the illuminated board showing the mapping of your blog from your computer to actually being online. Too bad it can't get frequent flyer miles.

As long as it doesn't have to fly on your regional plane that gets commandeered by the super important fancy people!

So, are you loving me, by telling me I need to wax?? Seriously, I haven't shaved in about a month. Why bother?? It's cold, and I never leave the house, and since I have basically NO hair, it's just busy work.

I dont' know why I'm posting this... but I'll let you know when I get out my Mennen AND take care of my 10 leg hairs. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Yeah, it IS too bad. I'd be cranking up enough to fly to the moon and back by now. Since I know you know where I live, I can just on the sly tell you that we've actually seen a ton of rockets shoot over our house from not too far away; it's really cool!!! But we're always hoping they are in better shape than the aircraft.

Hmmmm... is this going to lead into the same direction as the deodorant discussion??? :rolleyes1:goodvibes

I have so enjoyed the twists and turns of your journey! I think your ability to laugh at situations is the only thing that has kept you sane! While I've laughed hysterically over some of the things you deal with there mostly I've felt more gratitude for where I live.

I have kissed my indoor plumbing many times after reading here.;)

Yeah, what's with that!?? :rotfl2:

Ah well.....

So, tell me one more time....

WHERE can I find those spicy cream cheese pretzels??
Scuttles Landing at the MK lists Cream Cheese Pretzels on All Ears. Not sure if they are spicy though. I was so bummed Min and Sid's quit selling them.

Kringla Bakeri og Cafe in Norway has sweet pretzels. Sommerfest in Germany has salted.

I found those jalepeno cream cheese pretzels in AK, at a stand back near Kali and one of those animal trails.

Thanks Glen! I went to All Ears to see if I could get more info. It's called (remarkably enough) Safari Pretzel. I guess all the clever names were gone.

It's been a great ride for us as well. Feel free to wax yourself anytime. Wait, that didn't...oh nevermind.

My guess is Colonlel Mustard, with the fanny pack, in the Canada Pavilion. Or was I supposed to wait until the end? I can never remember these things you know.

I think it is Mrs White in Club Cool with a glass of Beverley!!!!:rotfl2:

well since you've nothing to wax...nope.

lucky lucky girl is all I have to say about that.

There are other items in the genetical realm I wasn't so lucky with. Short eyelashes being one. :guilty: Mascara is my friend.

It's certainly been a twisty one with a few hair pin turns thrown in for good measure! I'll never take more than one choice of cheese for granted again!!

Don't kiss everything in your plumbing system. Even when I've eaten bad horsemeat I don't do that! :rotfl:

Nope, wouldn't touch either of those with a 10 ft. pole. Want spicy or nuttin'.

OK, near Kali near the animal trail....

... which is called Safari Pretzel- yeah, original. :sad2:

How about Savannah Snacks? or even something like "The Veranda"?

I think it is Mrs White in Club Cool with a glass of Beverley!!!!:rotfl2:

Hey Liesa :goodvibes

I think I'm out for the 2nd half of the game. With me being gone the past week, I'm way behind. Good luck to everyone!
