AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

Hi Amy! I know it's been a while since I "talked" to you! It took me most of last evening to catch up in your journal!! You have been a busy girl! What kind of surgery did you have? I had the laparoscopy surgery in October (made things worse) and a total hysterectomy in March. I am having the worst time getting over the hysterectomy. I am trying to get back into the land of the living now. I am going to try to get my journal started back up and I'm starting back to Weight Watchers tomorrow night.

You are really doing great after surgery from what I can tell by reading your journal. :thumbsup2 It takes so long for your body to bounce back. I honestly thought that since I had so much REMOVED that I would be super skinny after surgery. Yeah, right. Keep working on eating right and exercising as much as your body will allow you. I'll do better keeping in touch!! :sunny:

Hi Amy,

Well you are probably right, your ex is probably not a well meaning candy giver! At least you threw out some of his "well meaning" candy! Keep thinking about Mexico and if you weigh 138 that "blubber ring" can't be that blubbery (honey I could show you some blubber that would blow yours right out of the water)! Remember what I said, BE NICE TO YOU!! Keep up the good work.

Amy

P.S. Benjamin has rallied and is better. That dog will probably outlive me.

I'd kill for 138 right now....but oh well! :confused3
anyway, you've been doing great and like i said before, you will look great on your trip....even if you don't think so, your hubby will!! :lovestruc

have a great day tomorrow!! :sunny:

Hi Amy,

Just wanted to pop in and say hi!! How are you feeling today???

Keep up the great work and I hope you have a wonderful day :)

Today I am still a little bummed. :sad2: I don’t know why I am so unhappy with myself right now. I have a wonderful life, I should be ecstatic! Here I thought this surgery was going to solve all my problems and instead it solved one and created another one! I wanted to make sure I was still on track with my calories, and yesterday’s totals were a little over 1300, so that is not the problem. Does anyone know of any natural diuretic foods? My friend works for a nutraceutical company and she is getting me a product (Wobenzym) which is supposed to help with inflammation. We’ll see how that goes, at this point I am willing to try anything! I wish I could stop being so hard on myself. This is my last whiny post, I promise! I need to be nicer to myself – STARTING NOW! Every day instead of whining about my body, I will try to think of something good about myself and post that instead. I really appreciate everyone's support during this rough patch I'm going through! :grouphug: Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea, 16oz iced green tea and a DC:

6:20am: Egg Beaters (no cheese!); 2 pieces Blueberry Crumble toast w/margarine (1tbsp total)
8:45am: FF Cottage Cheese; Strawberries w/Splenda
12:00pm: Ham-n-Pepper Jack on Wheat; Green Beans; 1 Kosher Raspberry Marshmallow Chocolate thing from my boss (YUCK!); 1 Bit-O-Honey & 1 Crème Saver (to get rid of the taste…)
2:45pm: Egg Whites (3); Apple
6:30pm: Taco Salad (Romaine, Ground Turkey, 1 Crunched Tostada Shell, Cheese); SF Pudding; 10 Mini Whopper Eggs
WORKOUT: Walking (40min); Weights (30min); Elliptical (35min)
RESISTED: More Easter basket goodies
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jamie, thanks for all of your kind words! I wish I didn't like chocolate... :rolleyes1
Kate, the holidays are getting us every time! Good thing there is not another candy-infested holiday for a while! :)
Karyn, so nice to have you back! I had an endometrial ablation and got my tubes tied. Recovery was just a couple days, but I think my hormones are all out of whack or something because I am retaining water like it's going out of style! :rolleyes2
Amy, your post cracked me up! :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: I am so happy to hear your Benjamin is back to his old self! And starting today I will force myself to be nice to me! :goodvibes
Marie, you also crack me up! :teeth: I know it seems petty to be unhappy with 138, but this is the heaviest I've ever been (besides during 2 pregnancies) and it is freaking me out because I am more active than ever so I don't understand why I can't fix it... :confused3
Amy hang in there, a rough patch is pretty natural in life, sometimes you just have to ride it out. Its okay to feel lousy sometimes, regardless of how overall well you are doing in life. Just don't let it rule you and take away from the good things happening. Easier said than done I know! You can whine here all you want, we'll still love you!
As for a diuretic, I know lemon is supposed to help. I would think given the amount of water you are drinking however, you are probably doing a pretty good job of flushing your system out. I think maybe your hormones are just wacky due to your surgery and will settle down pretty soon. Don't give up, just keep doing what you are doing because you are doing great! You eat a great diet, drink plenty of water and exercise like a demon woman! You are doing so well so just keep up the good work. :cheer2: . And Mexico awaits you, you lucky girl! Have a great day!
Did I read correctly? That you ate a chocolate marshmallow thing! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Thats gotta be worse than Milk Duds or caramels! I wouldn't even buy those for my kids. (Grandma did though.) Whats your boss thinking?
Sorry you're going thru a tough time. I went to Dr Weil's website for info in diuretics. Basically he recommends alcohol. (There we go again with the martini diet thing.) Actually, he does mention alcohol among some healthier alternatives http://www.drweil.com/u/QA/QA106639/
I agree with Amy about the lemons. I love an icy cold glass of lemon water - it always makes me feel better.
Get feeling better. Sorry that life's being such a pain in the neck lately!
WE LOVE YOU AMY!!!!! :sunny:
don't know if that helps or not, but I thought I'd give it a try.
There are days when I'm just so unhappy w/ myself that I could scream...but instead I take it out on DH.....want me to send him to you....he's a real good listener....even when you just talk to hear yourself.
Honestly...I know what you're going through and I'm sure it's the hormone upheaval from the surgery. Remember...it's going to take time. But also remember...we're here for you....whether you're whining, venting,or bragging...that's what we do....support each other....and even on days that you don't like you....we still like you!!!
BIG :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: 's and hang in there!
Hi Amy,
We are all hear for you so you can whine as you like!!!! Don't be too hard on you....you are doing great and this will pass as everything else. I am sure that your body justs needs time to readjust to everything.
Keep up what you are doing and you will be back to your old Amy in no time!!!
Happy Friday! Have a great weekend!
I resisted the Easter baskets yesterday – well, until about 9pm… :rolleyes1 But I did have 3 Mini Whopper Eggs in my hand and put them back! :cheer2: I was so starving all evening (at least I THOUGHT I was :rolleyes: ), I kept looking in the pantry and fridge for junk to eat. Luckily for me, there was nothing that was that tempting so I was able to behave for the most part. I was going to make EFL goulash, but the turkey meat was not thawed. :confused3 The kids wanted mac-n-cheese, and DH went to Tia Rosa and got some seafood tacos.
This weekend is going to be tough. Saturday is the Little League festival and picture day. Since this is our first time in this Little League, I have no idea what to expect. The previous one had all kinds of inflatable bouncy things and food booths. I can usually resist that stuff (except snow cones!). We also passed on our annual company function at Sunsplash (a water park). It is $5 per person for an all you can eat BBQ, plus all the rides, etc. We figured we’d be too burned out after going to the Little League festival so we didn’t even tell the kids about the Sunsplash thing… :ssst: DS’s b-day BBQ is on Sunday. And of course the cake he wanted is one of my faves – Cinnamon Swirl w/Cream Cheese frosting. I’ve already told myself that I can have 1 small piece and that’s it. ::yes:: Any leftovers will get sent home with people or sent to work with DH. I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea, about 10oz of iced green tea and a DC:
6:20am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:45am: Balance Bar
11:45am: Turkey on Wheat (no cheese); Peas
3:00pm: Egg Whites (2); LF String Cheese; Apple
6:30pm: Shrimp Taco w/Pineapple Salsa; Salmon Taco w/Mango Salsa; SF Pudding
9:00pm: 1 Peanut Butter/Chocolate Coin; 1 Fun Size Skittles (maybe 12-15 Skittles)
WORKOUT: Walking (40min)
RESISTED: Mounds egg; Mini Whopper Eggs; Cheez-Its
Amy, I will have to try adding some lemon juice to my water. Thanks for the tip! You are right - Mexico is going to be awesome as always, and I'm not going to ruin my vacation worrying about how I look!
Jane, I obviously wasn't thinking - but what can you do when the boss offers it then hovers over you to see how you like it? It was AWFUL and all I could say was "Well, that's different." :rotfl: Thanks for the article! I think I will go on a celery, onion and asparagus diet...
Marie, thanks so much, that DOES help! I might push your DH over the edge, so you better just keep him for your own abusing... My DH is pretty good but I've managed to annoy him this time. He keeps telling me to call the Dr and I keep not taking his advice. Now I feel bad, so I will probably call the Dr today (since DH is usually right about that kinda stuff!).
Jamie, thanks! I will continue chugging along since I know I am doing everything in my power to battle the bulge.
Amy, hi, and keep hanging in there!! :grouphug:
Vent all you want, that's what I love about supporting others, eventually it will be my turn and you can listen to me moan and groan!! :teeth:
No real advice here, except I do think the hormones play a big part, and maybe you should call the doctor's office and see if you can get any help or suggestions.
Have fun this weekend, sounds like a good plan for the Bday cake. Hope DS has a good day.
Since your dh usually knows what he's talking about, I hope you get a chance to call the doctor. At the very least he can give you some advice on how to deal with this. You're so active & busy its harder for someone like you to take it easy and allow yourself recovery time. Have a fun weekend & get in some R&R for yourself! :3dglasses
I'm still laughing picturing you with that darn marshmallow egg in your mouth! Ugh! :lmao:
Let us know what the Dr. says.....(hint hint hint)
Amy try not to get too down on yourself. You have to have time to heal!
Have a good weekend and just keep remembering the fun you'll have in Mexico...VERY SOON!!
Hi Amy,
Good luck with your "tough" weekend. I'll swear sometimes I almost dread weekends. Hang in there, when do you leave for Mexico?? You should call your doctor, he might be able to prescribe something to get rid of some of this water. Hey, by the way, what kind of chocolate oatmeal do you eat? That sounds pretty good. Have a great weekend and if you eat a snowcone at least they are fat free! Not a bad choice for a sweet treat in fact!
I did really good yesterday! :banana: Got all my water in, got to the gym, and I think I found out what my problem is - not enough progesterone. So I am going to get some progesterone cream and see if that helps. I have an appt with the Dr on Tues, but I think I am going to cancel it to see if the cream works. It totally makes sense - there was progesterone in the pill, and I was on it for years, and once I went off (cold turkey the day of my surgery) my body probably doesn't know it has to make it on its own now. So I am pretty excited - I am going to the vitamin store later today! :cheer2: Yesterday I drank 100oz of water, 2 cups green tea, 12oz iced green tea and a DC:
6:20am: FF Yogurt; Blueberry Crumble Toast w/Butter (2)
8:45am: FF Cottage Cheese; Apple
11:45am: Chicken; Spanish Rice; Carrots
2:30pm: Egg Whites (3); Apple
6:30pm: EFL Goulash; Root Beer Float Bar
WORKOUT: Walking (40min); Weights (30min); Treadmill (35min)
RESISTED: Cupcakes at work; Almonds
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kate, thanks for your support! I just feel like I have been a total cry baby these last couple weeks. Everyone has helped lift my spirits tremendously! :grouphug:

Jane, I called the Dr and they want to do a pelvic (no thanks) to check the size of my uterus. I'm pretty sure it's just fine, I am going to try the hormone route before I subject myself to more poking and prodding!

Marie, I called him! At least now DH is off my back... :teeth:

Julie, thanks! I need to focus on the positive, you're right!

Amy, the chocolate oatmeal is made by mixing 1/3c oatmeal (I use Quaker 1-Minute), 1 scoop chocolate protein powder and 1/2c water and microwaving it for 1.2-2min. Then stir in 1tbsp of peanut butter and top it with 1/2c skim milk. The recipe says you can add Splenda, but I think it tastes great without it!

ok...i read your entry for today...but all i remember seeing is
ROOTBEER FLOAT BAR.....what/ and where do i get those at???? I love rootbeer floats!!! :teeth:

Hi Amy,

Boy, you had a great day indeed on Friday! Thanks for the chocolate oatmeal recipe, I am going to make that soon. I used progesterone cream a couple of years ago per my doctor's recommendation and it did help. My levels are fine now so I don't use it anymore. Yeah, if you quit taking something cold turkey that can really have an affect. Try it, I hope it works and you avoid the pelvic thing! Keep up the great work!

Amy,

Your journal was my evening "Read" last night. Wow, you have really done a lot in the past 10 months: 4 vacations including a cruise, engagement AND wedding (Congrats!), surgery. Through all of that you have not gained a bit. In fact, with your healthy eating and super exercising, you are probably in much better shape than you were before. Keep it up!

I am also an engineer (or was, anyway) so I understand it being "all about the numbers", but the scale really doesn't give the whole story. Your goal to reduce your % body fat is a good one.

Your exercise regimem is inspirational. I'm definitely going to sign up for the May challenge. Thank you again for your wonderful comments in my journal as well.

ETA: :bday: to DS! Hope you are having a great day!

Hi there!!!

Hope that the progesterone is working for you.

Hope you had a good weekend!!! Keep up the great work!

Happy Monday:)
