AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

Don't you hate it when kids sports become no longer fun for the kids? DD has played recreational soccer with the same coach for the last couple of years, and we really like him. On his clipboard he has a sign: "They play, I coach, You cheer!" He has a great philosophy. It is about the kids and having fun.

Glad to hear the bloating is starting to go away.

Hi Amy,

Glad to hear that you can take a break from baseball for a while...sorry to hear that your DS team lost....it is so not fun anymore when the parents and the coaches get obnoxius...it is hard on the kids and the parents. I don't have hands on experince with with, but I have seen it happen!!!

Hope you are having a great day!! Keep up the good work!!! Glad to hear that the bloating is starting to ease

I have some good news and bad news. I always like to hear the bad news first and here it is - I was trying on my 5 swimsuits last night, to see which one I dislike the least and I hate them all! :mad: I am going shopping with DH this weekend to see if I can find a cute swim skirt to wear with some of my bikini tops. 2 of the suits are one-piece, but I hate them too! :mad: :mad: Two of the bikinis I really love the tops and one of them I can ALMOST deal with the bottom, so I will most likely take that one to Mex if I can’t find an acceptable replacement this weekend. The good news is – MY JEANS FIT!!!!!! :cheer2: :banana: :cool1: My blubber ring appears to be getting better. :yay: It definitely is not getting bigger, which is good. :Pinkbounc :bounce: Who knows, maybe it will be mostly gone by the time we leave next week (a girl can hope, can’t she?!?)

My kids ganged up on us at dinner and asked if they could go to McDonald’s sometime. According to DS10, we have not been there “in like 15 months”. I explained to him that after watching Super Size Me I had no interest in going to McDonalds ever again and that fast food is an occasional occurrence, not healthy and that we usually only eat it when we are traveling. They weren’t buying it, but too bad, there is no fast food in our immediate future… Yesterday I drank 120oz of water :eek: , 2 cups green tea and a DC:

6:15am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:30am: FF Cottage Cheese (1/2c); Honeydew (1c)
11:00am (@class): Turkey-n-Cheese w/Mustard on Wheat; Cauliflower (1c) (I forgot I had class and brought my lunch, which I will be eating today instead…)
3:00pm: Egg Whites (2); LF String Cheese; Apple
5:00pm: Almonds (1.2oz); 16 Jellybeans :sad2:
6:30pm: Cheeseburger Pie (1.5 pieces); Broccoli; SF/FF Pudding
WORKOUT: Walking (40min)
RESISTED: Cookies and chips in class; Cool Whip (I put that evil stuff back in the freezer!)

Marie, that's what we are here for! Thanks to you for listening to me gripe about my raging hormones these past couple weeks!

Jane, the cream is OTC. I got it at Nature's Finest, but I think they also have it at Hi-Health. You just have to make sure it says bioidentical progesterone USP. That is the best stuff. I'm pretty happy with it so far and it's only been a week!

Cruisin', I've noticed that girls sports are way more about fun, etc but boys sports are brutal! DS and DD both used to play soccer (DS doesn't play anymore) and the boys teams were always SO competitive and some of the parents were horrible! But I haven't seen that on DD's teams and she will be starting her 4th year of AYSO this fall.

Jamie, it is amazing (and sad) how some parents push their kids in sports. I vow to never become one of those parents! I always ask my kids if they want to sign up for sports and if they say no, that's fine with me. But they better pick something else to do (dance, music lessons, etc) because they aren't going to sit around the house and get lazy!

Have fun swimsuit shopping!!! :crazy:
I bought one a couple weeks ago at Sears - Steel Belted Radial - full coverage....had to get the one's the tracters use!!

Congrats on the jeans...that's awsome!!! You are gonna look so good on the cruise!! Keep it up!!
120 oz of water!!!??? - be right back.....that made me have to pee!!! :boat:

have a great day Amy!!

marie

I can't believe we started our posts so similiar today - your time was before mine so I guess I'm the copycat! We were both thinking along similiar lines today - good news and bad news! I think your good news is great! Keep up the great work! (my computer mouse has been giving me problems so I hope I'm able to post!)

Congrats on the Mc'D's ban! That place is more trouble than its worth - even the salads are high in fat. Bathing suits are a pain to size and buy. Good Luck with it! YOu're a better person than me. Thanks for the info on the progesterone cream.

Great news on the Jeans and good luck on the swim suit shopping. :thumbsup2 Like you said, maybe the other suit will be ok too by the time you get to Mexico next week. So funny about "SuperSize Me". DH watched this movie earlier this month. He is a huge junk food junkie, and he was grossed out. I don't think he has been to McD since for lunch (and that has to be some kind of record.)

Marie: love your swimsuit description. :rotfl: I have not had to cross this harrowing path yet since "sunny southern CA" has been distinctly "unsunny" :sad2: Usually we have been swimming for 2 months by now. To date we have had 1 day of "swimming" weather. grrrr....

Hi Amy,

Congrats on the jeans, good luck with the swimsuit shopping. That's not usually a lot of fun!!

Enjoy your weekend, and thanks for taking on the exercise challenge. You do so well yourself, you can inspire others! :sunny:

I just got caught up on your journal this morning. Our bodies can get so messed up sometimes! My doctor told me after the hysterectomy that it could take as long as a YEAR to get things back to normal! I thought that when you had things REMOVED that you would be skinnier. Apparently that is not the way it works!!

Congrats on the jeans fitting! :cheer2: Bathing suit season is my least favorite time of the year. I got a suit last year from Land's End that I love. It is a 2 piece, but it is a tankini with a skirted bottom. Not a flouncy skirt, just a straight one with a slit up the side. Just enough coverage!!

Have a great weekend!! :sunny:

Boy, yesterday sure went downhill fast! DH had a crummy day at work, so after the ex picked up the kids, instead of going to the gym, we headed to Outback... 4 Martinis later, I had a serious hankering for ice cream. We had to stop at the grocery store to get water, and we decided to get some Ben-n-Jerry's instead of driving to Baskin Robbins. BIG MISTAKE! At least I only ate 1/2 of mine (the price I paid = 660 calories and 40g of fat :scared1: ). DH ate the WHOLE thing! Over 1200 calories in one sitting...

I just threw out half of the candy from the kids Easter baskets. I need to toss the rest, but I can't seem to throw away the Milky Way bunny, M&M egg, chocolate bunnies and Cadbury Creme Eggs. I know, I just need to do it! Or maybe send it with DH to work on Monday. Either way, that crap will be out of my house after this weekend. The kids haven't even touched it since a couple days after Easter. They probably won't even notice they are gone when they come back tomorrow... Yesterday I drank 90oz of water; 2 cups green tea;Diet Tangerine Rite and 4 martinis:

6:15am: Egg Beaters; Brown Sugar/Cinnamon Toast w/Butter (2)
8:30am: FF Cottage Cheese; Honeydew
12:00pm: Chicken (3oz); Mashed Potatoes (1/2c); Cauliflower
2:30pm: Egg Whites (2); LF String Cheese; Honeydew
5:00pm: 1/2 loaf Outback Bread w/Butter; 3 Buffalo Chicken Strips (very small, not breaded); 1 Cup of Baked Potato Soup
8:00pm: 1/2 pint Ben-n-Jerry's Chubby Hubby (which he should be after eating a pint of Phish Food!)
WORKOUT: Walking (40min)
RESISTED: The rest of the ice cream; Carrot Cake at a retirement party! :cheer2:

Marie, I need a swimsuit like that! Off to Sears I go...

Jane, I didn't realize how little we get fast food. Apparently the kids do! The last time I remember taking them was in January because someone had given them some gift certificates for Christmas. DD6 even wrote in her thank-you card "My mom hates McDonald's but she will take me so I can use my certificate". :lmao:

Cruisin', that documentary had a lasting effect on me and pretty much everyone else I've talked to that's seen it. I bet McDonalds HATED when it got released!

Kate, swimsuit shopping is absolute torture. I did order some matching shorts for one of my bikinis and put rush delivery on it, so hopefully I will like those well enough to take to Mex

Karyn, that sounds like the kind of suit I want! Our bodies are weird like that. They don't like people poking around with sharp instruments and taking stuff out. I am finally SLOWLY getting better after 5 weeks. It just stinks because I felt fine a couple days after surgery, so I should BE fine in my impatient mind...

Marie, Cruisin', Kate - WAY TO GO signing up for the May Exercise Challenge!

Jane and Karyn - You guys better sign up soon!

I did! I'm signed up and ready to go. Its back to 250 minutes a week.

Loved your daughter's thank you card - what an original! :rotfl2: By the way, how do you do quotes from someone's else's post? I've only been on this site for over half a decade and haven't figured it out yet.

I can't imagine having Easter candy in the house that my kids wouldn't have devoured. You must be doing something right! :smokin:

When DH has a bad day, you've got to go along. And if you had to splurge on ice cream, then Chubby Hubby was a great choice! You'll exercise the Martini's and ice cream off in no time! Good job resisting the Carrot Cake too.

Thanks for all your support on my journal and for taking on the May exercise Challenge! Have a great rest of the weekend!

Anna

ok....so let's see the bathing suit!!! did you get a new one or not??

Well, yesterday went just like Friday, instead of overdoing it on cocktails at dinner, I overdid it on food... Wow, I am really blowing it considering I'm going to be in a swimsuit all next weekend... :rolleyes1 But on a more positive note, I made it to the gym 18x this month!!! :cheer2: TBK about killed me this morning, but I toughed it out and even stayed for ABT. Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 8oz FF Chai, Diet Tangerine Rite and a Mango Margarita (yum!):

9:15am: Egg Beaters w/FF Cheddar; Blueberry Crumble Toast w/Butter (2)
1:00pm: Turkey-n-Cheddar on Wheat; Peas-n-Carrots (1/2 can); 16 Sixlets
3:30pm: Kashi Crunch; FF Yogurt; 10 Mini Whopper Eggs
6:30pm@Blue Adobe: Chips-n-Salsa; Pecan Grilled Chicken w/Amaretto Mushroom Sauce (awesome!); Broccoli; Apple-n-Ice Cream Stuffed Sopapilla
WORKOUT: On the Ball (60min); Elliptical (35min)
RESISTED: More Easter candy...

Jane, WOOHOO I'm glad you joined the challenge! That'll kick start your motivation for sure! And to quote someone, there is a little button on the bottom of each post called "Quote" and when you click it, it puts the whole post as a quote and you type your reply underneath.

Anna, I think I'd have to be on the treadmill for 24 hours straight to work off the martinis and ice cream! And then I went and had a 1000+ calorie dinner again last night. I'll never learn...

Marie, I did not get another swimsuit! I figured I have at least $250 worth of swimsuits already and I just ordered shorts for one of them so I will wait and see how I like the shorts. And if I don't, OH WELL, I have to get over my poor body image and just wear one of the suits I already own!

You are an exercising goddess!! :yay: 18X! :worship:

Have a great week!

You're doing AWESOME!! Even with the Martinis!

Hope you have a wonderful week ahead!

Glad the Dr went ok.

Hi Amy,

Even with the martini's you still did good....Don't be too hard on yourself....

Wow....18x at the gym...I wish I had your motivation!!! You are awesome!!!

Keep it up and have a great day!

Happy Monday :)

I can’t believe it is May already! It seems like just yesterday I fell of DS’s pogo stick on Christmas Day… :rolleyes: We are finally getting things squared away with the insurance on the Jeep. We will actually get about $250 less than what we paid for it, which is nice (since we only had it 6 months…). We paid cash for the Jeep, so there was no lien on it. And I think we are going to put that money down on a new truck for DH later this year (he needs one, his is a ’94). Between the insurance $$ and whatever he gets from selling his truck, we will have a nice chunk of change and the remaining payments shouldn’t be so bad.

I am very proud of myself - I exercised almost 2000 minutes in April! :cheer2: I don't think I'll get that many in May since I have a vacation this weekend and it is too hot to walk at lunch, but I will try to get at least 1500 again! Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 8oz NF Chai, 20oz iced green tea and a Diet Tangerine Rite:

7:30am: Egg Beaters w/Cheese; Blueberry Crumble Toast w/Butter (2)
10:30am: Grape Nuts Trail Mix Crunch; FF Yogurt
12:30pm: Turkey-n-Cheddar on Wheat; 10 Cheez-Its Crisps; 14 Mini Whopper Eggs
3:30pm: ½ c Chubby Hubby (I actually ate ¾ of the pint on Friday because there was only ½ c left!)
7:45pm: Salmon (5oz); Fiesta Corn (1c); 2 Mini Reese’s Cups; 1 Chocolate Coin
WORKOUT: TBK (60min); ABT (30min)
RESISTED: More Easter candy (DH took all the candy to work, there is no more temptation!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anna, thanks! I think "obsessive-compulsive" is a little more realistic... :rolleyes2
Julie, thanks!
Jamie, I don't think I did good, but I know I've done way worst in the past. Today starts a new week and a new month, yippee! :banana:
There are way worse things to be "obsessive-complusive" about. Exercise is a good one! :yay: You are doing great!
Happy May Day! :flower1:
New month Amy.....
I'm not ready for this!!!
You are doing so great!!! I bet you're gonna look great this weekend on your vacation!! Can I go with?
And to quote someone, there is a little button on the bottom of each post called "Quote" and when you click it, it puts the whole post as a quote and you type your reply underneath.
No wonder I couldn't do it. I was clicking into the 'post reply' first.
Darn :confused3 - it didn't work - I'll go practice on my own thread!
Glad to hear that you're getting your insurance money for your jeep. What a pain it was to have your car stolen. Its just terrible that people have so little regard for other's property.
Congrats on those exercise minutes!!! You did an awesome job! :yay:
