AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

I thought it was just Iowa that had restrictions on medicine! Katelyn was sick on a Sunday when we first moved here, and since the pharmacy at Walmart was closed, I couldn't get her anything but Motrin! Needless to say, she was miserable until Monday morning.

I noticed that you have been eating clemetines. Aren't they awesome? I can eat 2 or 3 at a time! They are so good!!

You are a very strong person to resist Krispy Kreme. I haven't had a Krispy Kreme doughnut in almost a year! If I buy a box, I eat the box. Good for you!

Hi Amy,

Your family is absolutely gorgeous. You look very happy!!! I am very happy for you.

Congrats on walking past the donut holes. I am so with you on people bringing food in. Tomorrow we are having donuts, bagels and cup cakes. WHY???I have not been very good, so I don't need these types of things!!! But anyways, good for you for resisting them. That is great.

Congrats on being at 133 for the wedding. That is great!!!! You will be to your goal soon. I know you will.

Again congrats on the wedding and you are look wonderful! Have a wonderful evening!

I have been thinking about things lately. I really want to get into better shape. It doesn’t really matter what the scale says as long as my body is toned and not flabby. I need to stop getting derailed on special occasions. A splurge meal is fine – a splurge weekend is not… When we go to Vegas I am going to make sure I work out every day. I know we will be doing a lot of walking, but I’m sure there will also be lots of eating and drinking. But that doesn’t give me an excuse to gain 5lbs in 2 days. This will be a big test of my new-found motivation. My goal is to come back the same weight (+/-1 lb) as the day I leave. I can do it! :cheer2: Last night I ate a Russell Stover Chocolate. :rolleyes: But instead of eating all 3 (like I would have in the past), I calculated how many calories one piece was, told myself if I ate that piece I could not have ANYTHING for the rest of the evening, and I ate it after much thought and deliberation. And it was GOOD! :goodvibes DH ate the other 2, so there is no temptation left… (1455cal; 100oz water; 2 cups green tea):

B-Wheat Bagel w/Cream Cheese (2tbsp); FF Yogurt; Clementine
L-Romaine (2c); Cheese (1/8c); LF Dressing (2tbsp); Turkey-n-Swiss Sandwich (1/2); Egg Whites (3); Goldfish (30); Clementine; DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-FF Cottage Cheese (1/2c); Goldfish (30); Laughing Cow Light Wedge
D-Pork Chop (2oz); Mashed Potatoes (1/2c); Broccoli (1c); Crème Savers (3); Chocolate (1)
WORKOUT-Walking (40min); Weights (35min); Treadmill (25min)
RESISTED-Ice Cream (leftover from last weekend's festivities)

Jane, the pharmacist told me it was because they were having a lot of thefts (people apparently use the stuff in meth labs) and there is a certain ingredient that has to be monitored. It's crazy! :crazy2:

Karyn, I suggest stocking up on cold medicine whenever you are out and it is convenient. I got the medicine for DD, who was sniffling and coughing on Tuesday night. The next day she was fine and I haven't even opened the box yet... But now I have it just in case!

Jamie, thanks for the compliments. I don't know if I will ever reach my weight goal. I need to think of a more obtainable fitness goal instead of focusing on that scale! ::yes::

You're going to have so much fun in Vegas! When we were there almost every mornng we'd have breakfast at the Paris cafe. They had .99 Mimosas and I loved getting two every morning to start my day. I also loved the different groups that performed at Bally's. Almost every night we'd be up until 2am. Have a great time when you go!

Last night did not go as planned, of course, but I am going to count that as my splurge for the week and not beat myself up about it! So I don't know my calorie totals. I am going to go to the gym this morning before we start putting up all the Christmas decorations. I love this time of year! :banana: I did get in 40 minutes of walking, 80oz of water and 2 cups of green tea:

B-Kashi Crunch (3/4c); FF Yogurt
L-Romaine (2c); Cheese (1/8c); LF Dressing (2tbsp); Ham-n-Swiss Sandwich (1/2); Goldfish (30); DC
S#1-Clementine, Apple
S#2-LF String Cheese
D@Tia Rosa-Chicken Mango Salad (yum); Chips-n-Salsa; 2 Margaritas
Met friends at Outback-2 Martinis
Went back to our house-1 Rum Drink; 100 cal pack; Ice Cream (6 bites)
WORKOUT-Walking (40min)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, I wish you never told me about the 99 cent mimosas!! I love those! We are going to see Blue Man Group, which will be fun.
I did pretty good yesterday, considering I was craving junk all day! I did eat some Doritos and we went out for Baskin Robbins. We were SO disappointed because we were craving Pumpkin Ice Cream and they don't have it anymore! So I settled for Turtle Cheesecake, which was OK... My calories were high, but partly because I had a huge piece of salmon that was 340 cal! Oh well... The totals (1719 cal; 80oz water):
B-Egg Beaters (3/4c); Cheese (1/8c); Toast-n-Butter; Clementine
L-Grilled Ham-n-Cheese; Doritos (15); Peach Fresca (yum!)
S-LF Laughing Cow; Goldfish (35)
D-Salmon (6oz); Pasta Roni (1/2c); Cauliflower (1c); Creme Saver (1); Ice Cream (single scoop)
WORKOUT-Burn-n-Firm Pilates DVD (45min)
RESISTED-Cheese; Honey Roasted Almonds; More Doritos, Teddy Grahams
HI Amy,
Hope you had a wonderful weekend!!!!!
You did a great job controlling the junk cravings!!!!! That is great that you knew when to stop with the doritos.
Have a wonderful day and keep up the good work.
I did really good until dinnertime, when I kinda fell apart... :guilty: But for a weekend day, it was definitely an improvement! I had some meatballs and I have NO idea how many calories, so I don't have a total, but I am guessing it was around 1700 calories. It was my weekly ice cream sandwich night - I probably shouldn't have eaten it, but I'm a creature of habit! :teeth: The totals (~1700cal; 80oz water):
B-Egg Beaters (3/4c); Cheese (1/8c); Toast-n-Butter; Clementine
L-Grilled Ham-n-Cheddar; Goldfish (30); LF Laughing Cow; Fresca
S-LF String Cheese; Clementine
D-Pork Chop (2oz); Cauliflower (1c); Pasta Roni (1/4c); Meatballs (8); Creme Savers (3)
S#2-LF Ice Cream Sandwich; Lucky Charms (1c)
WORKOUT-Pilates Sculpt (55min)
RESISTED-Frosting Graham Sandwich; Almonds
Jamie, portion control is still something I struggle with. I have to count some out then put the bag away, or I will just totally lose control! :rolleyes:
Let me know how the Blue Man Group is. Dh really wants to see them someday. They always do a great job when they're on TV.
How'd your decorating go? Since my kids have grown up I don't do a tree anymore. Between the cat and the dog its just not worth it! My decorations are minimal. I do a real Christmas wreath on the door, a ceramic nativity set, snowbabies, candles, and a beautiful ceramic tree my sil made for us. When the kids were little we used to totally redecorate the house. Things sure change! Since we have Thanksgiving at our house - we don't have any Christmas meals here. We go to different houses for Christmas Eve, Christmas breakfast, Christmas late brunch & Christmas dinner. Its a lot of running around but its a lot of fun too!
Your workout minutes are amazing! :cheer2:
Doritos are a weakness of mine. I don't even buy them anymore. The baked ones really aren't that great to me.
Thanks for hooking me on clementines. I bought a box a few weeks ago and they are so good! I had forgotten how much I liked them.
I hope that you are having a great evening! :sunny: How's the weather where you are? We are in the middle of a "heat wave"...it got above freezing!
I swear, if I find out who keeps leaving goodies in the breakroom, I will track them down and smack them around a little bit… Yesterday there was a huge platter of cookies, brownies, etc. I had to walk right out. It’s torture! I went a little nuts and ate 4 Tootsie Rolls – but I figure that was better than even 1 cookie from the breakroom! And I paid for it with a sour stomach… :sick: But that didn’t stop me from snacking after dinner… :rolleyes1 My weight shows it too – ARGH! :scared: I have to take DD to tap tonight, so I should be able to behave...
