AmyT's Journal (Comments Definitely Welcome!)

Amy, you're really working on those exercise minutes!!! :cool1: Thats gotta raise your metabolism & help burn those extra calories! You're doing great just coming back from a trip to Mexico. It will come off!

Younger ds used to love Cinamon Toast Crunch Cereal. I tried NOT to buy it because it was addicting. It seemed like everytime we got it in the house it was gone in two days!

I just had a chance to sit down and catch up on your journal! Whew!! You have really had a lot going on! Kids are great, huh? Can't live with 'em...can't kill 'em. I hope that your daughter is feeling better today. I hate when mine are sick, too! My DD is going through a "not eating" time right now. She won't eat breakfast and she doesn't eat the lunch that I send with her. I have to MAKE her eat at night. It's driving me crazy!! I have started weighing her every night and charting it to see if she is losing weight. She has been the same for a week now, so I guess I need to quit worrying so much!

My mom has a plaque at her house that says "Be Nice to Your Kids...They May Be in Charge of Choosing Your Nursing Home!" YOu may want to send DS to the moon, but he will eventually grow out of it. At least, that's what I keep telling myself!

Hey Amy-

I hope you had a lovely romantic dinner. :)

I'm sorry to hear about your DD not feeling well. Sinus infections are the pits. Hope she is feeling better soon.

Good luck with all that cookie dough!!!!

I didn’t do that good last night. The problem = nibbling while preparing food. It all started with a honey wheat donut that DD decided she couldn’t finish. I ate the remaining half plus drank the rest of her chocolate milk (~1/3 cup). That cost me 170 calories. :teacher: At this point, it was not that big of a deal since it was right after work and I hadn’t eaten dinner yet. So I didn’t have my cottage cheese snack, which would have been 120 calories. But here is where I fell apart – while making the macadamia crusted mahi mahi, I proceeded to eat the rest of the can of macadamia nuts! It was maybe ½ cup, which doesn’t sound bad, but those things are HIGH in calories. So add another 479 to my total. :teacher: Then while packing my lunch for today, I noticed there were 15 mini rice cakes left and I usually have 10, so I ate the other 5 so I would have 1 serving left… +40. :teacher: And last but not least, I made a bagel (since I had to eat breakfast at work this morning) and ate about 2 tbsp of the cream cheese (one for the bagel, one for me, one for the bagel… +70). :teacher: It really wouldn’t have been that bad, just that the nuts are so high in calories! Oh well, they are gone now and today is a new day! :teeth: At least I didn’t gain any weight this morning, I would have been devastated!

I didn’t get my lunchtime walk in yesterday (work = UGH!) but I did do my Pilates Sculpt DVD when I got home. I have hit the 50% mark for the Exercise Challenge! I had to come in early (and stay late) today to make up for taking DD to the Dr on Tuesday. I will have to go to the gym late, but I will get there! (1277 cal :flower: ):

B-Wheat Bagel w/Cream Cheese (2 tbsp); Light-n-Fit w/Fiber Yogurt; Cantaloupe (1 c.)
L-Romaine (2 c.); LF Dressing (2 tbsp); Cheese (1/8 c.); Grilled Chicken (3 oz); Mini Rice Cakes (8); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-Ham Lunchmeat (6 thin slices); Corn Tortillas (2); Mustard
D-Baked Salmon (4 oz); Bread-n-Butter; Cooked Carrots (3/4 c.); Crème Savers (3)
WORKOUT-Walking (40 min); Weights (30 min); Elliptical (25 min)

Jane, you are right, I am doing really good on the exercise challenge! I am going to focus on that positive note. I think that is the only reason I don't weigh 400 lbs...

Karyn, both my kids went through the non-eating stage. My Dr said that it won't hurt them to skip a couple meals a couple days in a row and that they will eat when they really need it. I didn't push the issue and they eventually started eating again. Hang in there!

Frogmommy, I haven't touched the cookie dough yet! It is in the freezer in the garage - out of sight, out of mind... :rolleyes:

Well, I looked for the Sara Lee Bread diet bread at the grocery store today & couldn't find it - guess they don't carry it, but they did have lots of Sara Lee Cakes! I got out of there fast!

We must be nutz to work so hard with out diet and eating & then screw it up on such small things! At least Macadamia Nuts are high in fiber! I've been binging on pnut butter, jam & white hamburger buns! What are we thinking!?!
Its much more fun to save our binges for the weekend when they include friends, alcohol & Mexican food!

