AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

HI Amy,
Man, I thought I would look up your journal and see what you've been doing and how it's working for you, but I think I would need a whole day to read it!! From the sounds of it you are recovering from your surgery and are doing an amazing job on working out!!! My goodness girl! :cheer2:
Where are you going in Mexico ( i've been a few times). Well I hope you have a blast, are the kids going?
I was able to read your 1st 2 pages or so and I see you grew up in Mi (that's where I am at) It's funny to see people talking about Cedar Point. Gotta love that place!!
Well you keep up the working out and doing great, and thanks for reading my journal and the great advice, it's really helpful.
Erin

I snuck my walk in yesterday morning! :cool1: I am going to try to do that daily and see if I can get away with it. It’s just too hot at lunchtime when the high is 97. I don’t mind sweating, but I don’t like sweating when I have to be at work going to meetings for the rest of the day. It was already 80 degrees and I started at 8:45am… :sunny: Guess I’ll have to go earlier next time! However, I am not starting off the month with a bang – I did not go to the gym. I was just SO tired and couldn’t even fathom working out. I felt bad, but I have to listen to my body. I did not have a good day with food either. WAY too snacky! :sad2: The first thing I did this morning was toss the remaining chocolate bunnies in the trash. :cheer2: The kids didn’t say a word about their Easter baskets being gone. I didn’t think they would! Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea, 10oz iced green tea and a Diet Tangerine Rite:

6:20am: Egg Beaters w/FF Cheese; Oatmeal
8:30am: FF Cottage Cheese; Strawberries
11:30pm: Chicken; Spanish Rice (3/4c); Peas-n-Carrots
2:30pm: Egg White (1); LF String Cheese; Cantaloupe
5:00pm: Beef Jerky; 20 Cheez-It Crisps
6:30pm: Turkey Tostadas (2) (w/FF Cheese, ½ Tomato, Cabbage); Healthy Choice Fudge Bar
9:30pm: 3 big bites of chocolate Easter bunny (after DS’s game, which they tied)
WORKOUT: Walking (40min)
RESISTED: More chocolate bunny, more Cheez-Its

Anna, never fear, I have the "bad" obsessive-compulsive worries too! I really felt rotten about not making it to the gym, but I have to get over it.

Marie, come along! The more the merrier! But it's BYOT (Bring Your Own Tequila).

Jane, DH is going to pick up the check today. The only good thing is that it was our 3rd vehicle. What a pain it would have been if one of us used it everyday!

Erin, we are going to Rocky Point (about 4 hrs from Phoenix). The kids are not going on this trip, but we are taking them in October. We usually go 2-3x a year. I :lovestruc Cedar Point! I am so bummed because I don't think we are going this year. We are going to Charlevoix and Mackinac Island this time. I grew up in Grand Blanc (home of the Buick Open!). We go every year for 4th of July to visit my dad.

Kate, don't crown me yet, I think I burned myself out a little bit. I'm taking another day of rest today and will get back to it tomorrow. Yep, another vacation. What can I say, I love to travel!

Jamie, I am really going to try sneaking my walks in every morning. :ssst: In fact, after I post this I will go (I'll catch up on journals at lunchtime!)

Great job sneakin' that walk in! I don't blame you for getting rid of those lunch time walks. Its too bad that you're hitting 3 digit temperatures already.

Have fun when you go to Mackinac Island. I was doing humorous Michigan trivia for my Michigan residents in our Alzheimer's unit when I mispronounced Mackinac. I will never forget how to pronounce that word even if they don't know how to spell it.

Thanks for getting me into the May Challenge. I've worked harder the past two days than I did all of last week!

Yea for you getting a walk in the morning. :cool1: Sorry it is so hot though! :sunny: Awesome to throw out the last of the chocolate bunnies too!

I also want to thank you for the May Challenge. It has definitely been a good motivator to get me moving. I'm still not at 60/day, but at least I am getting something in everyday. :thumbsup2

Official weigh-in was 140. :confused3 Yep, 3lbs up from Friday (I was 137 Friday, 139 on Sat after the Outback incident and 141 on Sun from the Blue Adobe splurge). I did much better with eating yesterday. No snacking after work/before dinner, but only because I had to take DD to tap… I would have eaten the dog if I was at home. I wonder if it is PMS time? Since I don’t have TOM anymore, I have no way of telling… Tonight we have another late baseball game, and next Wed is the last 8pm game. The rest of the games are at 6pm, much easier on the kids. DS is pitching tonight  ! I might as well make a Dr appointment now, since I am going to worry myself an ulcer at the game… Yesterday I drank 108oz of water, 2 cups green tea, 20oz iced green tea and a DC:

6:15am: Chocolate Oatmeal
9:00am: FF Cottage Cheese; Strawberries
12:00pm: Leftover Chicken w/Amaretto Mushroom Sauce; Scalloped Potatoes; Carrots; Red Licorice Twist (28 cal)
2:40pm: FF Cottage Cheese (forgot to boil more eggs!); Cantaloupe
6:45pm: Chicken Las Vegas (Chicken, FF Sour Cream, Chipped Beef, Cream of Mush in Crockpot); Wheat Noodles; FF/SF Pudding
8:30pm: Cinnamon Toast Crunch (3/4c – I could have done without this!)
WORKOUT: Walking (40min)
RESISTED: Pre-dinner snacking :cheer2:

Jane, Mackinac is an Indian name. Last time we went there it was 55 degrees and pouring rain (in July!). Hopefully the weather will be better this year. I am going to go on my walk right after I post this. It's a gorgeous morning! :sunny:

Anna, it is still hard for me to throw candy away, but I am getting better at it! I love the exercise challenges, they are very motivating. I'm glad you signed up and are getting the same motivation! You'll have no problem meeting your goal! :cheer2:

Hi Amy,

Sorry to hear that the scale moved the wrong direction....it'll move back..I know it!!!

Good for you for getting your walk in the morning...I wish we had the weather that you do!!! I don't like it when it is chilly 30-40's in the morning and then 60's during the day! I have lived in CO all my life and I hate the cold...I want to be warm. However I suppose that if I lived where it was hot, I would complain too!!!

You are doing great....good job on throwing out the rest of the chocolate...

Keep it up! Have a great Wednesday :)

Hey Amy...just checking in.
Sorry about the 140....it'll come off...you're doing great, so don't get discouraged!

m

Don't ya hate those weight ins!?! At least you haven't slammed the scale against the wall... yet. Don't forget to give your body a chance to recoup after surgery. Your friend said it took her quite awhile for the weight fluctuations to end - you'll get there too!

Aaaaaammmmmmyyyyyyyyy.......wwwhhhheeeerrrrreeee Aaaaarrrrreeeee Yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyooooooooooooooouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu???!!!

Yay, I finally got to the gym yesterday! :cool1: I did upper body only since I was planning on going again today, but I will be too busy (washing the van, packing, cleaning the house, taking DS to the craft store to get supplies for his school project, etc), so I decided I will get up at my usual time tomorrow and get to the gym before we leave at 7:30am… There is a workout room at the place we stay in Mex. I am going to take my workout clothes, but if I don’t make it, I’m not going to beat myself up. DH and I usually take a long walk on the beach every morning, so I can count that! Oh ya - the shorts I ordered to match my swimsuit came in yesterday - and they are HUGE! We're talking NO WAY they will fit, they fall right off (and there is no tie or anything). I am so bummed, now I have no idea which suit to take. It will most likely be a 1-piece since this blubber ring is still not under control. Hopefully by my Michigan trip in July it'll be better...

DS did not do that great pitching yesterday. :sad2: He walked in 2 runs and hit a batter, and DH pulled him halfway through the first inning. So of course he was super upset and was sulking at 3rd base (his usual position) with his hat pulled over his eyes. I think he was crying or on the verge and didn’t want anyone to see. Poor guy! But he needs to learn to get over that frustration. ::yes:: When he got up to bat, I thought he was going to strike out on purpose (weak swings, bad attitude), but he got a hit and after that his attitude improved. There was another parent (from our team) who is subbing for DH for Friday’s game and I guess he thought he was coaching already – “advising” all the players from the stands. He was driving me nuts! :furious: It really pushed my buttons when he was giving DS advice about batting. Finally, the second time DS was up, the dad started in and I told him “He’s only struck out once this entire season, I think he knows what he’s doing”. Fortunately he got the hint. Yesterday I drank 120oz of water, 2 cups green tea, 10oz iced green tea and a DC :boat: :

6:15am: Egg Beaters w/FF Cheddar; Oatmeal
8:45am: FF Cottage Cheese; Cantaloupe
11:45am: Leftover Chicken Las Vegas; Wheat Noodles; Carrots
2:30pm: Egg Whites (2); LF String Cheese; Pear
6:30pm: Shake-n-Bake Pork Chop; Mashed Potatoes (1/2c); Cauliflower; FF/SF Pudding
WORKOUT: Walking (40min); Upper Body Weights (30min); Treadmill (35min)
RESISTED: Pre-dinner snacking (again!); More Pudding

Jamie, I think everyone hates the weather where they live and wants to be somewhere else. I love it here in AZ and I don't mind the hot summers because the rest of the year the weather is awesome! :sunny:

Marie, I'm here, I'm here!!! The scale is stupid and I will always hate it :badpc: (insert scale here)

Jane, I don't get as mad at the scale as I used to. I almost did chuck it against the wall a few times in the past. Now I just flip it off and go on with my day... :rolleyes1

Hi Amy,

Sorry to hear that things didnt go all that well with the game last night....Maybe next time it will be better!!!

I hope you have a wonderful time in Mexico...don't worry about it if you don't make it to the gym...you are on vacation after all!!!

Happy Friday :)

ARE YA BACK YET, HUH?? HUH??? ARE YA BACK YET??!!

:confused3

Hi Amy - hope you are having a great time on your vacation. Thank you so much for your support - I really appreciate it.

Sorry about that little gain but I'm sure it won't take you that long to get rid of it.

I would love to go go Macinac Island sometime - someday we will. I have heard from a lot of people about how gorgeous it is up there - although 55 and rainy in the summer would not thrill me too much :)

Chris