I am doing pretty good in the exercise department – I think I might actually make my goal. I didn’t get to the gym this weekend like I wanted to, but at least I did some workout DVDs. I should be able to get to the gym 3x this week. This weekend will be super busy since DD has her tap recital and also a dress rehearsal on Sat. It pretty much consumes the entire day… And we also are taking the kids to see the Nutcracker. DS loves the music and DD loves ballet, so it should be a real treat for them. DH is not thrilled, but I am forcing him to expand his cultural horizons… Besides, we’re married now, so he HAS to! :teeth: (1927cal :guilty: ; 100oz water; 2 cups green tea):
B-Wheat Bagel w/Cream Cheese (2tbsp); FF Yogurt; Clementine
L-Romaine (1.5c); Cheese (1/8c); LF Dressing (2tbsp); Egg Whites (3); Turkey-n-Cheddar Sandwich (1/2); Goldfish (30); DC
S#2-LF String Cheese; Goldfish (40); Reese’s Cup
D-Chicken (3oz); Zucchini (1c); Rice-A-Roni (1/2c); Crème Savers (3); Graham Sandwich; Pecans (1/4c)
Jane, I got up all the decorations. It is the first time in this house so it was fun to find places for everything. We do a big dinner at my SIL's on Christmas Eve and usually have a brunch at our house Christmas Day, but this year the kids are at their dad's Christmas morning and my mom is out of town, so we will be all by our lonesome until the afternoon when the kids come back... :sad1:
Karyn, I usually don't buy Doritos, I think this bag was leftover from a party. I don't know why I lost my mind so much last night. I thought I was getting back on track! Oh well, I will strive to be better today! :goodvibes Our weather is in the upper 60's. It is :cold: for AZ standards, but I bet you were wishing you had those temps right about now!
Amy, don't beat yourself up over a few Tootsie Rolls when there are homemade cookies and brownies abounding. After all, you're only human! Congrats for finding a low cal substitute. You're doing much better than most of America!
How's your knee? With all of those exercise minutes you must be all healed up by now!
Last night was better. I got 20 minutes of Pilates in. My weigh-in this morning was a disappointing 137. I am going in the wrong direction - I am 1lb more than I was last week… :guilty: Hopefully the post TOM whoosh will kick in the next day or two and those extra lbs will go away… No goodies in the breakroom to avoid, but I kept having Tootsie Roll flashbacks and had to steer clear of the boss’s candy dish. (1425cal; 80oz water; 2 cups green tea):
B-Kashi Crunch (3/4c); FF Yogurt
L-Romaine (2c); Cheese (1/8c); LF Dressing (2tbsp); Egg Whites (3); Turkey-n-Swiss Sandwich (1/2); Goldfish (30); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-FF Cottage Cheese; Clementine; Pringles (15)
D-Chicken Las Vegas (3oz chicken, 1/4c cream of chix soup, 1/4c FF sour cream, 3 slices chipped beef); Brown Rice (1/3c); Crème Savers (3); Gingerbread Cookie
WORKOUT-Walking (40min); Pilates (20min)
RESISTED-Tootsie Rolls, more gingerbread cookies
Jane, it wasn't so much the Tootsie Rolls that bummed me out, it was the uncontrolled snacking that happened after I got off work! The Tootsie Rolls were the appetizer for the feeding frenzy. It all started because I forgot my gum and needed something to get the lunch taste out of my mouth... My knee is doing pretty good! The bruise is finally gone (it took 3 weeks to go away) but it still hurts when I kneel on it in a certain spot and it pops all the time. DH thinks I have a chipped bone in there, but I think I just had a deep, deep bruise...
I hear you on the snacking. Its one thing after another this time of year, and it all tastes so good!
Are you going to get your knee checked out further? That popping thing doesn't sound good. And 'chipped bone' sounds really bad.
Its so strange to see you write "dh"!
I don’t know what is up with my freaky body! I woke up this morning feeling pretty svelte and the scale said 134! I had to get on it a couple times, and it was the same every time… I’ll take it! :cool1: I even wore my skinny pants today, which I haven’t worn for a couple weeks… I did really good last night except I ate about ¾ cup of almonds. I adjusted by not eating my string cheese snack, but the calories in the almonds were way more than the string cheese… At least I got my workout in and didn’t snack! :banana: Tonight we are going to Supper with Santa at the kids’ school. We will be having cheese pizza. I will have a side salad and 2 slices and that’s it for me! (1590cal; 100oz water; 2 cups green tea):
B-Wheat Bagel w/Cream Cheese (2tbsp); FF Yogurt; Clementine
L-Romaine (2c); Cheese (1/8c); LF Dressing (2tbsp); Ham-n-Swiss Sandwich (1/2); Goldfish (30); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-Almonds (15 raw, 20 honey-roasted)
D-Cheeseburger Pie (1 piece); Broccoli (1c); Crème Savers (4)
WORKOUT-Walking (40min); Weights (30min); Treadmill (30min)
RESISTED-Tootsie Rolls, Chocolate (actually had it halfway unwrapped and put it back! :cheer2: )
Jane, it is strange typing DH! There are so many times I automatically type DB then have to go back and change it... I am still easing into using my new last name as well. It's a tough transition, but worth it! :teeth: As for the knee, I was not going to go to the Dr (since every time I do, there is nothing wrong with me or it is a virus and they can't do anything about it) but last night I was wrapping presents on the floor and my knee got pretty sore while kneeling. It's been 5 weeks. If it is not 100% better by the beginning of the year, I will probably have to break down and get an x-ray... It doesn't affect my day-to-day activities which is why I have not done something about it yet...
Hi Amy,
Way to go on resisting the tootsie roll. That is awesome that you had it unwraped but then re-thought it and put it back. Good job!
Hope you are having a wonderful Thursday! Keep up the good work!!!! Congrats on being back down to 134!!!
Congrats on those skinny pants! No wonder you're motivated to stay in shape! :cheer2: Hang on you'll be in the 120's before you know it!
I ate what I planned, although I did sneak in a couple bites of Pumpkin Fluff (that stuff is SO good - but I am glad DH is taking it to work!). My calories are high because it is 250 calories for a slice of cheese pizza! Geez, when I think of all the times I’ve eaten 3-4 slices of meat pizza – whoa… :eek: I got my Pilates DVD in, even though it was from 7-8pm. DH helped get the kids showered and ready for bed so I could work out. He is such a sweetie! :lovestruc Tonight we are going to see the Nutcracker at Phoenix Symphony Hall. DD is SO excited! (1442cal; 80oz water; 2 cups green tea):
B-Kashi Crunch (3/4c); FF Yogurt; Clementine
L-Romaine (2c); Cheese (1/8c); LF Dressing (2tbsp); Ham-n-Swiss Sandwich (1/2); Goldfish (30); DC
S#1-none
S#2-FF Cottage Cheese (1/2c); LF String Cheese
D-Cheese Pizza (2 pieces); Small Salad; Crème Savers (3); Pumpkin Fluff (1/2c); Caffeine Free Diet Pepsi
WORKOUT-Walking (40min); Pilates Sculpt (55min)
RESISTED-Annual Free Holiday Lunch (and boy did I get harassed by my co-workers for passing up a free lunch!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, I wore my extra skinny pants and it felt GOOD! And today I am wearing my jeans and last week I was practically busting out of them... I hope I can get through this weekend without doing too much damage! We have a party to go to after DD's recital tomorrow. Fortunately we will not get there until 9pm or so, so I should be able to have 1-2 drinks, no food, and leave. And the only way I'll do damage on Sunday is if DH surprises me with a cheesecake for my b-day... :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc

Amy you looked awesome in those pics - sorry I'm just getting to your journal and seeing them. I'm so happy for you and glad to hear that it all went well - your dd is gorgeous and you all look fantastic!!!!!! CONGRATS girl!

Keep up the good work - you are doing great and thank you for your encouragement and comments. I deeply appreciate them!

Keep on :banana: :banana:
Chris

How was the Nutcracker? That sounds like fun. I hope they were no food challenges there. Have fun at the recital and watch out for that cheesecake on Sunday! I'll have a tropical drink for you tomorrow night. I can't wait to see what the drink specials are.