Jane, you are SO RIGHT! I need to save my splurges for when they are associated with good times and good people (puttering around the kitchen making the next days lunches does NOT count)... That really motivated me, thank you so much! :hug: I was losing weight when I was not snacking and if I stop that negative behavior, I will continue to lose. When I overeat at a social gathering, I don't feel as bad because it was "for a good cause". And I REALLY don't feel bad if I've done great all week, because then I "deserve" it! When I overeat for no reason at home during the week, I always beat myself up because it was so unnecessary!

It's like a huge bulb went on in my head! :idea: Hopefully this new mindset is just what I need to stay focused. :goodvibes

Hi Amy!

I am so proud of you for not touching the cookie dough!! Way to go.

Sorry to hear that you DD is sick....hope she is feeling better soon.

Keep up the good work!!! Happy Friday!

I did great last night. No snacking or nibbling! :cool1: :cheer2: :banana: Gotta keep it up if I want to succeed! Once I get to my goal I will be able to be a little more lenient with treats, but for now I have to buckle down and focus! I got rid of the munchies by sipping a can of Minute Maid Light (10 cal). Every time I wanted to grab a little something, I’d take a sip.

I had to go to the dentist this morning so I came into work late. I won’t get out of here until 5pm (I usually get off at 3:30). I will try to get my walk in today, but I don’t plan on doing anything else. My body is very tired, I think I need a day off! I plan on going to the gym tomorrow, so if I don’t get my walk in today, I won’t feel too bad.

We are going to a party tomorrow. It’s the one I didn’t really want to go to. Some other friends got invited, so now I guess it won’t be too bad. I will most likely behave because I won’t be so relaxed (this guy’s wife is severely obsessive-compulsive). We went to a Superbowl party at their house and it was the worst party I’ve ever been to. His wife is a clean freak and the minute you took the last sip of a drink or the last bite of food, she’d take your cup or plate. She was constantly cleaning and you could tell it was killing her to have all these people in her house… It was not the carefree party environment I am accustomed to!! I think we might meet some people at Outback for a couple martinis before we go… That’ll help my attitude! I wish I knew the food situation, but these people are fitness fanatics, so I bet there will be plenty of healthy selections available. I am going to keep my portions in check and have a successful evening! I haven’t behaved enough this week for a splurge, so I have to be good! For today (1247 cal):

B-Oatmeal (1 packet); FF Yoplait Yogurt; Cantaloupe (1 c.)
L-Romaine (2 c.); Cheese (1/8 c.); FF Dressing (2 tbsp); Egg Whites (3); Mini Rice Cakes (10); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-FF Cottage Cheese (3/4 c.); LF String Cheese
D-Chicken Stir Fry (4 oz chix, 1 c. veg); Brown Rice (1/2 c.); Crème Savers (4)
WORKOUT-Walking (10 min)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jamie, thanks for the well wishes for DD. She is doing fine, her voice is not froggy anymore and she says she feels much better! :goodvibes
Jane, thanks again for your comments, they woke me up! I am sick of all my self-sabotage, if I'm going to splurge, I am going to make sure I have a good time doing it! ;)
Happy Friday! Hope the day is going well and that the weekend will be a good one!
No Cookie Dough! WOW!!! You do have willpower!
Congrats on No Snacking!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: We can do this!
The lady having the party tomorrow sounds just like my mother!! Work work work!! I hate going to dinner at my moms. If she invites us for 5pm - we're eating at 5:02pm, finished by 5:32pm, doing dishes at 5:33pm & out the door by 6pm! There is no such thing as a relaxing dinner. Fortunately, it sounds like you'll have alot of healthy food choices. Try to have a good time!
Sunday we've been invited to dinner at a friend's house. I'm a little worried because she keeps chips & dips & cookies & candy & soda out all night. If I manage to make it thru dinner without any problems I've got to battle junk food all night long. She always has the best junk food too - homemade brownies, cookies, cake etc. She's the one who always has a huge bowl of cremesavers in the middle of her table. I just thank God they're cremesavers and not Milk Duds!
Hope you have a good weekend, and manage to not snack too much. I know that's always hard for me when getting together with friends!
You are doing great with the exercise, keep it up! :sunny:
Hi Amy-
I hope the party went ok. Good for you for eliminating the snacking and nibbling. :)
The weekend went pretty darn good! :cool1: I behaved (more than usual anyway!) at the party and all day yesterday. The party was better than I was expecting. They had Panda Express cater it. I didn’t eat too much, but drank about 5 glasses of wine… :confused3 It looks like I ate a lot, but I had a lot of variety, little quantity. And this was over a course of 6 hours. Yesterday I was high on calories, but I wasn’t snacking on junk – just the stuff I ate was high in calories. I went a little overboard with the Soy Crisps, but other than that, it was a good day. I got my weekly ice cream sandwich treat, which was nice!! I took Friday and Sunday off from working out, but I actually went to the gym on Sat. I didn’t put Saturdays stuff on FitDay, but here is what I ended up eating:
Sat:
B-Egg Beaters (3/4 c.) w/Cheese (1/8 c.); Toast-n-Butter; Banana
L-Romaine (2 c.); Cheese (1/8 c.); FF Dressing (2 tbsp); Egg Whites (3); Soy Crisps (10); DC
S-Craisin Bran Muffin (2); Crème Savers (2)
D@Party-Deviled Egg; Carrots-n-Celery; Pretzels (~30 mini); Beef-n-Broccoli (1/2 c.) w/Noodles (1/4 c.); 2 Turkey-n-Cheese Wraps (3” dia x 1.5” thick); Chex Mix (1/4 c.); Fortune Cookie; Chocolate Cake (1/2 piece); Wine (5 glasses); Rum-n-Diet Sprite (1)
WORKOUT-Weights (30 min); Treadmill (25 min)
Sun (1634 cal :guilty: ):
B-Egg Beaters (3/4 c.) w/Cheese (1/8 c.); Toast-n-Butter; Banana
L-Grilled Turkey-n-Cheese Sandwich; Soy Crisps (30); DC
S-FF Cottage Cheese (1/2 c.); Craisin Bran Muffin
D-Broccoli-n-Shrimp Alfredo (1.5 c.); HC Caramel Ice Cream Sandwich; Crème Savers (3)
WORKOUT-None
This week is going to be tough to get workouts in. My work schedule is all screwed up because of P/T conferences. I have to juggle the schedule to work late some days and leave early on others. And when I leave late, I do NOT feel like going to the gym, that’s for sure! So I’ll have to get creative… The plan for today (1374 cal):<---Ice cream was worth it!
B-FF Yogurt (6 oz); Kashi Crunch (3/4 c.); Honeydew (1 c.)
L-Romaine (2 c.); Cheese (1/8 c.); LF Dressing (2 tbsp); Egg Whites (3); Soy Crisps (10); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-Turkey Lunchmeat (6 slices); Corn Tortillas (2); Mustard
D-Meatloaf (4 oz); Green Beans (1 c.); Mashed Potatoes (1/2 c.); Crème Savers (3); Ice Cream (1/2 c) :lovestruc
WORKOUT-Walking (10 min); Weights (20 min); Elliptical (25 min)
Jane, the party hostess was not as bad this time! She must have upped her meds... :rotfl:
goldcupmom & Kate, thanks for stopping by with the extra encouragement! I need all I can get! :blush:
frogmommy, I found a recipe for lowfat apple-bran muffins. I made them with craisins instead of raisins - they are GOOD! Thanks for the idea! Now I just need to ration them out - I want to eat 2 or 3 at a time, which wouldn't be a good thing... ;)
Hi,Amy! It sounds like you did so great this weekend! Congratulations. I know it is hard when we can't control the food that is available to us. Sounds like you handled everything beautifully!
Oh, and congratulations on doing so well on your exercise challenge -- I bet you are so proud of yourself! :banana:
Have a wonderful day! :sunny:
Glad your party went better this time. Congrats on the eating & your amazing workouts!!!! 130 is coming up quickly! :cheer2:
We got a puppy!!!!!!! :dog2: It is a beagle, he is 6 weeks old and the cutest little thing you’ve ever seen. :dog: We named him Buckley. :paw: Unfortunately my sinuses are arguing with the decision to get a dog, so I am going to give it a week or so and if Claritin doesn’t do the trick I am going to have to bite the bullet and get allergy shots. I probably should anway, since my allergies are so bad…
Yesterday was great food-wise – until the Schwans guy came. I’ve determined he is 100% evil. :rolleyes1 I had ordered a couple appetizers for our Halloween party and he HAD to say “We have a special right now for 2 ice creams for $7”. And of course DB said “Didn’t you want to try that pumpkin ice cream?” and since 1 ice cream is usually $6.69, I said “OK”. But the GOOD news about it is that I only ate ½ cup, which is 1 serving! :banana: It was heavenly, I enjoyed it but I didn’t overdo it! I am very proud of myself, I could have easily eaten half the container… :cheer2: And it didn't affect my weight at all this morning, which is the best part! I don't plan on eating every day, but now I know I can have it as an occasional treat and not die if I only eat a small amount! :goodvibes
I went to DD’s P/T conference, she is doing wonderful in 1st grade. I have DS’s today - that will be a different story… I made veggie soup this weekend and will have some of that for lunch this week. I still have some lettuce that needs to be used, so I will probably alternate salad and soup until it’s gone. I didn’t get my walk in yesterday since it was 86 degrees at lunch and that is a little too hot to be walking around getting sweaty then have to go back to work. Soon it should be consistently cooler and I will be able to go daily without worrying about the temp! For today (1354 cal):
B-Wheat Bagel w/Cream Cheese (2 tbsp); Light-n-Fit w/Fiber Yogurt; Honeydew (1 c.)
L-Veggie Soup (1.5 c); Craisin Bran Muffin; DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-FF Cottage Cheese (1/2 c); LF String Cheese; Mini Rice Cakes (5)
D-Beef Stroganoff (in crockpot); Wheat Noodles (1/2 c.); Crème Savers (4); Ice Cream (2 spoonfuls ~4 tbsp)
WORKOUT-Walking (40 min)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cam, thanks for stopping by! Yes, your exercise challenge is keeping me very motivated!

