Sorry I wasn't around to do SBT yesterday. I forgot to mention on Friday that Dad was scheduled for a colonoscapy (sp?) and needed to have someone with him since her was going to be sedated for the procedure. Heaven forbid my sister, who lives with him, pays no rent and has no job should put herself out, so I took the day off yesterday to be with him. The procedure went smoothly and all is well. The nurses can't believe he's 83. Picture Dan Murphy (Dad's about his size) Now picture glo (I'm about her size) Now picture me trying to get Dad out of the car and into the house when his legs are like rubber from the sedation. It was pretty funny. So, I get him into his lounge chair and make him some lunch. (hot pastrami, his favorite) and not a sign of my sister. She doesn't come down to see how things went, or if he's ok and steam is now coming out of my ears. Anyway, I was remarking on how heatlthy he was for his age and said it was because Mom always took such good care of him. Since her death in Feb, of 2001 we have never spoken of her to each other. I think it was just always too paiful. He took my face in his hands and said, "Joe's a very lucky guy because you're so much like you're Mother." Of course I burst into tears as did he. We hugged and shared a very special moment. I called my sister when I got home and I won't go into the things I said but poor Joe came home from work to find me in a flood of tears. I will never, however, forget that special moment with my Dad. Thanks for listening, I needed to get it off my chest.

I wish I had that kind of relationship with my dad.

Now you've got me tearing up too, Kathy . . .

Thanks for sharing that story. I'm glad to hear everything went well yesterday. Sounds like you have a wonderful family (well, maybe all except one . . .  )

OMG I could have written your post. My Dad, 76, is a cancer patient and was they just recently found a "shadow" they need to biopsy. So guess who has to take time off . Change you sister to my brother and they could be twins.

He doesn't live with my parents - he mooches of his GF who is on SSI & veterans benefits but always seems to find his way home when he needs a cash. So oh boy can I empathize with you. And good for you never hurts them now & again to hear an earful.

Sounds like you have a great dad, who knows what a great daughter he has! {{{Hugs}}} to you for all that you do.

What a wonderful thing to hear. That is a precious moment you will never ever forget.

Glad to hear Dad came through it so well. :D

What a nice thing to share! You've made me cry too.... Touching story.

I hope your dad is doing fine.

What a sweet story. I'm so glad you shared it with us. You and your father are lucky to have each other :)

Very sweet story- glad you shared. Really glad everything went well with your Dad. :D

That is so sweet and something for you to always cherish!

I lost my dad 2 years ago he was only 59 years old. I loved my father to pieces, he was funny, opinionated and loud. I am told each and every day how much like my daddy I am. I don't think anyone realizes what a HUGE compliment they are giving me.

That was such a sweet and touching story you shared there :)

Pooh93, when you're done, please pass them my way.

Beauty, I know what you mean about your Dad. Although I still have my Dad (58), he's also a loud, outgoing (but lovable) guy!! I'm proud to be his daughter.

Kathy, this was really a lovely thing for you & your Dad. {{HUGS}}

(My Dad had a colonoscopy re-check on Friday, he too was "all clear"!) :)

Continued good health to all our Dads!! :smooth:

Cherish the time that you have with your dad. I lost my parents over 10 years ago and it is so wonderful to have those special moments as a memory.
