An almost-girly trip ~ February 2009 TR!

I don't know how I missed the last few updates.

I love the vintage pictures!! They are so cute. I really need to find some of our old family ones, the problem is back then my dad was having the film turned into slides instead of prints. So I need to bug him to dig them out.

I think limiting yourself on souvenir purchases is a good thing. I didn't do that last time and I had to buy another bag to bring home. Yep. I have a shopping problem. Right now I have my pins in a shadow box but I really want to get a corkboard for them instead. :thumbsup2

I've been doing the same thing that you have with the change! I have a cup in my car, a jar in my room, and one in Patrick's room (for when he leaves his change unattended!). I also have been saving $1 bills that come my way that have the letters "K" or "C" on them! They are my Disney dollars! I won some money earlier this month, so that pays off my car insurence so that I don't have to worry about it...if you get home and realize that there is a pin that you really wanted, but didn't get, let me know, we go shortly after you get back. Good luck with the saving!

As for the first dream, I have never been to Boston, so it had to be a different MeMom. :rotfl:

The second one - I've dreamed the same kind of thing. I wanted to get somewhere good or important or by a certain time, and there were all kinds of weird obstacles to doing that! I can totally picture the dream of looking out and discovering you were in the wrong place and having the strange/terrible feeling that something was just not right! I think I could keep a dream interpreter in business for quite a while.

In reality, in just a few weeks you are going to have a surreal feeling when you are standing in the sunshine and warmth waiting for a bus to take you on your first ride into a park. It's going to be a dream of a different kind, and it'll be a very nice one!

P.S. I predict that there will be no snow in this dream that is about to come real.

I know... I'm a pretty amazing future-teller, huh? :)

I hate those kinds of dreams, where it's something familiar, but totally different. I had a dream like that about my grandmother's house, right across the street, and it really freaked me out!

In class today, I was reminding myself of where I'd be in just a few short weeks!!! It was a little warmer today; I think it was in the low 40's, but it felt so much nicer than the single and teen temps with gusty winds. I'm so excited to find out what the 60's feel like. :rotfl:

I hope that your prediction is right ;) Can you predict no snow for the day that we leave?!

I don't know how I missed the last few updates.

Thanks! I'm hoping to post more at some point, like some from Universal. I just need to get the go-ahead from my mommy on those.

It's so easy to get carried away when you are down there! I KNEW that I had to set a limit, especially with the pins, because I can get carried away. I am thinking of carrying a little cash every day and keeping the rest of it, along with my debit and credit cards, locked in the safe. That way I won't get home and cry when I see my bank account. :rotfl2: I think that I need to set aside some money for the big Japan store alone.

Yay for paying off the car insurance! I love being able to do that. Each year, I put a good chunk of my tax rebate towards that, so that I only have a little bit left to pay off, and don't have to start worrying about it again for a few months. It's so nice to have one less thing to worry about.

That's a really good idea with the dollar bills; I never thought of that, but I'll probably start doing that to save for a later trip. And thanks soooo much for the offer about the pin, that's so nice of you! I saw your ticker but I didn't realize until just now that it's coming up so soon. You're going with Patrick, right?

I did a couple of little trip-related things yesterday that made it seem much closer. I called the place where I board Caesar to get that set up, and I called the vet to get him his kennel cough vaccine. Everything else, he had back in October, so I just need to get him that one yucky shot on Tuesday at 10 AM, and get a copy of his vaccines to give to the puppy camp.

This wasn't yesterday, it was last week, but it's still trip-related. I was checking out memory cards and a spare battery for my camera. My memory card is an xD card, aka a teeny-tiny memory card, and apparently only comes in 2 GB. My battery is one that came with the camera, and the camera came with a battery charger. I think that the memory card was around $30, and a spare battery wasn't much more. I'm thinking more along the lines of purchasing the spare battery, because last time, I brought my laptop with me and just dumped the pictures onto my laptop whenever we came back to the room for some downtime, or for the night, and freed up the space on the card. I think I'd get more out of having an extra battery. So, I need to get to Best Buy at some point and purchase that bad larry. :)

So this is my corkboard. It's kind of pathetic right now, and you can't really see my awesome Jack Skellington pin, but it's awesome. Be assured of its awesomeness. His little head even spins! I also had to stick my birthday button from last year on it.

I realized after I had already uploaded this to Facebook that it was one that I took a week ago. Oops. In your mind, subtract seven of those. The orange one, with the "19" on it, is where the countdown begins. As of tomorrow, January 23, WE'RE IN THE TEENS!

I had my first class of the semester today, and while I was looking through the syllabus, I noticed that on February 12, we have no class, because my professor will be out of town! I'm so excited that I won't end up missing class that day. So, it looks like I'll only miss that one day of my Monday night class, which falls on Kailyn's birthday. Sorry, won't be in class, gotta go to Chef Mickey's!

It's almost Friday by now, so have a fabulous Friday and a wonderful weekend!

Patrick and I are going, as well as his mom....My computer crashed on Sunday, so until I get it fixed (hopefully this weekend!) my Dis time is limited, but I am hoping to do a TR....

I'm glad that your one class is canceled! I'm only missing one class to go, and we are coming back on the 13th because it is my sister's birthday. I can't wait!

Quick question, how did u get the Mickey heads off of the paper? I need to make a countdown soon...I want to do it from 30 days out, and its coming up!

I can't believe how close you are!! How very exciting. I think setting limits is great, I will be doing that in May. :thumbsup2

Ugh, I'm sorry about your computer, especially when school started back up. So glad that you're doing a TR though! That's awesome!

Yup, I'll only end up missing one class so far. I'm SO glad, because both my classes only meet once a week, and I'd hate to miss something. The first thing I did when I got the syllabus was check the part that had the assignments.

What I did was just make a tear and peel off all the stuff around the little head. It's super easy to tear around it without actually tearing the head itself. Made them less flimsy. :thumbsup2

I know!! It's so close. :hyper: And I am going to continue to write notes to myself reminding myself of why I shouldn't spend too much on souvies. :rotfl2:

Great update. I can't believe we have less than 3 weeks! :cool1: How does your puppy do with being kenneled? We have someoune stay at our house to take care of ours. They would be so stressed otherwise. They are a bit high strung when we leave them for a hockey game:lmao: Getting excited to go. My nephew who lives in Orlando just had a baby boy( ok, he didn't, but his DFiance did:lmao: ) and sent us some pics. We are luck to not only going to see Mickey, but baby Jack too! Cool about your class being cancelled. I know how hard to make up a class that meets only once per week. Talk to you soon.

That's good news about the cancelled class.

Chef Mickey's will be so much more fun than Monday night class! What time is your ADR?

We try to clear our cards and get them on the computer every few days, too. Modern technology is so nice.

I just finished reading through your report. Not much longer until you will be there and I will still be counting down until the end of July. I've got a few things going on between now and then to keep me busy though.

I saw where you mentioned your sister is a mashed potato eater as am I. Just a warning the side order of mashed potatoes at Le Cellier is ginormous! John ordered them with his meal and we got an order for Brooklynn and when they brought the food out it was a huge portion. Just a warning that you can very easily share a side of mashed potatoes between two very hungry adults with no problem.

Hi, You only have 17 days left!!! :cheer2:

When will you start packing?

Your dream is strange but, at least you finally made it there. :goodvibes

And now we have just over two weeks!!! Next week, we will be able to start saying, "I'm going to Disney World next week!" I can't believe how quickly it has flown by.

My dog does okay with being kenneled, I think. He's kind of an anxious dog to begin with, but when we took him for a trial boarding last year (basically just dropped him there for a few hours to make sure that he'd be okay,) he did fine. I think that they wanted to make sure that he wasn't aggressive. He used to be really dog-aggressive when we first got him, but he grew out of that pretty quickly, and now he wants to meet every dog he sees. Except for Charles's puppy--he doesn't really seem to care much for him.

That's awesome that you get to see your nephew's baby! As for my classes, I'm not going to miss either one!!! I'm so excited! I checked my school's website just to be sure. My other class meets on Mondays, and the day that I'd miss is actually President's Day, so there's no school!

Our Chef Mickey's ADR is at 5:20, I believe. We were really lucky to get that, I think, because that's actually on President's Day. Like I said to Shelby, that also means that I won't be missing either of my classes! I am amazed at how that worked out.

My memory card holds 499 pictures, and I really like not having to worry about the space, so it's easier to just dump them all on my laptop. I'm thinking of asking my mom if she wants me to put her pictures on there, too, and free up her memory card, because last year, she only had one memory card and didn't bring her laptop. I'll have to try and remember that for when she gets home from work.

Hi Jill! Thanks for reading. :goodvibes

I'm sure that the time until July will fly by, especially after April. That's awesome that Isabella is going to get her first taste of Disney so soon, and I'm sure that she will end up loving it just as much as Brooklynn and everyone else.

Thanks for letting me know about the mashed potatoes; I'll make sure that we only order one side, if anything. :)

Your dream is strange but, at least you finally made it there. :goodvibes

Yup, and a week from today we will be in the single digits!!! It's crazy and I'm so excited!!!

Packing...well, I will probably start prepping (laundry, sorting, etc.), the weekend before we leave, and start the actual packing process about two weeks from today. I have my list in Word all made out, and I have 12 shirts, which doesn't include the two hoodies and one hooded shirt that I plan to bring! I like to be prepared for anything, especially since I'm unsure of what the weather will be like down there.

Since our trip is in just over two weeks, I'm posting yet more pictures from our April trip.

This was the first time that we picked a pearl. My mom and Kailyn got necklaces, and I got a ring.

n505059094_414022_3732.jpg

I have to say that the ring is pretty hardy. I work as a supervisor in a grocery store, so I'm constantly handling things, and I've gotten it caught on plastic bags more times than I can count, and it has still stayed firmly put.

I wanted a picture in front of the "do not enter" (refer back to the beginning of the report, where I said that we like to find photo ops.)

n505059094_413999_8056.jpg

This might look bad if you don't really know my family and I, but I'm sure that everyone has gotten an idea of what we are like. This is my mom trying to trade my dad for the video camera that I'm holding and me not wanting to. And yes, we planned this out. :rotfl:

n505059094_414030_6092.jpg

One of the only food porn pictures I took, because this was before I was a Diser. It's from Chef Mickey's, and it's peach cobbler and smoked salmon.

n505059094_414024_4314.jpg

My plate ALWAYS looks like that when we go to a buffet. I'm not a picky eater, but I'm weird about my food touching.

This was after nighttime EMH at MK. My dad and Mike left early, but Mom, Kailyn, and I lingered.

n505059094_414112_4132.jpg

We also had to buy those sweatshirts, because that was the one night that it got kinda chilly (low 60's, I think), and we were freezing after riding Splash Mountain and wearing shorts or capris and t-shirts.

This is Kailyn's and my excited faces--right before we left for the airport.

n505059094_413996_4982.jpg

These are from the Pirate and Princess Party.

Michael didn't go like this, but he walked around the rooms wearing his bandanas like that. I guess he was a pirate/ninja hybrid.

n505059094_417555_7616.jpg

His ninja side started to come out as he peered out from the door that separated the two rooms.

n505059094_417557_8246.jpg

Dad's bandana was having issues...

n505059094_417556_7923.jpg

These next few pictures are just Kailyn and I being weird. We were really hyper and apparently wanted to document it by taking self-portraits. :rotfl2:

Have a good Monday!

I was over the picture/smiley limit in my last post, and I just found this on Charles's Facebook and need to post it here.

Last week, Charles helped me rearrange my room. For some strange reason, I found Mr. Potato Head teeth. I'm assuming that my mom got one for her kiddos and the piece somehow found its way into my room. Naturally, my first instinct was to get a picture with Caesar holding them in his mouth. I had to show my parents, and Charles wanted to get a picture on his iPhone. My dad had to hold Caesar to keep him from trying to eat the teeth. I think they felt like some of his plastic chew toys.

n1236900013_30078269_6001.jpg

:rotfl2: I had to share that.

Just found your PTR....wish I'd found it sooner, but I am subbing for your final countdown! Looks like you are going to have so much fun!!

Hooray for getting to almost two weeks!

I don't think you'd enjoy eating with me. I'm a mixer. I put the meat and beans and poatoes and whatever else altogether. A lady who used to work at our church camp a few years ago was like you - nothing could touch. She always went for the divided plates! :)

Caesar is so cute in that picture!

:welcome: Thanks for reading and subbing! I'm going to go and catch up on your PTR shortly, since I just noticed the link in your siggy.

I just have to say that your dog is adorable. There. I said it.

Thanks! I think he is, too, but I'm kinda biased. You have a dog, right? What kind? Do we get to see pictures?

:rotfl: At our cookouts, my grandmother used to always bring those plates for my mom. I've been like that since I was little--I can clearly remember, at every birthday party, asking my mother to not let my cake and ice cream touch. I have gotten a little better; I will sometimes eat green beans and mashed potatoes together, and I'll still sometimes push my food apart with my fork, but I can't keep myself from separating everything at buffets.

Thanks! I was hysterical when we finally got the teeth into his mouth. I think he was confused as to why we were putting them in his mouth, and then pulling them out when he'd drop them and try to eat them.

Technically as a family we have 3. One is a 9yr Heinz 57 (she actually had to go to the vet today, and I'm waiting to hear from my mom that she is ok)

Our other two are Mini Schnoodles. We got brothers when we got them, we went for one and ended up with two! My dog is Bailey, and if I can figure out how to post pics I would be happy to show a pic of my boy! I just got my computer back today, so I will try to work on that later...And Yay for your trip being really really soon!

I've never heard of mini schnoodles, but I did a Google image search and they are adorable!!! Glad that you got your computer back. I would be totally lost if I didn't have my laptop. Sad but true. :rotfl:

We have 12 days until we leave. In two days, I'll be able to start saying that we're going to Disney World next week; in three days, we'll be in the single digits! :woohoo:

So, I came home from school last night, and my dad asks me if I want to go parasailing.

:hyper:

I had read, but kind of forgotten about how, at the Contemporary, you have the chance to go parasailing. My dad doesn't like heights, but he said that he'd still do it in a heartbeat. Kailyn and I were both very interested, and my mom didn't want to, but would be content with staying on the boat and watching. She left a note for my dad letting him know when our ADR's were, when the segway tour was, and wouldn't it be cool if we could do that on Kailyn's birthday?

I thought that parasailing would be booked solid, especially on President's Day, which is Kailyn's birthday. When my dad called, though, the whole afternoon, except for 1-2 PM, was totally open! So, he booked a 2 PM time for the three of us. My dad will be going solo, and Kailyn and I will be going tandem (I think...she's sleeping over a friend's house tonight and hasn't answered my text yet.) Kailyn's 16th birthday now consists of a morning segway tour at Epcot, afternoon parasailing, dinner at Chef Mickey's, and going to whatever park(s) she wants to. Not too shabby, right?! I'm so glad that we got all that set up for her birthday, because before we booked the trip, she wasn't sure what she was going to do.

Have a fantastic Friday!

I am so jealous that you are going to go parasailing!! That is so awesome. I want to do that someday, you are going to have so much fun. What a fantastic birthday for your sister! pixiedust:

I should say not!

That'll be an awesome birthday!

I would love to take pictures from way up high! ::yes::