Jane, I did do a lot better this weekend, yippee!!!

How exciting! I love Beagles! They're so sweet. I hope he doesn't bother your allergies too badly. Your kids must be ecstatic.

Congrats for just eating 1/2 bowl. It doesn't matter how much you buy - its how much you eat that counts! You're doing an amazing job this week!

You must be very proud of your daughter in school. Sounds like she's doing great! Hope your son's conference goes well.

Hi Amy!!

How exciting to have a new addition to the family!! Hopefully the Claritin will do the trick and you won't have to get the shots!!!! Buckely, what a cute name!!!

Way to go on only eating one serving of ice cream! That is great

Keep up the good work, you are doing a great job

HI, congrats on your hard work so far. :cheer2:

Congrats on the puppy too, I love beagles, they're soooo cute. :sunny:

Have a good day.

I did really good last night. I had 2 spoonfuls of ice cream and 5 mini rice cakes, but other than that I stuck with my plan! I weighed in this morning at 134. Yippee! :cool1: :banana: :cool1: :banana: Still far from my goal, but at least I’ve finally broken the 137 barrier! I was scared I would be stuck at 135 for a while, since that is what I’d been on weigh-in day since I got back from Mexico. Fortunately that is not the case!! I have a very good attitude about eating right now, which is nice. :goodvibes

I hope the puppy stops whining in the middle of the night soon. :dog: They said to expect that for the first week or two. I feel so bad that he has to be in the crate, but there is no way he can just wander around all night – he is too tiny and who knows what he’d manage to do!! He is really keeping me occupied so I don’t even have time to think about snacking. Who’d have thought a puppy could be a weight loss tool?!? I didn’t get my Cardio Sculpt done last night. Tuesdays stink as far as exercise is concerned. At least I got my walk in. I have to work late today, but I am going to the gym afterwards. I know I’ll be trying to talk myself out of it when 4:00 rolls around, but I HAVE to go! Today (1395 cal):

B-Quaker Weight Control Oatmeal; FF Yoplait Yogurt; Honeydew (1 c)
L- Romaine (2 c.); Cheese (1/8 c.); FF Dressing (2 tbsp); Egg Whites (4); Mini Rice Cakes (10); DC
S#1-Apple
S#2-Craisin Bran Muffin; LF String Cheese
D-Bisquick LF BBQ Chicken Bake; Broccoli (1 c); Crème Savers (4); Ice Cream (1/2 c)
WORKOUT-Walking (40 min)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, my son's conference went as expected. The teacher scheduled his as the last one of the day for a reason... :rolleyes: His gifted class conference was about the same - he really needs an attitude adjustment. He is SO smart, he just gives no effort... I know having this puppy has helped tremendously, I hope it sticks... My allergies are MUCH better today, I just have to remember the Claritin every single day... :teeth:
Jamie, I am so proud of myself being able to eat a small portion of ice cream! I finally feel like I am in control! I still have to talk to myself ("A normal person can eat a small bowl then walk away - you can do it too") but someday it will be second nature and I'll be able to do it without thinking!
Kate, thanks for your encouragement! I will have to post a picture of the little darling so everyone can see him! :paw:
