AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

Wow, I was so busy yesterday I didn't even go into the computer room! The good news is that I met my exercise challenge!!! :cool1: :banana: :cheer2: :yay: :woohoo: I made it to the gym both weekend days, and boy are my legs sore... DS's b-day was great - I ate way too much, but I haven't done that in a while, so I'm not going to worry about it. I didn't make the healthiest choices this weekend, but I didn't binge or overdo it (except for on Sunday!). I am still debating whether or not to go to the Dr tomorrow. I might go just to make sure everything is OK, but my intuition tells me everything is OK and the Dr is not going to be able to do anything for me. Decisions, decisions... :confused3

Sat I drank 100oz of water, 8oz NF Chai, 16oz iced green tea and a DC:
9:00am: Egg Beaters w/Cheddar; Blueberry Crumble Toast w/Butter (2)
12:00pm: Turkey-n-Jack on Wheat; Cantaloupe; 100 Cal Pack
3:00pm: 5 unsweetened papaya strips (~4" long); 2 Gingersnaps; Flourless Oat Bran Muffin
7:00pm: Pork Chop; Cheddar-n-Broccoli Rice; Broccoli; RB Float Bar
WORKOUT: On the Ball (60min); Elliptical (30min)
RESISTED: Cheez-Its

Sun I drank 100oz of water, 8oz NF Chai; 12oz iced green tea; Diet Rite; Rum-n-Diet Sprite:
7:00am: FF Yogurt; Oat Bran Muffin
12:00pm: Turkey-n-Cheddar on Wheat; Cantaloupe; 4 Papaya Strips
3:00pm: 5 Gingersnaps; Laughing Cow Light w/20 pretzel minis
5:30pm: Carne Asada; Tortilla; Pretzel Minis (lots); Cake (2 pieces :rolleyes: ); RB Float (2 scoops ice cream, maybe 8oz root beer)
WORKOUT: TBK (60min); A&B Torture (30min)
RESISTED: Chips-n-Salsa; Mongo-sized RB Float
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Marie, the RB Float bars are from Schwans. They are pretty good, and only 90 calories each. Much better than the REAL RB floats we had yesterday! DS requested them for his b-day...
Amy, I bet you will love the chocolate oatmeal. I am hooked and I thought it sounded so gross when I looked at the ingredients. But it's not!
Cruisin', thanks so much! Wow, it really puts it all in perspective when you look at the past year. I didn't realize I traveled that much. And here I am with another mini-trip to Mexico in a couple weeks... I'm glad you are signing up for the May challenge! I was devastated last month when I didn't make my goal. It really is motivating!
Jamie, I hope the hormones work! It'll probably take a couple weeks to see any effect. I have to be patient, which is definitely tough for me! :teeth:
You blew that exercise challenge right out of the water! Way to go!! :jumping1: Its amazing you got in all those minutes with all of the stuff you were going thru. You're motivating me to get moving.
I'm glad you figured out what was wrong. I hope the cream works. You're going to be all set for a great beginning in May!
Way to go on your exercise challenge with still a week left in the month! :banana: It doesn't even look like you really "overdid" on Sunday either, especially considering it was DS's B'day!
Yeah for meeting your workout goal!! Isn't it the best feeling in the world to add the numbers up and go WHOOOOO HOOOOOOOO!
Wow Amy that is awesome that you met your exercise challenge! Way to go! Yeah, I am definitely trying that oatmeal when I get home. Don't worry about splurging on your son's birthday, thats what special days are for! Keep up the incredible job you are doing.
Way to go on the exercise Amy!! :thumbsup2
Hope the cream works and you see some great improvement. :sunny:
Hi Amy!!!
Way to go on meeting your exercise challenge!!! And we have almost a whole week left!!! Way to go...that is great! :banana: :banana: :banana:
I need to get back into the exercise challenges....next month..
You did pretty darn good this weekend even with your son's b-day!
Hope you have a great day! Keep up the good work...you are doing great!
I did not get to go on my lunchtime walk yesterday – I had a meeting during lunch. :sad2: I try to avoid that at all costs, but the customer wanted that time… I don’t think I will be able to go on my walk today either since I will be going to the Dr. I decided that I should rule out anything else since I already had the appointment. I have a feeling he is going to say there is nothing wrong with me. :rolleyes2 Meanwhile I am up a total of 3 lbs since surgery and my pants are still busting at the seams.. Ya, nothing is wrong… Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea, 12oz iced green tea and a DC:
6:20am: FF Yogurt; Blueberry Crumble Toast w/Butter (2)
8:45am: FF Cottage Cheese; Strawberries
12:00pm: Pork Chop; Broccoli-n-Cheese Rice; Carrots
2:30pm: Balance Bar
6:30pm: Chicken; Cauliflower; Oat Bran Muffin; 3 bites of Mashed Potatoes; B-Day Cake (small piece)
9:30pm: 1 mini chocolate donut (from DS’s post-game snack)
WORKOUT: Weights (30min); Treadmill (35min)
RESISTED: Almonds; pre-dinner snacking
Jane, I am very pleased that I was able to come back from a slacking March and kick butt in April's challenge! At least that is something I can control...
Cruisin', I just ate a bunch of junk on Sunday, which I usually don't do. But it was a special occasion so I'm not too worried about it!
Beth, I love the feeling of meeting a goal - it keeps me motivated! :banana:
Amy, let me know how you like the oatmeal - I just had it this morning! :cloud9:
Kate, thanks! I hope the cream works too. I might ask my Dr to check my hormones while I am there this morning. I'll let you know what he says!
Jamie, the exercise challenge is pretty much the only thing that keeps me going to the gym... :rolleyes1 I won't be getting as many minutes starting next month since it is getting too hot to walk during my lunch break. That will take away 200 minutes per week! Sometimes I can sneak out and go in the morning, but I can't rely on that every day... I'll have to get creative!
Just getting caught up from the past few days....sorry.
You have been doing awsome!! Congrats on EXCEEDING your goal!! That's great!! I didn't track my excersize at all this month....:(...hopefully May I'll do better on that aspect.
I'm going to check out the Schwans guy....wouldn't mind getting some RBF bars!! They sound yummy!!
"Talk" to you soon and keep up the great work...you're really and inspiration!!
(oh, and let us know what the Dr. says!)
Darn those customers and their schedules! I feel lucky sometimes to get 24 hour notice from DH that he will be out of town for a customer meeting. His mom doesn't get. She wants to know if he will be in town for a certain date next month. WTH! I don't even know what days he will be in town next week (or even this week!), much less next month! He is an engineer in product development. He travels a lot as a new product gets launched and as he defines a new product. He is doing BOTH right now. Ok, I am done ranting now! Sorry.
Hope your Dr appointment goes well. It is a good idea to get your hormones checked, too. Then you can rule out other things and get everything back on track.
Hi Amy,
Good luck with the doctor, let us know what he/she says. Given the way you have handled your exercise, I'll bet you will come up with a solution for getting those minutes in once its too hot to walk at lunch. I will let you know when I get home and do the oatmeal, I really need something new for breakfast, the slimfast shakes are beginning to bore me. Plus they have too many weird ingredients in them I can't even pronounce! I also may have to try this blueberry crumble bread. I think I saw that in the store the other day, is it Sarah Lee?
Just checkin' in to see how your doctor's appointment went. I hope that your doctor appreciates all of the hard work you've been doing to stay healthy! Sometimes they get so focused on procedures & $ that they forget how important the little details can be.
That Mexican trip is right around the corner. :sunny: Hang in there - it won't be long!
Hi Amy,
How did the doctors go yesterday? Hoping it all ended well!
You are totally kickin butt with the exercise ......I need to be more like you...WOW!!!!
Keep up the good work and I hope everything went well.
Have a great day!
Official weigh-in 137. Hey, it’s a change in the right direction! :banana: And surprise – the Dr said there is nothing wrong with me! :rolleyes: So I guess I am just hallucinating this whole thing and my pants all shrunk at the same time. Must have been that “make my life hell” setting on the washing machine… :rotfl: No, really, he said that I threw my body a curve ball by tying my tubes and removing the pill hormones it’s been accustomed to for years. It may take MONTHS for my body to relearn what it is supposed to do… :sad2: Hopefully the cream is kicking in. I think there has been some improvement. I can at least get my wedding ring on and off without shredding my knuckle! :cheer2: The Dr said he doesn’t think the cream will work. I don’t care, I’m still going to use it. ;) The big test will be on Friday when I wear jeans. So, the short story is that I will continue to watch what I eat and exercise and hope I can eventually reap some benefits and get my bikini body back!! Yesterday I drank 80oz of water, 2 cups green tea, 8oz iced green tea and a DC:
6:20am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:30am: FF Cottage Cheese; Cantaloupe
11:30am: Leftover EFL Goulash; Celery; Cauliflower; Cinnamon Disk (from Dr office)
3:00pm: Egg Whites (2); LF String Cheese; Apple
5:00pm: Oat Bran Muffin
6:45pm: Beef Roast; Carrots; Red Potato; 3 Chocolate Balls (Easter candy)
8:30pm: 10 Jelly Beans (I didn’t even need them – just wasn’t thinking!)
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: Last piece of b-day cake (DH ate it – yippee!)
Marie, I have really come to love the Schwans guy. The bars are really good. I also get the Fire-Roasted Chicken Breast Medallions. You can just pop them in the microwave and they are the perfect portion size. You will kick butt in the May exercise challenge!
Cruisin', that's tough when your schedule is so sporadic like that. Before I switched jobs, I would have to travel for 4-8 weeks at a time for testing. It was just too hard being away from the kids like that. In my current job I have only traveled once (and that was to Germany :Pinkbounc ) and it was only for a week. I didn't get my hormones checked, I figured if I am still having problems in June I will have them checked during my yearly exam.
Amy, yes, Blueberry Crumble is by Sara Lee. I love their bread products! I like the Blueberry Crumble better than the Brown Sugar Cinnamon (but they are both good). I am trying to figure out how many minutes I can squeeze in during May. Not looking good since I am starting off the month with a vacation...
Jane, the Dr actually told me that he hoped I didn't gain 800lbs. THANKS A LOT!!!! He said some women snap right back into shape and some (like me) have a tough time getting back to "normal". So I have to be patient, which is not one of the traits I possess... :rolleyes1
Jamie, thanks! Exercise is the one thing that makes me feel like I am doing all I can to stay in control. I am hooked and I feel really guilty if I don't work out at least 4-5x a week. You can get there too!
Glad the scale has started to move the right direction. :banana: Good luck being patient. I know that is hard since patience is not one of my virtues either. :rotfl: DH's travel is a bummer, but part of the territory. The good part is all the FF miles. :thumbsup2 We have been able to take many great trips because of them. :cool1:
Amy, omygod, did the doctor scare you to death when he stated that he hoped you didn't gain 800lbs?!?!? :scared: I'm glad that you're healthy - it won't be long until you arrive at the weight you want. You're way ahead of the game already with your workouts, diet & present weight.
The View has done programs on progesterone cream and some women swear by it. Let us know how it works. I may give it a try - at 48 I need all the help I can get!
Amy,
So glad to hear that the scale is finally moving in the right direction!! You are going to get back to where you want to be in no time.
Glad to hear that the doctor's appt was good..At least there is nothing wrong...it's just going to take time to get you back to normal! Don't worry I don't see you gaining 800lbs....you work too hard to do that!!!
Hope you are having a great day! Keep up the great work!
We had a much needed break from baseball last night. DS’s team had their butts handed to them on Monday. I really dislike the team that beat them. The coaches are really obnoxious (heckling our batters, etc) and so are the parents. For them it is all about winning, not about learning the game and having fun. Luckily we don’t have to play them anymore. :cheer2: We played them 3x (we won the first one and lost the other 2 – they are the only team we’ve lost to). I was very upset with DS because once they started losing, he just gave up and he actually cost the team 3 runs. I told DH to pull him from the game, but he was already punishing some other “quitters” on the team so he couldn’t sit him out. DS will be sitting out the first inning or two of the next game they play. He won’t be happy, but he needs to learn that he can’t just give up just because they are losing. And DH wants to try him at pitching, which I don’t think I can handle. I get nervous enough when he is up to bat, I can’t imagine watching him pitch! :scared: I’ll get an ulcer by the time the first inning is over! Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea and a DC:
6:20am: FF Yogurt; Blueberry Crumble Toast w/Butter (2)
8:45am: FF Cottage Cheese; Cantaloupe
12:00pm: Pork Chop; Cheddar-n-Broccoli Rice; Carrots; Oatmeal Raisin Cookie (I actually got it at 9am and saved it for after lunch! :teeth: )
2:30pm: Egg Whites (2); LF String Cheese; Apple
6:30pm: Chicken; Wheat Noodles; Cauliflower; SF/FF Pudding; Cool Whip Light (an obscene amount, probably 1c :sad2: )
WORKOUT: Walking (40min); Weights (30min); Elliptical (35min)
RESISTED: More cookies, chips-n-salsa in the breakroom (Secretaries Day Celebration)
Cruisin', I hear ya on the FF miles! I was able to go to my cousin's wedding after the company sent me to Germany (biz class). It definitely makes travel a little more worth it!
Jane, I think the bloating is starting to slowly go away. I don't know if it is because of the cream or if it was just time, but I am going to use the cream for 3 weeks like it says and see what happens. I knew the Dr was joking around when he said the 800lb comment, but it wasn't very reassuring (like he was hinting that I might gain some). Oh well, like I've said before, I'm not too concerned about my weight anymore, just the way my body looks.
Jamie, I think my bones would snap if I gained that much! I'm only 5"4' for cryin' out loud...
Amy - just getting caught up w/ everyone....
first- glad the dr. said everything is ok....hopefully your body will prove that to you..
second-congrats on 137! its' gonna start melting off now!!
third-sorry your ds's team lost to that other team....i hate it when the other team (parents and coaches) are obnoxious winners....it's one thing to win a game, it's another to have tact when doing it....
and finally - thanks for sticking w/ me on my little slump this week....i REALLY appreciate it....never met you, but consider you a real friend....thanks!
marie
Your doctor may have been kidding but that was NOT funny! Is the cream otc or prescription? I've heard so much about it but don't even know where to get it. Great news that your feeling better! Things are improving. I bet by mid May you'll be looking great!
